Plenty of S54s don't "eat" bearings, you just haven't heard of them. I swapped mine at 175k and wear was minimal. I think the reality is that blown motors from rod bearings are the 1% that freaks everyone else out

200k miles on original factory bearings? I've never heard of that before. You've gotta be in the 1% club for S54's that don't eat bearings.

I honestly think it depends how the car was handled in the beginning. Plus good oil maintenance and warm up procedures help the bearings a lot.
