Agreed. As a Ryu main, this is a fair description. He lacks alot of pressure techniques and can become easily overwhelmed by all S tier characters at a high level.
His normals are very stubby, his fireball is probably the worst it's ever been because of parry/DI - it's barely better than Ken's, and he has a bunch of weird specials that just don't have much of a place in the game aside from combo enders. Like LP. Hashougeki - what's the point of this on hit? I feel like that sums up Ryu in general. Not great, not terrible.

Considering both players being equally skilled, Zangief is that type of character that gets stomped hard (mostly by corner pressure or effective zoning) in a round and the next one he is giving you the retribution with a few opportunities. You either crush it hard or get crushed hard with gief. He is the "guess it game" incarnate.
Definitely agree with the Ryu placement. Character hits like a truck, does great damage, but struggles with pressure. Especially in the corner in my opinion. This is just me, but I find myself taking a step or two back when my opponent is in the corner cuz theres no buttons that are gonna scare my opponent from respecting my pressure. It's always look for the jump in, whiff punish, or wake up reversal.
Jamie main here. I feel like an OD drink that gives extra drink at the cost of drive gauge, would be a fair buff. If you use it back to back you might go into burn out so its not safe to use back to back. Keeping drinks between rounds feels a lil too good.
I think an interesting sales pitch idea would be him losing a drink level or two at the end of each round. Though imo it's not *that* hard to get drink levels in quickly, esp for good jamie players (solidjin and takeuchi for example). Also people seriously underestimate his base moveset and the options he unlocks *just* by getting that 1 drink in with the dive kick. Punk says that the bakkai opens up options to counter fireballs but that's just flat out wrong, that move is risky at best because of how dreadfully slow it is. It is good for combos though!
I think Punk was right mostly with Chun-Li, compared to where Chun Li was pretty well represented in SF5, I'm not really seeing much Chun Li especially in the online tournaments, although in contrast there's a lot more Juri representation now than the previous game.

@@TribalKatz Yeah you got that right. I'll say this, it's like, a good Chun Li is explosive and fun to watch, more so than a lot of the cast in my opinion. I think the timing was right too, showing off Chun's potential on a grand stage. I plan to get the game next month myself, now that we've seen a bit more of the game and EVO happened, there'll probably be some updates/patches, so I can get the game after it's been adjusted a little.
I think hes 100% right with Manon(although I dont think shes bottom 2). She feels like shes balanced around the idea that youll always get lvl 4 or 5 every match. Her risk reward on her moves is VERY slanted against her until she gets high medal, which as he said requires you to give up pressure.

I bet she struggles in some matchups but in the strike/throw guessing game she gets a good damage reward on anyone trying to jump on oki. Her footsies are also strong, she’s definitely not up their w Ken and Guile but she’s definitely strong.
Yeah, I've dropped her. After a certain rank, if the opponent guess right and neutral jump your command grab, you eat a full combo, and on this game any character with drive bar and/or super can take half of your life.
@@ok-tchau So basically, when the going gets TOUGH, you Run….. You’re probably like that with everything in real life too. At a certain rank, players will be good enough to shutdown every characters best tools AND be keen on the MU. It’s up to you to CREATE opportunities for your character, nothing is going to be guaranteed especially at top level play.

As a dhalsim main it’s either zone and mix or be *mixed* being trapped into a corner with pressure from DeeJay or Ken is incredibly hard to get away from. I would put him B tier but what punk said was accurate.
They should give dhalsim a good wake up/dp special move. That would help get the pressure off him especially since he cant jump out as his jump is slow and teleporting usually means teleporting into an attack. Yoga flame is not quick enough to be wake up either.

i think Zangief is better than what people give him credit for. He has pretty great buttons and his cmd grabs have great range and do crazy damage among other things. My highest win rate is with Zangief actually. He needs some fixes, but he's not bottom tear imo.
I agree. If you can play mind games with spacing and drive rush plus frames he's really good. It's just getting in to be able to start doing that that's hard. You gotta be hella patient but I personally think he's really good

Punk was right about Chun being untapped, at least in the West. Seeing all these high-level Chuns from Asia this Evo was a pleasant surprise. I wouldn’t be surprised if she becomes S Tier as the meta evolves.

