I use some silicon around the steer tube to get moisture out (will use tape as well). James at SuspensionWerx said that creaky CSU's are from moisture getting in and making the steerer walls pitted.
@hummer694life oh interesting, I have to say I haven’t had a creaky fork CSU yet- maybe it’s from this, maybe its just good luck 🤷🏼♂️. But it is definitely nice keeping the grime out of the steertube either way
the odi bar ends have a hole in the inside where you can press the cap of the glue for tube repairs in it and on the other side some patches in a small zip bag
You can make em of coasters instead, and you can cut like slitz sso it bends like the tire when you put cable ties. and put 3m 2228 behind chainring too.
If I could only have one bike I’d choose Spire but I have a TR11 for true DH trails, and for everything else the Sentinel never feels out-biked (I had same model before). The Spire is a degree slacker and longer wheelbase so potentially not as agile in certain situations. But it was still a tough decision…
Create content Dean! I would love to see some head to head testing scenarios if possible. Brian Cahal has some great vids doing this and it's really cool.
Great suggestion! I just checked out Brian’s content and it is great stuff I gave him a subscribe! Some comparison/head to head testing would be awesome- I will try to do it!
Thanks for the comment, admittedly they are simple upgrades as they are all low cost DIY, but they WILL last through wet riding and bike washes, even the tape for a year. Cheers for the feedback 😊
real upgrade. let dean ride your bike
Hahaha it works because Im cheap too! 😆
Hahaha, accurate!
Rode w/ this beast up Mt Prevost years back. Mad respect for his speed & style🤙🏻🤘🏻
Thanks dude! Im still riding up at Prevost most weekends 🤟🏼. Next vlog episode is from a ride day there
@@deantennantmtb that’s sick mate. Tis one hell of a mtn👌🏻
It’s the sound effects for me 👌
Good call on the black tape in the steer tube and fork
A simple trick but really useful! Can also be done in other mud-collecting nooks depending on your bike

Great. Thanks, Dean.
Thanks for watching! 😄
The crowd goes wild!
Lol
I use the SCOTCH rubber mastic under the bottom bracket and all the way up the length of the downtube...its AWESOME protection against rock strikes 🙂
That’s awesome! I didn’t know you had a TH-cam page! It’s Kevin S!
Hey buddy yessir! thanks for the follow!
Cool mud guard! I found once I added that fender, steerer tube dirt and headset wear went way down. That one gets my vote as most essential
Ya thats the most key one I agree 🤝🏻
I like to wrap some electrical tape around the part of the chainstay that my heel sometimes bumps into.
Good tip! I will use clear wrap over the frame to protect paint in places like this but electrical tape works too. Cheers 🍻

Where do you put the 3m rubber behind chainring? On the frame for if the chain falls off it doesnt scratch frame?
Good tip too!
Why the Sentinel over the Spire? All reports seem to suggest the Spire climbs as well as the Sentinel, but descends even better.

@@deantennantmtb makes sense. You’ve put out some of my favorite vids (Days Gone By), stoked to see you have a channel!
Thank you man I appreciate that! I just started the channel in 2023, and will be adding some of my older videos to it along with new content. 🍻
Sick upgrades! Love the shuttle Velcro, they are all great tips, great attention to detail.
Great vid, sure to make your bike fly. Cheers bro
Thanks brother, glad you liked the vid. Tricks of the trade 😉
Meanwhile I make my front fenders with fiberglass. I would lie saying it's not messy and lots of hours 😅
That sounds interesting!
Are you making larger fenders with more of an arch, like the big mudhuggers or what you would find on a fox40 ? Or a similar size to whats shown here?

@@deantennantmtb he did a bunch of stuff for Vital as well. I really like the head to head comparisons (side by side) he does.
Ya looks like he has awesome videos I will dive into this weekend!
After one wet riding 3of5 upgrades will go to better world:DSorry, but this is useless stuff, only idea with fender will be doing well:)

I taped my fork and steer tube and it lasted a couple seasons and regular washing. That mastic tape I also use and it’s bombproof.
