One "urban legend" I tricked myself into believing. Was that Raichu was playable in Super Smash Bros Melee. Now why did I think that? Well, because it just didn't make sense to me as to why they would have Pikachu and Pichu playable and not Raichu. So I scoured the Internet to find anything about it but, alas I found nothing
The "push the secret pick-up truck to release and catch Mew"-one for Pokemon Blue and Red is missing. That one drove me nuts back in the day since there even was this secret truck, but nothing you could do with it
Probably had something to do with the text that shows when U fight one of the secret characters in MK2. It says something like "Now you will fight an undiscovered kombatant from Mortal Kombat 1", plus the stage was Goro's Lair from MK1.
The funny thing was what the magazines told you to do to get to Shen Long. Completed the game only getting perfects and never losing a round. Then take Bison to 10 rounds. I personally watched a ton of great players get up to round 4 or 5 on bison trying to complete this bogus trick. Love old school gaming.
I'm surprised that when you brought up the nude codes, that you didn't also reference the "Nudality" rumor in the Mortal Kombat series, especially considering you bring up the series.
Omega Ranger From Power Rangers SPD In Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go! but there was that one Jetix crossover bumper with Yin Yang Yo!, SRMTHFG!, Power Rangers Mystic Force Ect. It's on TH-cam If you're curious
The manual for the German version of Secret of Mana claimed that there was a secret piece of armor hidden somewhere in the game. My friend and I spent hours looking for this secret armor. Found out many years later that this was some sort of misunderstanding by the translators and there was never any secret armor.
Great video!!, so many memories! Popular kids would talk tirelessly about those supposed cheats back in the day: crazy secrets for Street Fighter 2 and MK, hidden levels for a brand new arcade shooter, and of course the naked Lara Croft.
I want a video about the sounds in games that we constantly mimic or use in real life. Some lines I think of would be like Mario's "wahoo" or "its a me, Mario", or Black Ops "the numbers Mason, what do they mean?". My personal most memorable sound was Donkey Kong's wind up when he's at bat in Mario Superstar Baseball because my friend group thought it was hilarious to use IRL
OK, I know we already got 2 shadow of the colossus remasters and I normally hate when studios rushed new versions of games that aren't old but 48 bosses sounds just too good
uhhhhhhh... you know there was even some form of internet before the year 1995/6 when it was commercialized, right? You even have a game that was played online on there. There's only 2 on here that I'd count pre-internet.
Often if the rumour of how to do something involved jumping through hoops to achieve doing obscure things that were in no way relevant then chances are it was fake. But then then was always that one kid at school who claims they done it but when asked to show you they always had an excuse like they lost their save data or when they tried it again it didn't work, but they really did pull it off for real.
i been playing thru the original ff7 recently, cause i never beat it growing up. i got to the big snake a didnt know what to do next. haha. my laptop aint good enough to play the remake.
Been a while since I did a playthrough, but I wanna say yes......bone village, key to sector 5, yada yada. I wanna say that was all disc 1, because you have to go through Bone Village to have Aerith die.
Pre-internet gaming was so magical
The magic is not lost, just harder to see amongst the trash. Black Myth Wukong for example definitely has that magic.
everyone knew a kid who SWORE they pulled off the fake cheat
@@Skeksis-skeksilnot really since not everyone is interested in that game or games like it
@@lilmissknowitall5775not everyone I definitely didn’t
@@csquire667 most people loved it, so what I said is true.
You forgot about that truck off the coast of Vermillion city, there's no way to move the truck and no new. Pokemon red and blue were cruel.
Jep, I also thought about that one. Even more so that this truck is kinda hidden, and you have to do a lot of workaurounds to get there
Ah the ten year old me loved that myth
i am disappointed at the lack of mention of the mew under the truck rumor
I TOTALLY fell for the "revive Aerith" trick from FF7 back in the day and wasted MANY hours trying to pull it off, lol.
That's a real thing just took people 20 ish years to figure out how. In the last few years they figured it out :)

For me it was Sonic & Tails by eliminated 100 fighters in cruel melee.
I also remember "Ganonlink" if Ganondorf and Young link die at the EXACT same time. It was so daunting to see what "Ganonlink" would be like
The "push the secret pick-up truck to release and catch Mew"-one for Pokemon Blue and Red is missing. That one drove me nuts back in the day since there even was this secret truck, but nothing you could do with it
Mortal Kombat I remember Smoke was rumored as a hidden character in the first one. Which I believe ended up in the 2nd also.