Honestly every tier list is probably a hot take till after EVO. We need to see how many people play what, we need to see how many Lukes get out of pools, or how many Ken's are in top 8.
@spacediino Tokido is always a threat whoever he is playing. But Punk finished EVO and that invitational really well. I also think that Cammy, while very high tier, is a bit less dangerous than the top tier. So he has a chance to level up as well once he has a character to counter pick with. He has 13 tournaments: seven 1st place, four 3rd place, and one 4th. It is only a matter of time he puts it together at EVO (especially when he was so close this year).
I mean, tiers are biased regardless. But if there was a tier list, this one would most likely be the most believable. I'm just so surprised how balanced the game launched. Usually it's only 1-2 character in both S and A ranks.
Wuuuut. I don't know how I had missed your tier List. Ok. Ok, I understand how strong Cammys toolkit is BUT- I still put her in A+ cuz of the matchup issues. I see hurt against Ken & Marisa. Can't understand Guile in S this iteration of SF, but thats just me. And DeeJay has weaknesses I just don't picture him matching well making him A+. Dhalsim should stand Above Honda (can't sleep on Dhalsim bruh) and Both Lily & Jamie I picture in C Tier below Honda. I'm not confident about Luke being A+ or S because I see his arsenal as strong as Cammys, but with higher general damage output cuz of the pressure he can put out and how he deals with it. Alpha Academy step up for your boy! A casual take on Manon: I feel like people aren't using all of her tools. Her normals make it seem like that she has more of like a bubble around her. Where her counter poked and whiff punishing is just so long. I think that she actually has really strong anti-airs, her pirouette if held down can just clear fireballs and put her in jump range. She handles that close / mid-range pressure very well. And most don't want to risk getting manon'd. Then of course you can always throw the first round to stack up as many medals as possible.
I have said blanka is at least A tier since the beginning of sf6 almost 2 months ago and at that time lots of people said he is C tier, he is trash, they disagreed with me...etc. Now every top players proves my point. As a former pro tournament player I guess my knowledge about fighting games is correct.
Manon Main here, Gief is my easiest matchup, really anyone who doesnt benefit from rush is good for her to close the gap and throw, Jp, Sim, gief, so maybe my strength isnt character centric as much as Drive Rush Centric, unsure. Very much a dad and a scrub these days
As a Chun main, I agree the guile match is hard especially in the long set. Also Gief is not an easy matchup due to the grind. Your walk speed doesn’t matter if he doesn’t push buttons and his output is high. Same with Marisa. Also, on paper Juri shouldn’t be a bad matchup but her dash and drive rush game is better so her shimmy game is a bit better. Everything else is pretty even or even in Chun’s advantage.
I got a question for you, I’ve been main JP, recently I played a Jury, I got whoop with the guy doing all her counter move. I am trying to figure how to really defend against the counter. Cause that’s the first where I see I am unable to defend against that move.

Manon is in the wierdest spot, she's either really bad or A/A+ tier. Definitely a very polarizing character, I'm personally not sure where to grade her because some of her tools are extremely good and then others are just god awful.
As a Manon main, I’ve noticed a lot of her strengths and weakness the closer I get to master rank. She’s much better w/ medals as stated,however once she loses the health lead, that’s when the struggle battle begins. Her comeback without alot of risk is a hard one. Closing the gap can be hard with her without over committing. Being cornered is hard as well considering she has no wake ups. She’s like Jaime for me, very situational. I’ve been saying for a bit she’s not as S tier as my friend we’re saying she was lol. I love Manon but it’s definitely not easy using her higher level. I found myself needing a break from her and started using ryu just to have a fireball and it feels amazing haha (ryu is fun asf in this game for me)
@@TopTierRated yea I've used her quite a bit, and also have fought the top Manons (ie. Idom) and... it's definitely not easy fighting against her so it's hard for me to say that she's bad, but I do get why Manon mains complain because it's all about drive rush and mauling in SF6, and she has no reversal move and her drive rush is the worst. Man, when she has 4-5 medals and she's in a +2/+3 situation, which is often it's still hard.
Idk, Punk. I feel like we will revisit the Dhalsim conversation in a few years when people realize that he doesn't have a ceiling, like a lot of characters. But he's one of the hardest to maximize, so it's going to take time before his value is truly seen.

