That town set sure got used a lot. The people who had to clean it up and prepare it for looking the way it would be used the next time must have put in a lot of overtime. Some times it need to look blasted and other times like people still lived there. Amazing that they could do such good work preparing for another episode a couple weeks later.

I can't believe how critical the comments are that people are making about this show. This was great "TV" back in the day and its even better today. Who cares if some things are inaccurate. Just watch it for what it is, really good television, and keep your
    derogatory comments to yourself!

??? I haven't read many negative comments here, just one about whether or not a coil of wire would float, that wasn't much of a negative comment, in fact, he was right. So what? I think everyone likes this that is commenting. I doubt most young people will even try to watch this, not enough trash talk or glitzy costumes with weird hairstyles, so relax and enjoy it, it is by far the best on youtube. In fact, I can't even watch any of the new movies in 2017, every movie is now feminism on parade, totally bullshit.

I'm an Aussie, 52, nearing 53 and as a prepubescent scallywag this was one of my favourite TV shows. I admit I loved this macho stuff. We'd watch these shows, go to the bush that was all around my home, literally just across the road and "play" our war games, where no-one ever really died and everyone was a hero (if only in their own mind).
Sadly, (though I can't argue with people wanting to live in a house) that bush is now developed and all houses. Still, watching this, or I should say rewatching, this show has me reminiscing about those days when we didn't lock our doors, leash our canines (they just followed us on our adventures and like us it was "out of the house 'till lunch, or dinner" - sadly those days seem long gone for keyboards pixel screens and fear of serial killers), or worry about every little thing, well, maybe one - back then (and I know the youth of today grows up very fast) for us, it was very, very bad to get "girls germs" - Sadly today it's a very different world.

Jack Lord was right when he referred to Little John as a "clumsy ox" as that's what his character is often reduced to in order to propel the plot forward. In season 2 he trips while throwing a grenade and ends up killing a squad mate, in season 3 he leaves behind a package and attracts the attention of the Germans while retrieving it, and now he fumbles a spool of phone cable into a river. Little John in the first season was far better written, and had more depth to his character. Still enjoying Combat, and this episode was amazing with Vic Morrow, Rick Jason, and Jack Lord all together.

Ft Hood and Ft Riley have thousands and thousands of miles of commo wire out in the training areas. Back in the 70's every time we went to the field for training exercises we would lay more wire and of course leave it when we were finished. Combat! was my favorite tv show as a kid.

Another good solid episode. I read somewhere that the antagonism between Morrow and Lord was real. They had done a movie together a few years earlier and came to blows supposedly. Might be a legend but I don't find it hard to believe. Both were very strong willed actors who were known to be pains in the butt. A friend of mine had a sister who dated Morrow when he was still in NY. His comment was "if Vic ever smiled his face would fall apart". I know Quinn Martin in an interview said he had a ton of respect for Morrow as an actor but warned producers that he could be a bit of a problem. And Lord would later do a series, Stoney Burke, with Bruce Dern. Word is Dern hated him. Still, both actors' body of work will live on.

Yes there are a lot of nit pickers who comment on small slights seen on each episode of COMBAT but take into consideration there are plenty of stagehands creating the EPISODES and from time to time while filming one or two of the stagehands is called away (possible family matter to take care of) while someone else takes his or hers place during the filming sequence and perhaps an item or two is left as is and the PRODUCERS,DIRECTORS are pressed for time:sending out the 98% almost finished product (episode) to the film editors and music cue-ers and maybe announcing a voice over on the opening theme and saying (for example) SPECIAL GUEST STAR JOE BLO FROM IDAHO!! and getting the finished product over to MANY MANY TV BROADCAST STATIONS across the country for thier respective BROADCAST DATES!!!! So sit back and enjoy the squad as they get the ole job done******

The music is much appreciated. It’s like a break. It’s very dramatic. I don’t like the movie music. It’s not as if it isn’t music, but the vehicle of the music is the problem. It’s actually patronizing. It’s very childish. I hate Speilburg movie music, it’s very childish. It’s not handled well, the insignificance at human danger. It goes very frivolous. I really appreciate this show, Combat. There’s actual severity of trying to survive and it’s very adult. The show respects loss of life and trying to survive. Whoever created it, does sense the adult dark.

Why are they laying a wire ahead of the main US force ? Why isn't the bridge: (A) blown up or (B) defended ? It makes no sense. And if there are so many German snipers and patrols around, what's the point in laying a wire down a main road ?

I forgot what episode it was, but the best scene was this one when they got a new guy in their squadron. Saunders asked him if he had seen any combat and the new guy replied that he saw some on TV, but only the ones where Rick Jason was the featured star.

+seegurke93 Just a bit of trivia... The Bee Gees used this same village for their video Staying Alive more then 12 years latter. I once heard they got to use the set for free, because it was soon being torn down for condo's. If you watch the video you see it, still with bullet holes and bomb craters...

You do realize most of the buildings in a set are only facades with nothing inside or in back. The town may look like a real one only from a certain angle.

Hiya Asian commentator, I don't have your language but will try to explain the premise of COMBAT ! the T.V. show from the 1960's. The show did not portray operational procedures or actual infantry combat but romantacized the impact of war on members of a basic Infantry squad during the closing stages of W.W.2. The show portrays the brave infanteer facing unknown enemy numbers in fictitious confrontations in the European theatre after D.Day at Normandy, France.
Any semblance of actual combat to this show is entirely accidental. The program is in fact a propaganda vehicle for Army Recruiting during the Vietnam Conflict. All nations are guilty of enticing boys into battle with dreams of glory and patriotism, eh? Good Luck from a victim of this deceit !