Impressive anyone could have that many tied rounds with Bison, with chip damage existing and all.
My favorite hoax secret as a child was somehow finding Mew in Pokémon Red and Blue, supposedly under a truck.
You could play as former 007s on Game Genie.
Yea I totally remember doing that with my GAMESHARK
What, no “Simon Belmont is unlockable on TMNT the Arcade Game on NES”?
I'm surprised that when you brought up the nude codes, that you didn't also reference the "Nudality" rumor in the Mortal Kombat series, especially considering you bring up the series.
The "nude code" was legendary. Everyone knew a kid that actually saw it work.
How can Shadow of the Colossus be pre-internet?
Thinking the same thing

I hope "my uncle works at Nintendo" makes an appearance.

I feel the list needed the mew and the truck hoax
Old timers like myself remember the BATTLEZONE myth: if you kept driving your tank towards it you could eventually reach the volcano.
🙌
Sheng Long is hilariously in the SF6 World Tour mode. Making him real finally
I'm 33 years old, and I'm just now realizing there was no see through visor for DOA Xtreme beach volleyball😅
The magnum in RE 1 had explosive rounds but you had to use a GameShark type thing to make it work

No L is real? Or mew under the truck? Or the RSE rumor that would eventually become the delta episode in ORAS?
Ps2 is pre internet? Wow man wow
Poor journalism.
@@Rodgerwilco91 if anyone making a TH-cam video makes them a journalist, then commenting on Twitter makes you a politician
The internet was about in 2003, right?!
OK, I know we already got 2 shadow of the colossus remasters and I normally hate when studios rushed new versions of games that aren't old but 48 bosses sounds just too good
My buddies and I were convinced you would get a new horse if you got 100% on the horseback bow challenge. I finally did it and no horse.
“SSJ4 Goku” on the original Budokai was one of the biggest waist of time in my child hood😵💫
Man, i miss the days before the internet existed. Things just seemed simpler, even gaming😂😢.
3:53 Let’s go everyone, once again: “colossi” is the plural, “colossus” is the singular. This means “one colossus” and “many colossi”. You’re welcome
And since both Akuma and Gouken were based off Sheng Long, they just made them brothers since they in essence came from the same person.
Video game pockets notwithstanding, how is one expected to carry an entire engine from the shop to an ambulance, install it, and succeed?
Pokegods and mew under truck are missing
Anyone heard of Akuma in RE2 ?
Came here for this! I remember that article. My buddy and I tried forever to unlock him!
@@Okie_Sasquatch yup another April fools prank with fake pics.
Wow, I completely forgot about the "other Bonds" rumor.
Shadow of the Colossus was 2005 and I was going to college by then. I was AIM chatting my friends through high school. Who wrote this?
Also the Resident Evil 2 Akuma unlock was a thing for PS1
The rumor that Sonic and Tails were in Smash Bros melee. Was crazy
If you hit the A button when the Pokeball is midair it actually turns into a Master Ball
The internet does also make it easier to lie and make fake things though.
I'll be first second or third to admit that I definitely tried to find the nudity code... For any video game
#8 using a gameshark can acess the models, but yeah no way other than that or a patch if using an emulator
Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 for the west at the time). General Leo as a permanent party member.

Saw Mario 64 in the thumbnail and thought Ninja Mario was going to get a shoutout.
Top 10 claims that were so stupid that were real
Leaving the muti fake methods to unlock mew and the pokegods plus missingno
Mew under the truck? Use strength? Need I say more?
Dang, it took years but Animality is real now
"Now?" How old are you? There's been Animalities since MK3.
I totally remember having that issue of EGM and I was obsessed with Street fighter 2 at the time. Bunch of bullshit. Haha
Should have put the mew truck in this video
There was supposedly a "nude cheat code" in the game "BMX" or "BMX vs ATV." Something like that
Not BMXXX? That seems like it would be the one 😅
BMX XXX? I remember that game, but not a nudity code as it was already topless
Ocarin-A not ocarin-ER 🤦🏻♂️ 🤦🏻♂️ 🤦🏻♂️

It is real.
Sorry I gotta. 1 colossus, many colossi. It would be the 17th collossus
Thank you! 🤣
I'm sorry, did they just pronounce ocarina as ocariner? I know accent and all, but that just sounded weird.
GEORGE LAZANBY??
Can you regain access to Midgar Sector 5 in Disc 1 of FF7? I didn't think that was possible.
Been a while since I did a playthrough, but I wanna say yes......bone village, key to sector 5, yada yada.

No pokemon mew truck or trading for Yoshi
Ok
Modded not pirated.
Why does it feels like every conspiracy nut out there fell for trust me bro?!? 🤔🤪🤣
Because that's how "conspiracy nuts" work? They wouldn't be "conspiracy nuts" if they were skeptical.

Dead or alive xtreme volleyball time have pc mods already...
so are you saying the internet was before mods?nooooooo
