There are two tricks that I have learned for frying foods in a stainless steel pan. 1. You have to "temper" the pan. You do this by heating the pan and then adding a bit of oil, swirling it around in the pan or using a paper towel to coat the bottom of the pan. once you see the oil shimmer or just start to smoke, take it off the heat. This will create a bit of a baked on coating for the pan. Let it cool, and wipe out any excess oil before you start cooking whatever you are frying. 2. you must let the food you are frying cook enough to start to brown so it will release from the pan on its own. If you mess with it or try to turn it too soon, it will stick no matter what method you use.

I always LOOOOVE your content but I must say, the cheese board got me click on the video ever quicker :D I've never had artisan vegan cheeses and I've been dying to try! Honestly, I hope more and more brands will get on board as the typical, plasticky vegan cheeses are not the best ;P

A well seasoned cast iron skillet makes the best pancakes and French toast. You have to occasionally re-season it though. Also, never use soap when you clean it.

That french toast looks amazing! I've been experimenting with making crusty bread in a cast iron dutch oven so I'll try it with that. Oh and here in Montana in the US, it gets dark about four-thirty in the afternoon these days. Cold and dark and snowy evenings make me want warm comforting food like this even more :)

thank you for your kind words! it's the warmest year on record in sweden and at the moment it's about 8 degrees celsius and very grey. I don't expect snow in malmo, at least not the kind that stays on the ground. so far it's snowed a little two times and both times it just melted away as it fell. hope you enjoy the city despite the grey! :)

Love your videos! If I want something to not stick, like pancakes or French toast, I wait until the pancakes bubble or French toast become really crispy! This helped the food to lift off the pan as it cooks :)

I live in Zimbabwe so we are enjoying our summertime. But it's also the rainy season and we have had quite a lot of rain this year. Been a few years since we've had this much rain, we are quite drought-prone

I am experiencing the same weather as you. I live in Mogenstrup, Denmark. I moved from Oregon, USA. It's really grey and cold. This is the first year that I have to take vitamin D just to get through the dark season. I have lived here almost 11 years.
I love this video (as usual), Malin! I made a vegan cheese board for my family's thanksgiving gathering, which included vegan brie from a local vegan cheese shop in Austin, Texas, as well as apricot jam, vegan sausage slices, and crackers. It was a hit! Your cheese board has me inspired to do it again for Christmas with even more types of cheese and toppings! I can't imagine what it's like to have it get dark just past 3pm, since here in Texas, it gets dark at about 5:30pm right now and that feels early to me! 😂

I have the same issue with cast iron 🙃 can’t make it work for me either. We season it, no soap etc...but it always sticks. So jealous of your cheeses! We do not have the variety of vegan cheeses here. Our sunset in California USA is around 4:45pm.

You need to season your pans! If you google it, you can find tutorials for it everywhere. But I still have a good non-stick pan at home for those 'I don't feel like deep washing a pan afterwards' moments.
