Full credit to Coll for his work ethic and attitude, and it shows in his game which has come on well. But Farag oozes natural talent and shot-making.

just seems like Paul hasn't been able to break through lately as he did in 2021-22. really hoping to see him at the top again.

His pressure squash is great but I think he needs to introduce more speed changes in his game to really make a difference against someone like Farag. Farag's creativity won over Coll's measured squash today.

2021 - 22 , he got through because the other top guns had a low period.

Cant help but feel what separates this Paul Coll from world #1 Paul Coll is the lack of touch at the front. Right now, he just isn't threatening whereas at his peak it seemed like every other counter drop was winning quality, particularly in the front left.

Farag is just too good. Dominates any type of opponent, from retrievers like Coll to smashers like Asal. Hope him an Elias give us a good show in the final

This is mostly just Farag playing great of course, but Coll didn’t do a lot wrong besides the fact his core game type is just taken apart by the Egyptians *when* they’re on form. He can get wins against that style for sure, but he always needs them to make a few errors. His metronomic style will grind down mere mortals but the very top players of the more creative style will continue to maintain the edge over him. He should be looking at David Palmer, Nick Matthew et al - similarly styled players who added creativity as the pro game evolved during their careers. If his game continues to stand still (save for a few minor tweaks to backhand prep), he’ll likely get increasingly picked off and start to drop down the rankings

Ali on song, a gruelling day at the office for Paul, well played both men.

It was Ali who made Coll the superman. The diver gets the attention and not the one who makes you dive.

Why Coll doesn’t kill the ball when he has the chance

I've been saying the same thing in the last couple of games I have seen of his ! So badly needed against a player like Farag

Cool came to play squash but Farag played chess. He outsmarted Coll and was very strategic. He slowed down the ball and played the back corners. A slow game is Coll’s weakness.

Coll can't out Ali Farag Ali Farag, he needs to use his speed and fitness to agressively attack at a crazy pace. Easy for me to say from my comfy armchair but am I wrong?

It sure looks like it. Paul is running all over the field, Farag barely runs.

@@ErikVanRent True, but he's playing a lot of medium pace, aka 'Farag's game' where Farag will never be troubled. Wondering what Coll's ideal style of game is these days, attritional at this pace wont cut it, Farag owns it.

Poor Coll got hyped up by the future teller commentor only to lose 0:3. the first time since 2016.

Paul's game is impeccably solid BUT, he needs to go back to the Paul Coll that takes some risk and goes for kill shots... at this point in his career he appears to be just re-setting points... you can't win matches against the other big 3 when you're doing that.. they don't feel any threat..

Is it unfortunate for Coll to hit the tin on the match point? Come on, commentator! It was a clear mistake. This is not a sport of luck.

Once again proves that you can beat lesser players by playing the physical game but will come up short against top players eheb you don't try to win any rallies but wait for mistakes or fatigue.
