I hear music in my head often... and often when it should be concentrating on matters of work or family. I love all types of music and I listen and I listen and I STILL HAVE NO IDEA how Bill McClintock does this. I envy the man's ear that he can hear seemingly two totally different songs and say "yeah, I can do something with them". Genuis!

Two great bands, two great songs. An unholy union that starts out fantastic and only gets better. Around the 2:08 mark where the chaos seems to strain at the seams, somehow Bill McClintock holds it together and sticks the landing. 2:22 where both songs guitar fills overlap as if they were written to go together is absolute perfection! Rest in peace, Ricky Wilson and Jeff Hanneman.

What I love about this one is that Rock Lobster by the B-52s already made use of very different vocal styles, so Araya's vocals actually don't clash at all; it actually works. And the slower guitar picking and high piercing backing vocal from Rock Lobster adds additional foreboding to Raining Blood. As different as these songs are, there is no dissonance.
Seriously though it's a good thing Slayer retired, between the Bangles t-shirts and people throwing lobsters at the stage they aren't going to know what the hell's going on.
100% agree staggering skill and understanding of interplay. It really sounded like the two bands met and recorded this thing live, the footage is also fakking amazing. Might be the best one so far!

I have to say: This is the single best version of Raining Blood and of Rock Lobster. This mix is a technical marvel. It took two songs that are litterally at the polar opposite and mixed them to do one excellent result.
I love how heavy "Rock Lobster" actually is that at a point sounds even heavier and darker than "Raining Blood". Fuck, I feel more threatened by "Everybody's having FUN" than "RAINING BLOOD!".
It's like the phrase "You will own nothing and you'll be happy". While owning nothing is bad, that just life. The being happy part is a dystopian hellish government forcing you to smile and applaud them.
