    The best thing about the Kubicki is there is no middle, just a mid-boost. Personally I'm not a fan of middle, I always leave middle centred on my 3 band eq basses. I boost the bass and treble.
    Have you tried Mayones basses ? Absolutely incredible sound and build quality.

    • @BrooksysBassCorner
      @BrooksysBassCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Peter, thanks for the comment. I assume you mean the mid-boost on the settings control? Yeah, that's not enough sadly...some of the Fender's had a trim pot in the control cavity but neither of mine have. It's that lack of mids that made Stu Hamm fit a split-P pickup on one of his white ones as Joe Satriani claimed it lacked the midrange thump he wanted to hear. Each to their own I guess!
      I've played quite a few Mayones basses over the years and reviewed quite a few too. Agreed, very good basses, although the circuits are usually off the shelf 'standard' circuits but they do a fine job.
      All the best!

      @@BrooksysBassCorner I'm considering a fretless Fender of some sort. I'm playing a Mustang now and I'd like something that sounds like Jaco Pastorius or Tony Franklin. Thanks for asking. The drop tuner seems interesting, too. Does anyone make a short scale fretless bass?

    • @BrooksysBassCorner
      @BrooksysBassCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeff, I would imagine there will be plenty of short scale fretless basses but if you have a particular bass model that works for you, you can always buy a fretted one and have it defretted, it doesn't cost much to have it done. I have just bought a Jive Bass (long-scale) by The Bass Centre here in the UK and had that defretted... a typical Jazz Bass variant, available in various colours and it plays and sounds fantastic. I have 42 in my collection with my last purchase being a Fender Aerodyne P in candy apple red. Loved seeing your collection and here is a tip when travelling with your basses. Do not check your instruments but do what is called a door delivery. Your gear will be loaded as last into the cargo hold and pulled off first and handed to you as you leave the plane on the ramp.

    • @BrooksysBassCorner
      @BrooksysBassCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment. Nice one.....you need to do a video! Sadly all the old tricks of travelling with a bass don't work anymore, certainly not here in the UK. After another 'delayed baggage' incident last time I played abroad, I may just get the PA companies to provide an instrument at their end. Remove all the jeopardy from the process! Cheers!

    Sorry , as I did try to keep this comment as short as possible...
    It was great to finally see your collection of bass guitars & Thank You for taking the time to go through each 1 & give a description on each bass guitar along with remembering information about where you got them & also others that you bought in a private sale kind of way...
    I'm surprised you knew exactly were you got them all & roughly what year , as IF I purchased them from different stores i'd need to write down where i bought it as once we get into or pass single digits as to what guitars I've bought I always have them photographed & all the relevant information is added within the description of each particular bass guitsr
    but as I've stated in the past , the only shop worth worth watching the preowned & new bass guitars is my local GuitarGuitar Store...
    For me its been easy because I decided to buy back all the bass guitars I had to sell in 2017 , plus I've bought bass guitars that were added on to their online website & for some I've wanted for decades I predominantly bought from GuitarGuitar & this was the main source for all my bass guitars apart for some bass guitars that were/are preowned bass guitars on other websites , like Mark's at Bass Direct...
    I got some from GuitarGuitar & also from Mark at Bass Direct but only 1 was from an online seller in Japan & that is my Matsumoku made Aria Pro II SB1000 Bass Guitar... The others like my Status Series II Bass Guitar/Status KingBass Artist Bass Guitar & the 1991 version i managed to buy just before they stopped releasing this bass in 1991 & now it can be bought again but as a Reissue Version & thats my original 1991 MusicMan Sabre Bass Guitar & my last bass i bought from Mark at Bass Direct which is the Matsumoku Made Aria Pro II SBR-80 Bass Guitar , as for the Pedulla Buzz Fretless Bass Guitar I bought from GuitarGuitar also...
    Though they managed to get in 1 bass guitar I never thought I'd see in a Guitar Store & that was the Pedulla Buzz Fretless Bass Guitar & no doubt there's a bigger better range of all brands of bass guitars in England & hence why I decided that the only way to get certain bass guitars could & would be in England/Wales or Ireland & I saw a Fender Built Kubicki Factor Bass Guitar advertised from a seller in Ireland but I want Phil's version of the Kubick Factor Bass Guitar...
    I had a good laugh at your comments were you got to a particular bass guitar which I can't remember which one it is but when you said that with regards to bass guitars you didn't need anymore bass guitars but then you said that's not true as you can never have enough bass guitars...
    I've tried to explain this to my ex partners & friends over many decades & that 1 bass guitar has its own sound & as you said you could play 4 or 5 of the exact same bass guitar but they all sounded a little different on each one & hence why I always , when possible , go to the store selling a specific bass guitar & getting your hands on it & then play it to see IF that's the bass guitar for that particular person...
    I couldn't fault you on all those bass guitars apart from that Fender Kubicki Factor Bass Guitar that had neck issues but that was good of Phil to ask you to send it back & he'd fix it...
    I was surprised not to see any model of a John Diggins Bass Guitar which I've noticed many people buy the JD Supernatural Series I Bass Guitar , but I'm guessing since you have 2 Alembic Bass Guitars & the 2nd one looks more like it could do those tones that Mark goes for but I have not put in any playing on an Alembic Bass Guitar & it could be a case of both Alembic Bass Guitars can get Mark's punchy bright sound...
    I have the 4 String Version of the 5 String Lakland Skyline Deluxe you bought , being the Lakland 44-02 Skyline Deluxe but in a Cherry Sunburst Finish & it's only now that I'm looking at this particular bass that some sites with information say Deluxe at the end & some don't but I'm sure mine your 5 String is the Deluxe Vrsion , as i still have the price tag & it says Deluxe...
    Ok my TH-cam friend I want take up anymore of your time & I think I will order in a delivery of a Dominios Pizza...
    As Always Take Care & All The Best

    • @BrooksysBassCorner
      @BrooksysBassCorner  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A great bass and a great choice! Well, there are a few determining factors...do you play gigs and need a second bass as back up? Do you want a different bass so you have different bass tones? Do you want something that looks and feels different? You don't have to own a second bass, and many players don't... but if you are playing live, I would always advocate having a second bass in case a string breaks or the battery in an active bass dies or something else on your main bass malfunctions. If you like the bass you have, and you like it a lot, maybe buy another one so if a disaster occurred on a gig, you could pick the second one up and carry on with the same sounds or tones. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Hi Duke, thanks for the comment, much appreciated! Yes, the Statii have a place in my heart. And yes, the AB40 doesn't have many feedback issues whatsoever, only when you really push it with the EQ flat out. Cheers!

      @Duke Erickson Klos make replacement graphite necks. Some of the recent Schecter's (Indonesian and South Korean built) have carbon graphite rods in them, which seems to be a good half way house.

    • @BrooksysBassCorner
      @BrooksysBassCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite the same thing. A lot of manufacturers have used graphite rods for neck stiffening since the mid-90s but they certainly don't add anything to the sound or offer the super-stability of a graphite neck. lord knows, I've reviewed hundreds of basses with rods and you'd be amazed how many still have neck issues and twists. Rods certainly don't solve that issue, although they do reduce the chances of twists occurring.

    Weird that producer loving your tone but being hung up on the bass not having a Fender logo on it. The tone and your playing should have been the only things that mattered to him, not the branding on the instrument. Seriously, what the hell?!