Ryu is definitely still good. I'm glad you put him in A. A reliable anti air and projectile will always make a character great no matter what.

Can't understand Guile in S this iteration of SF, but thats just me. And DeeJay has weaknesses I just don't picture him matching well making him A+. Dhalsim should stand Above Honda (can't sleep on Dhalsim bruh) and Both Lily & Jamie I picture in C Tier below Honda. I'm not confident about Luke being A+ or S because I see his arsenal as strong as Cammys, but with higher general damage output cuz of the pressure he can put out and how he deals with it. A casual take on Manon: I feel like people aren't using all of her tools. Her normals make it seem like that she has more of like a bubble around her. Where her counter poked and whiff punishing is just so long.
I think that she actually has really strong anti-airs, her pirouette if held down can just clear fireballs and put her in jump range. She handles that close / mid-range pressure very well. And most don't want to risk getting manon'd.
Then of course you can always throw the first round to stack up as many medals as possible.

I have said blanka is at least A tier since the beginning of sf6 almost 2 months ago and at that time lots of people said he is C tier, he is trash, they disagreed with me...etc. Now every top players proves my point. As a former pro tournament player I guess my knowledge about fighting games is correct.

Dang is the easiest character for me to go up against. Trying to get inside with Zang is incredibly difficult
Manon Main here, Gief is my easiest matchup, really anyone who doesnt benefit from rush is good for her to close the gap and throw, Jp, Sim, gief, so maybe my strength isnt character centric as much as Drive Rush Centric, unsure. Very much a dad and a scrub these days

As a Chun main, I agree the guile match is hard especially in the long set. Also Gief is not an easy matchup due to the grind. Your walk speed doesn’t matter if he doesn’t push buttons and his output is high. Same with Marisa.
Also, on paper Juri shouldn’t be a bad matchup but her dash and drive rush game is better so her shimmy game is a bit better.
Everything else is pretty even or even in Chun’s advantage.

I got a question for you, I’ve been main JP, recently I played a Jury, I got whoop with the guy doing all her counter move. I am trying to figure how to really defend against the counter. Cause that’s the first where I see I am unable to defend against that move.
Juri is a tough matchup, as is anyone else that is constantly in his face. Try to input the od counter when you get up (not every time of course)

The only character I have a problem with while playing as Cammy is Deejay. He's always a challenge because of his damage, and can combo way too easy.
Not a big fan of tier lists, but tbh this one looks legit. This is pretty much it atm.

Manon is in the wierdest spot, she's either really bad or A/A+ tier. Definitely a very polarizing character, I'm personally not sure where to grade her because some of her tools are extremely good and then others are just god awful.
As a Manon main, I’ve noticed a lot of her strengths and weakness the closer I get to master rank. She’s much better w/ medals as stated,however once she loses the health lead, that’s when the struggle battle begins. Her comeback without alot of risk is a hard one. Closing the gap can be hard with her without over committing. Being cornered is hard as well considering she has no wake ups. She’s like Jaime for me, very situational. I’ve been saying for a bit she’s not as S tier as my friend we’re saying she was lol. I love Manon but it’s definitely not easy using her higher level. I found myself needing a break from her and started using ryu just to have a fireball and it feels amazing haha (ryu is fun asf in this game for me)
@@TopTierRated yea I've used her quite a bit, and also have fought the top Manons (ie. Idom) and... it's definitely not easy fighting against her so it's hard for me to say that she's bad, but I do get why Manon mains complain because it's all about drive rush and mauling in SF6, and she has no reversal move and her drive rush is the worst. Man, when she has 4-5 medals and she's in a +2/+3 situation, which is often it's still hard.

Idk, Punk. I feel like we will revisit the Dhalsim conversation in a few years when people realize that he doesn't have a ceiling, like a lot of characters. But he's one of the hardest to maximize, so it's going to take time before his value is truly seen.
