    Are those MLOK nuts on the antenna brackets for the frame?
    Great content. Liked and subscribed.

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are. And I think Armorloq even sells add on brackets + hardware for all their pack frames.
      Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!

    I have mine with whip and a anteanna

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I did try some loaded handheld whip antennas for 2 meter and 70cm but none of them worked very well for me, so I just went with the steel telescoping whip and it does excellent.

    I do believe that is a pouch for a hydration pack and not a radio pouch in that 3-day pack. 🙂

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It actually may be. I just assumed that it was a radio slot based on the securement harness that’s in there. It’ll definitely work for both either way👌

    Do you find that you turn the squelch on for 2m/70cm and use RF gain for HF ? That's what I find myself doing. I also wonder if you would get better 2m/70cm reception with some sort of counterpoise on the whip antenna?

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually use squelch across the board. I just find it's easier to keep one setting for it that way I know how it's going to work all the time. Now as far as the 2m reception and transmission, I've gotten about 7 miles backpack to base across hills and urban landscape with the current configuration, but while on mountain tops, I can get upwards of 30-50 miles. I really think the pack frame from Armorloq provides an adequate counterpoise for 2m, however, 70cm is definitely a different situation all together. I mean 70cm works but it doesn't do well. Finally, a counterpoise is just one more piece of wire I need to carry and if I want to use the pack while hiking, it's something that can easily get tangled in the brush.
      Thanks for watching and I really appreciate the comment!!

      @@ar124radio I've got the same radio and frame that I just put together. I saw another build where a guy used two bnc binding posts and one was for the short whip, and then connect another whip to use as a radial to the other post. I thought it was a cool idea. Maybe I'll catch you on HF sometime. Im in Central OK.

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah!! That would be awsome! Maybe we can schedule a time to try this ATAS-120 on HF. Might even make a video!

    Radio price are crazy.
    ive been a Ham for 2years now and its hell trying to find a working Transceiver for an acceptable price.

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, online especially, some of the prices are pretty ridiculous. My best advice would be to try and find local swap meets or ham fests. If you get to them early enough, there are usually some pretty good deals. Thank you for watching!

    great buy from armalok a 16to 1 balon is beter or a 9 to 1 you forgot watar hand book pen rayn protection , in som parts of the world emergency sistems is linked with ham operators usualy the ones that hav good setups to get to me yoy need a 100 foot tower and about 300w power on hf😁

    • @ar124radio
      @ar124radio  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true, but most of those are optional and you wouldn't necessarily have to have them to get on the air. And if it's raining outside I'm probably not heading out with this setup anyway. A better Balun is also an upgrade to think about, but if you're just wanting to get on the air it'll work great.

      You’re correct, I just muted out my callsign for privacy. Anyway, I was just a little frustrated towards the middle of the video more so because I had been at it for a while repositioning the camera and trying to get it to focus🤣
      I appreciate the compliments on the equipment and thank you for watching!!
