Cody, My husband had a skin graph 17 years ago. His was on his leg to cover another part of his leg that was injured in an accident. We used bag balm on his scar. We also use Arnica gel on his sore spots. Through the years we used bio oil on the scar as well. All can be bought online. I wish you all the best. In your videos I can see the joy in your eyes. It makes me happy for you. Blessings
You arm is healing really well and looks really good Cody! I hope your mom gets better soon. Lots of healing vibes and positive thoughts for her healing! Hugs to you both xx
I'm thinking good wishes for your mother! My mom had a hernia surgery when I was young. She had an abdominal hernia the size of a volleyball. She was in a lot of pain afterwards but in two weeks she was functioning well. She wears an abdominal binder to help support the area where her muscles split. Maybe they have a supportive undergarment like that for your mother's hernia. It's nice to see someone being so honestly open and truthful. You help a lot of people. I have done physical therapy in the past due to pain and stiffness (for arthritis) it helped me a lot but everyone's different. Best of luck. Bye!
The voice of experience... That does seem to be too far into the flexion of the wrist, but no refunds now... Its certainly something that others PRE surgery should be aware of. Thoughts and prayers for Mom. Thats not a fun procedure for recovery.
I’m sure the doc has said the majority of the tightness is from scar tissue. Skin grafts tend to heal much like full thickness burns do, even tho they’re not as traumatic. You may consider seeing a burn specialist or looking into the creams that burn patients tend to use. Obviously, this sort of info would’ve helped earlier in the healing phase, but there is obviously room for improvement in terms of your functionality, pain, swelling, etc. to still be gained. Are you still in PT at this point for your arm? Going back to see if there’s any other recommendations may not be a bad idea either. Best wishes to your mom, hope her surgery is routine & uneventful, that she heals quickly.
Thanks for the update. Hope your mom is well! I had inguinal hernia surgery about two and a half years ago and the first 3-4 days after surgery were the worst. Keeping her in my thoughts!
How about not performing such surgeries? This is butchery. Of course, doctors won't talk about the complications because they only care about the money.
I know I'm always talking about acupuncture, but it's pretty powerful at breaking up/loosening scar tissue. Best wishes for your mom's speedy recovery.
Yes, I believe so (here's an example www.energymedicinechicago.com/scar/scars ) -- I'm sure you've got a fair number of acupuncturists down that way. It's a pretty amazing technique, and it has worked wonders on my top surgery incision scars. I imagine it would also really help in that wrist area.
Best wishes and prayers for you mom. I will pray for it all to go great for her and a fast recovery. I have an idea for your arm (if it works). Massaging your arm daily. Over the counter numbing cream? Maybe stretching routines? I hope some of this can help. I'm no expert but it something that just came up
Hey Cody, HAPPY NEW YEAR btw ! x I have seen this operation on youtube and wow it goes deep and takes connecting blood veins/arteries and nerves away from the arm. The skin graft from the leg to replace the tissue in the arm is pretty thin. As i said before contact Finn, his wounds are not so deep in the arm as yours, maybe he had extra treatment?. You are so brave! i admire you x
Hey hey! So I know Finn but he had a different kind of skin graft. I had a split thickness graft, and he had a full thickness graft. They don't do full thickness in the states.. I guess there is a higher chance of the graft failing but they heal SO much better. Jealous of Finns arm!
Sending you and your mom prayers man! I hope she has a speedy recovery. Also, has the doctor mentioned keeping your arm moisturized? It might could help. Take care man.
Try coconut oil it helps with elasticity in the skin, a lot of woman use it for their stomachs to help stop stretch marks n stretch the skin maybe it may help. I really enjoy watching your videos n well wishes for ur mum x
I don't think I could go through phalloplasty with full arm graft like that. In the UK they tend to do the graft more with your stomach just above the crotch area so it folds down, and then for the urethra they take a strip from your forearm. For me this sounds like the most appealing option and I'm keeping one arm clear of tattoos until I get it done. Your mum's in my thoughts Cody. Best of luck to her. :)
Thank you! And yea surgeries here are a little different than in the UK I am glad I chose the arm for sensation purposes but I just wish the tightness wasn't so bad!
