Jaguar XF Broken Key HOW TO FIX

  • This video will help you if you have a Jaguar XF Smart Key and it stops transmitting. This is common after the battery has been changed.
The simple reason for your Jaguar XF key to stop transmitting is that the it has a very weak battery connector that can easily get bent. When it is straightened up, the connector gets weaker and weaker and then eventually it snaps off.
We spotted this on the Jaguar XF key last year and we've fixed dozens since. It needs a bit of soldering so be careful with the hot soldering iron!
Good luck, we hope it helps :)

Sir. I just wanted to thank you. I am a 16 year old boy and my cars dad has been broke for 2 months. I tried to search forums and everything but my dad already did those. He had another key fob and that one didn't work too. He gave up on it and started using my stepmothers car to go to work. Today. I decided to try to repair it myself. My dad had no faith in me and when i asked for the keys he just said "yeah sure. Take them". 10 minutes later i checked this video and started the car after 2 months of the car not working. My dad was so happy we took a joyride for about 30 minutes and just talked about how much he loves this car. (For those wondering what the problem was. The battery wasn't making complete contact with the clips. So i just put the battery on and kept with my finger on it to check and the car started. I think i was shaking for 10 minutes because of how happy i was.)

You are a star - the connection shown broken here had simply been 'flattened' in my fob due to me being heavy handed. Gently easing it back has made the fob work again and saved me several hundred pounds - many thanks

Wow, all I can say is thank you. I changed a flat battery in my fob and then the fob would not communicate with the car. I was going to book it in with a garage to do a software check etc. I saw this video last minute before booking in. You've saved me a few bob!!!
