God Bless Leon. Great singer and actor. The Band for those who are too young.
Levon's time on the screen is about 5 minutes or so. That's all. Yet his impact is astonishing! He's the most riveting character in this very entertaining film. His short appearance is as memorable as Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs (who had 17 minutes of screen time, but won an Oscar), and Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider whose short appearance was awesome.
Or Donald Sutherland in JFK.
Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross
@@Famijoly Oh yes!!!!
The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.
A true Master of his craft, RIP Levon Helm, what a great scene, i can watch it over and over, Bravo Maestro......
"A brutal son of a bitch" my favorite line! XD
Hahaha! Watching it again on TV, just past this bit with Levon Helm. Love it!!!
"still got the shovel" was mine. But have to agree this is by far the best scene/exchange in the whole movie!
+Zaria Greene They also said that artificial sweeteners were safe, WMDs were in Iraq and Anna Nicole married for love.
Probably the greatest movie support role in history, this one is a gem.
I could listen to that southern drawl all day. Just perfect for this scene. He tells a great story
I remember watching The Band some decades ago.
Levon Helm was a Giant.
Still is. R.I.P. L.H. ❤
Cheers, Gunny❕❕
This and the coin flip scene in No Country for Old Men are two of the most iconic and memorable scenes ever
He won an Oscar for that performance, didn’t he, didn’t he, NO…… he owned that scene. When you want to remember that movie that’s the scene you remember first & formost
Seen this movie 100 times... Still my fave scene.. Sums up the movie in 1 scene, riveting stuff
The old man was the lead singer and drummer of the musical group The Band...Levon is crazy talented. RIP Levon.
Mr. Levon Helm was one of the most riveting parts of the movie "SHOOTER" in a movie that was chock full of riveting talent on display!!!! I did not know Mr. Helm personally but he immediately put me in mind of my grandfather who in his own right was a commanding presence and told about his past experiences in the almost exact same manner as Mr. Helm did on the big screen. I only wish I could have known Mr. Helm in real life as I believe he must have been a talented and captivating gentleman.
RIP Mr. Levon Helm and may you continue to entertain the Heavenly Hosts with your wit, humor and talent.
and boys and girls that's exactly how an old tuff southner talks and tells a story trust me that guy nailed the scene and the part about the Coffey was dead on as well.BRAVO !
When I first saw this movie I did not recognize the guy in the glasses. I loved the comment "still got the shovel". RIP Levon.
Them old timers are the realest SOB on the planet, they were from time where one had to be tough to get through life. Love hearing Old Timers talk about the past.
Amazing musical and actor and one of the best voices ever, RIP Levon Helm, you gave me one of my favorite songs, The Weight. "Still got the shovel!" I love it.
This old crack is one of the coolest characters ever written! Thank you for posting!
Reminded me of the Donald Sutherland general in Oliver stones JFK ..small part, big impact...
Even for a short scene, he should have won the best supporting actor...
Big-time!!!
“The moment you think you got it figured, you’re wrong...”
Thank you, TH-cam, for continually recommending dimes 👌
This movie is uncomfortably prophetic.
“Still got the shovel.”
Jesus H Christ. What a line.
I love this character in Shooter. Such a standout scene
Levon was the right pick for the part, the look, voice, dialogue, perfect fit
I'd call Mr Helm a scene steeler but he did that with every interaction he had his whole life. Rest in peace sir.
..........................worth an Academy Award for Levon Helm...........!!!
Levon Helm, RIP. (Drummer, Singer, Guitar & Bass, and with Martin Scorsese as his long time best friend, Actor). Everything he touched turned to gold. God love ya…
Seems I’ve heard about a shot like that being made not too long ago. They’ve said the guys name was Thomas Matthew Crooks
Levon is the man. RIP
this has some straight level with true life.....just when u think you ve got it.....you re wrong!!!
Best scene in the movie...
"yeah,,the world ain't what it seems is it gunny"
Levon Helm was one of the last Renaissance men. Incredible songwriter and musician with The Band formerly, Bob Dylan and the Band and quite the great character actor.
best line in the whole movie... You know this for a fact? Still got the shovel!
Levon Helm was absolutely perfect for this character. One of my favorites. Remember The Band.
Best part about this is the only acting Levon really did was put on the extra drawl. He told stories from the good ole days like this. Natural story teller
This is THE best scene in the entire movie.
"Another one in France, I know he's dead."
That sounds like a "with my own eyes" statement.
Phil M
Or maybe he’s the one who killed him.

The full implication is that it was a counter sniper op.