i just watched this video and had no idea wtf was going on so i looked at a few others and i honestly could not tell you use to be a chick . seem strange to me but if you are happy thats all that matters. i will say you doing this on yt i guarantee has inspired people .
Best wishes for your mum will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Sucks about how your wrist area is causing problems during the healing process hopefully over time it will loosen up. There’s heaps of stuff that needs to be thought about before the surgery like ok it’s a huge operation but still I wouldn’t think about wrist movement ae. Just keep thinking as another day passes its another step closer to healing more an more an more . I assume you use almost the lightest weight when working with that arm/wrist? So it doesn’t put too much pressure?
Do you find its older people who ask about your arm scar? I'm thinking most younger people ie under 50ish understand what that scar means. Hopefully the tightness and pain will resolve over time 👍🏻 Do you use any creams/lotions to keep the skin hydrated and soft? I wish your Mum a speedy recovery x
hmm I think it has been kind of a mix of ages. Some people at work are JUST noticing which is weird because I have been back for a few months now. LOL I was using a healing Salve on it but I just ran out haha. Thank you!
Sending good thoughts to your mom! Also im looking into bottom surgery too. I was wondering do you think someone could get a tattoo over the arm scar 3-5 years after surgery?
Seems that your doctor should have told you how far up your arm he was going to go. Why didn't he just begin taking skin lower so he wouldn't need to go up to your wrist? I'm sorry that you're still in pain. You have gone through so many surgical procedures. Take care of yourself and sending quick recovery thoughts for your Mom and for you~❤💡🌟
Hi. When were you cleared to start running? Did this make your vag site sore? Does the donor arm reduce your strength when doing upper body? Do you wear an arm compression when sleeping and working out to see if it reduces swelling? Thanks
I was cleared to run 12 weeks post op but then I had surgery again so it was another 6 weeks after that. The donor arm used to reduce my strength due to mobility limitations but it seems to not reduce it much now. I used to wear a compression glove while I slept but not so much anymore
This is such a helpful & imformative video. I watched another ftm vid where the guy was having his first consultation with Dr. Chen re: phalloplasty. During the meeting Dr. Chen was asked about wrist/hand mobility following the surgery bc the client was a musician. Chen's answers were a bit disappointing and overall way too optimistic and lacked depth. I hope that trans guy subscribes to Cody.
Hi, I was told that you can either have the skin taken from the arm or the leg. If I chose to have the graft from the leg, would I still have to have a scar on my arm for any reason? :)
I do have a question. I am right handed so if I had the surgery would I have to have it done on my left side? I used to be a cutter so my left arm is really scared I wouldn't want that on my penis
Hi Cody, RN here. I haven't talked to any physicians who do this surgery, but I would think that they could take skin from your back or thigh for this procedure. Since the area they would take it from would have a lot more skin left on all of the sides to take up the adhesions from scars. Also, most people would rather have it in one of those places since people tend notice scars on your forearm rather than your back or thigh which are more likely to be covered with a short-sleeved shirt or shorts. Maybe you could ask him and let us know. There are plastic surgeons who release scars; they separate the scars from where they have become adhered.
Im thinking about getting phallo (still dont know if ill go for the back, thigh or arm)but i was wondering if i can tattoo it after to cover up the svar?
Ok I’m curious....it looks like part of your tattoo on your forearm was taken off when they removed the skin....so does your penis have a random piece of tattoo on it?! Sorry if that is a stupid question. I just randomly came across your videos and was watching them. I am not familiar with any ftm surgeries! I am enjoying watching all your videos!
I just can't imagine letting them do that much damage to your arm just for that. BUT I'm not you and I don't want the same things you wanted. Here's my question: The scar on your arm almost serves as a sign that is permanently on you that says "hey, I'm transgender". Is that a concern to you? How does it affect you? Obviously, you are ok with people knowing, since you are telling the world here on TH-cam...but do you ever hide the scar so that people won't know? Have a wonderful day, hope your mom is doing alright!

