Pledge floor cleaner... Don't. It will yellow and crack! Polycrylic ages well. Drain any excess by placing them upside down in cups. Allow the medium to set apx 3 minutes _BEFORE_ adding your glitter. These are important steps. Allow 24 hr drying time before capping.

A friend of mine did the floor cleaner one and it was beautiful at first then all the glitter fell down later. I don't know if this is common and if it is then it should be a consideration.

The thing I've found with floor cleaner I have used was the glitter is always loosening. I had glitter everywhere and I shook it out so many times. Also, you don't let the Poly sit a little bit to get tackier before inserting the glitter?

    • @felixunger007

      JESSICA BARROZO
I always sit my ornaments over a small Dixie cup and let as much polyacrylic run out as possible and let it get a little bit tacky before putting the glitter in.

Same thing is happening to me. I put the Polycrylic in the ball, coated it well, let it drip for 2 or 3 min, then poured glitter and dumped excess.. It's been 2 days and it's not dry. I tested it, to see if it was dry, by gently placing my finger on the side and it moved. It's still wet. Have you found a solution yet?

I've made baubles as gifts for last 10 years for sick children...blue glitter or acrylic with Superman logo and red ones also. Found 2 old ones in my craftroom from 4 years ago and they are still perfectly fine. I used modge podge gloss lustre or sparkle (thinned down a little) just tried another one 1 week ago using Craftmill polyurethane craft varnish clear gloss same consistency as Minwax £3.10 for 250ml as opposed to Minwax over £30 for us in the UK 😳. Just checked their website out of stock atm 🙊...just found the little craftybugs company and creativ company online...both have demo of glitter baubles made with transparent glass glue....hope this helps 👍

We have found that Pledge and other floor polishes did not hold up well for ornaments you want to keep. Is disheartening for anyone who has spent time making these ornaments, whether a child or adult, to have the glitter not stick well, ornaments yellow, etc.

I prefer only using polyurethane and waiting 30 mins before putting in the glitter to ensure all excess poly is drained out and tacky NOT wet, glitter sticks beautiful and you absolutely have to let them dry 48 hours before putting the tops back on or you risk scratching the glitter off with those crazy little prongs
