This dragon is actually referred to in the game files as Mother Dragon and actually had rigging meaning it could move in an earlier stage in development.
The dark souls games are limited in their combat systems and we play as a puny undead who just so happens to fight either weakened or weak enemies with few fights actually being at full strength, if it was unlimited then the fights would be a lot more impressive though the difficulty would spike as well, it's a shame really.
I know this is really old but there's an actual model in the files that's seems to be the one that you would've fought, but it looks like they reused the model to make Midir.

i think is the hero from ds 2 , combined with aldia, this is how they break the curse of the undead by transform one itself into a dragon. (there is abig reference with ds2 there too with the drakeblood knights) , also remember that aldia was searching for the path of dragons and even create a fake dragon.

@@slaveknightdante6207 no, the blob of weak nothing is the deformed king Allant if you actually read what it said on his healthbar. The Old One is the giant tree hole abomination with swords sticking out of it that you enter. That entire thing is the old one.

The shape of it's head is really similar to Midir's once you look closely
It is said that Midir is a descendent of the ancient archdragons.
Not all of Dark Souls is gloomy and scary. Some parts are beautiful. Like these mountains with a dragon who could annihilate us if it was alive :)