Thanks so much! I’m not in PT anymore but my PT did mention asking about a scar revision. I’m just not sure what is possible at this point!

Dear madam ( Cody’ mom)
I heard you were feeling unwell. I am here to wish you a speedy recovery.
Dina
I really hope they start growing skin in a jar for these these kind of surgeries. Sending good vibes your way.

I wish your mother good luck with her surgery
Thank you! She is doing well!
You should do a video about what your tattoos mean.
I know I'm always talking about acupuncture, but it's pretty powerful at breaking up/loosening scar tissue.
Best wishes for your mom's speedy recovery.
Hmm could they do it on a skin graft? And thanks!

Thank you for the videos. You are so beautiful and authentic.
i just watched this video and had no idea wtf was going on so i looked at a few others and i honestly could not tell you use to be a chick . seem strange to me but if you are happy thats all that matters. i will say you doing this on yt i guarantee has inspired people .

I assume you use almost the lightest weight when working with that arm/wrist? So it doesn’t put too much pressure?
nope I can lift the same weight. The strength and functionality is there.. its just the tightness that is bothersome
Thanks for making this. Hope everything works out for your Mom.
Also 2:45 that’s what she said. Lol.
LMAO I thought of you at 2:45

very good video! Looks like you had a tattoo on your arm before surgery?
Yes I did :)
Sending good thoughts to your mom! Also im looking into bottom surgery too. I was wondering do you think someone could get a tattoo over the arm scar 3-5 years after surgery?
Yep. I've seen people get tattoos as soon as 1.5 years after surgery, and from what I hear, that's the minimum length most surgeons recommend.
Praying for Mom to have a quick recovery. Will your scar fade in time?
Yes it will fade with time :)
"If you use your penis more than your arm then kudos to you" ..... I wasn't prepared for that comment LOL.
Seems that your doctor should have told you how far up your arm he was going to go. Why didn't he just begin taking skin lower so he wouldn't need to go up to your wrist? I'm sorry that you're still in pain. You have gone through so many surgical procedures. Take care of yourself and sending quick recovery thoughts for your Mom and for you~❤💡🌟
I pray every night so I’ll add her to my pray. That sounds a little weird but I will.
Hi. When were you cleared to start running? Did this make your vag site sore?
Does the donor arm reduce your strength when doing upper body?

They didnt draw on your arm before giving you anesthesia?
Nope!
Are you allowed to get a tattoo over the area the skin graft was taken?
Yes but I have to wait a few years :)
When people ask you what happened to your arm, what do you tell them?
I tell them it is a long story and they usually leave me alone haha
Have u got the results of the dna test u took a couple videos back
nope :( takes like 8 weeks!
Surgery always is Pandora's box..
Can be good oh DON'T..in end go be ok...
Hi, I was told that you can either have the skin taken from the arm or the leg. If I chose to have the graft from the leg, would I still have to have a scar on my arm for any reason? :)
nope! :)
I do have a question. I am right handed so if I had the surgery would I have to have it done on my left side? I used to be a cutter so my left arm is really scared I wouldn't want that on my penis
You can use your dominant hand although it is not recommended!
Could that part of your arm accept a tattoo now?
Yes! But I would wait a few years
Cody_talks ty! That’s awesome!
Get well soon Cynthia xxx
How long after surgery can you go swimming?
Hmmmm good question. Haha I’m not totally sure but I would guess 12 weeks?

Hey! So most of my tattoo actually ended up on the inside of my penis luckily haha but I do have a little bit that shows up on the underside :)
Looks painful
7 months is not very long for a surgery like that. It probably take 2 or 3 years before it's 100%. But good luck.
Yea true! I might look into a scar revision with the plastic surgeon... we will see!
And your arm
Thank you! :)
Omg that's awful! Prayers for your mom! :) and you do technically use it every day... To pee. lol 😂
Rub some extra virgin olive oil. Keep the skin moist. Vit. E
😮
I just can't imagine letting them do that much damage to your arm just for that. BUT I'm not you and I don't want the same things you wanted.
