I played a mid 70s Telecaster bass for several years back in the 80s. At the time, I bitched and moaned about the weight, the muddy sound, and how the slab shape would almost cut my wrist. Now, I want one so bad and can't wait to check out the Vintera II tele bass!
Dude, not only do I love the video, but the Well Hung banner in the background! I own 8 Well Hung straps, one for each bass and guitar that I own. You've got great taste! Lol!
I owned a 1976 model that I purchased in a pawn shop for $300. It was ash, three piece body, with a very nasty knot hole in the back. Typical natural finish. It weighed a lot but the raw sounds that came out of it were beautifully brutal. Wish I still had it!
That is pretty cool bass ,I wonder if it has the chunky neck like the old one had? Or should I say thick from front to back . Is so I am going to be interested in one. I have the 50 version it has the wide neck but not thick ,like some of the reissues.. But she is gorgeous
Made better than the original too no doubt. Scott is clearly a big mud-bucker fan; that was obvious long before this video. The 1-pc maple neck with a less compressed sound--vs. a 2-pc maple and rosewood or mahogany--complements that pickup well. Hello, from TB, BTW. 👋That's cool and all but GD I want that Bass VI bad!
You're not the only one! Originally these came with flat wound strings that didn't help much. Also the powerful Wide Range brutalized many a speaker. The Telecaster Bass has a unique tone not suited to all styles. It's a great addition to the arsenal but I wouldn't recommend it to a player as thier only bass.
Scott, I've been eyeing these for a while now. You are sorely tempting me (yet again)!
Love this review! Thanks, brother. I think this bass will match my playing style too.
Thanks for this and the others reviews you've done on your channel. Nice playing too

Excellent review! I'm so glad Fender finally came out with the Vintera line.
I had a 68 model. I put a bassass bridge on it. It also had a overwound pickup. Great sound.

That's just so sweet. 👍
Coolest gibson bass fender ever made
Right?😅
This and the unofficial Fenderbird
great review dude. these are currently over £1000 in the Uk. will get saving!
Love the colour
I was thinking to buy this bass. My only concern is, how smoothly my hand goes around the neck. I know the neck finish is gloss urethane, that´s why..
I was waiting for your video on this.
Now that your “sadly highly modified” 1979 is unnecessary… you know that I love that one. 🤣🤣🤣

No it has a p-bass neck
Just order mine Monday in Surf Green 8 lbs from Sweetwater 36 month 0 interest ,cant wait! Lol
Kind of reminds me of my Ric with the neck pickup solo'd.
Exactly what I thought. Might have to get one of these
Will that wide range fit into a Gibson EB-3 route?
Great review .sounds mighty .the only thing what about the neck is it baseball size .? Is it chunky. I'm thinking no way
I doubt it, by the looks of the video it doesn’t look like it. The one that has a chunky neck is the Fender Cabronita Bass . I own it so I know.
No,it has a p-bass neck

Bass vi?
I'd love to get one of those, but for me, I'd have to put in a nasty jazz pickup in the back to cut thru, and a blend knob, of course. Ha
Peace man
@JLP59 You would not be the first to do that 😄 Scroll down through my videos and check out my 1979 Telecaster Bass with four, count 'em four pickups😲
Where do i put my thumb?
Tendrías que agregar un apoyo
Is the hardware chrome or Nickel plated? Thomann indicates Nickel, but fender does not state anything.
Chrome as in the originals.
That humbucker should be nearer the bridge, and the shape of the bass is wrong 😂. Great review as always.
Leave it to Mark to find fault with the Fender. 😂😂😂
Yes,the upper horn is longer and dosent fit in my form fitted telecaster bass case
looks like a slab body. yeah the single pickup in the middle.
i had a 72 tele bass they still sound like a fart in a bath tub lol

Ouch, tengo uno y no es muy versátil, he pensado en colocar Mic tipo jazz, pero me arrepiento 😅
70s-80s ash sucks, my '76 StingRay weighs 12 lbs. OTOH my '55 swamp ash 2 piece body P weighed a tad over 7.
That said Beautiful Bass! Killer Tone!
