"You have to admit that any potential is squandered in favour of milking its player-base for all it's worth." That one line would capture Destiny 2 perfectly.... even in 2022.
That line describes everything wrong with live service games as a whole. Anything that could make the game more fun or benefit the experience first has to pass through the "yeah but how can we monetize this?" greed of the company. It's why stories in live service games always feel so incomplete. They purposely cut things out that they wouldn't in a traditional game and dangle you along with promises of "trust us we will answer everything in the next expansion, just $buy$ it and you'll see."

Does that tell you anything? It should.
You may hate it, but whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

I feel like they missed a huge opportunity in Cayde's funeral scene. Ikora seems more focused on revenge, while Zavala is tired of war. There could have been a great storyline to branch off of this, where the factions of the tower are split, with those who are pro revenge and others that aren't. You wouldn't have them fight, this shouldn't be a rehash of Avengers Civil War, but there would be a power play, maybe a duel... there could be one side that your character picks. Both vanguard leaders are sick of the other and Ikora tries to take the mantle of Speaker in order to gain more political power, to have her say. If you pick her, then she becomes the new speaker and you go all out in revenge. The gear you would get as a reward would be attack based loot, pure damage stuff. Zavala the opposite, being 100% defensive. There's 100% a way to swap the Speaker npc in game depending on which one u chose with ur character.

Borderlands did many things well, but the twist ending was not one of them. It was panned at released and later admitted to by Gearbox as being shit. It's done better in Forsaken because you know something bad is going to happen, and you are rewarded with loot within the Dreaming City upon completing the boss. Not saying Forsaken's ending is good, just that it's better than Borderlands' ending.

Speaking of which, if you got no ads, congrats on having adblock or TH-cam subscription, but there are 6 ads.
yeah, but the problem is that the game never tells you that outside of extensive lore tabs. It's a problem with the Destiny way of storytelling and world building. It's akin to opening up a Lord of the Rings book in the middle of it and reading on, completely skipping over the world building part. You have no idea who these characters are unless you go out of your way to learn about them, but shoving exposition and world building down your throat is also an idiot proof way of boring people to death. I know right? When there are games that are cheaper to make than yours coming out and they got more content and variety than yours, you did something wrong and need to go back to the drawing board.
Most of their money goes to art direction and music and skip everything else... Might as well made a movie, it would be more worth paying for than a shallow game.

Anyway, people should spend as much money on my "Impact" and "Dance of Death" James Grider novels on Amazon as they have on the expansion packs for this game.
u still playing it? I think I have the opposite approach to the game imo, I love it and I want to play it but I just can't play it for more than an hour at a time every few days
I never played Destiny 1. I just recently got Destiny 2 with a couple of friends when Blizzard started handing it out for free. We played to level 20, then bought the Forsaken+season pass bundle since it was on a 25% discount. From our point of view the game has been just great, and all these returned/returning features are completely new features to us.
It's a good game at heart. Remember that Bungie created Halo, a legendary franchise with an amazing story. It's Activision that pushes them to add in the microtransactions and half ass content they don't have the control that they used to have. I've played since Destiny 1 and what I can tell you is even tho at times it may feel like you don't know what's going on in the story, listen to some of the NPC's like Lord Saladin or the Gunsmith when walking around, read some of the sayings that come on the guns and armor you find. Bungie knows how to tell a story they just have to work with what they've got with Activision over their shoulder. Its clear that Activision sees a different vision.
Same here. When you get it with the discount and get the base game free, it's actually a great value for the amount of content and fun you get out of it.
The lack of armor customization by means of forcing me to wear whatever crap happens to be higher level or else I'm forced to consume materials and money to infuse my better looking gear (my best gear is either outdated from an old expansion or has horrible perks, or both) coupled with the constant switching to whatever weapon is my strongest is absolutely infuriating for me and what ultimately drove me to stop playing.
One reason why the raids are always the greatest part of the game (curse of Osiris raid excluded) is because no one is talking in your ear, and it’s a massive mystery to explore and kill the bosses on the ship. Everything you do makes you feel like it actually matters because there aren’t useless dull characters speaking in your ear the whole time. The raids are one of only reason I still play he franchise.
Isaac Evanoff I actually liked Eater of Worlds, but ya I agree, the raids are one of the only reasons I play. It just sucks that it takes so long to get to them.
I’ve beaten Last Wish on my Hunter and Titan so far, and it is my second favorite raid, second only to Kings fall. All of the encounters are fun and engaging for every player. And the fact that the raid weapons are random rolls gives me a reason to play the raid every week. And with the raid giving humongous power drops, it should incentivize players that have never tried a raid before to give it a shot. It’s truly fantastic
"I fear that in another 2 years we're going to be in the same place again. I really hope they're not doing this on purpose, cause that would be sick." I can't believe that this man actually predicted Shadowkeep.

And also, Destiny 2's moon looks 93% different compared to Destiny 1's moon. So kindly relax and pay attention

_Mana _ they were introduced in the lore and killed in the lore, they had it as concept art just to better visualize what they looked like. Basically you’re just complaining because you jumped on a hate train and complain about the story when you’ve never read the lore. The reason they killed off cayde as opposed to Zavala or Ikora is because no one would have cared at all if either of those non characters had been killed.
The only reason people cared that Cayde died is because he was voiced by Nathan Fillion, besides that he’s only slightly better a character than anyone else. And after replacing him with Nolan North they basically put him in the same league as Ikora it Zavala
Murloc Masher his personality is his only trait and it’s cliche. Like IHE said he’s not a character, anyone that thinks he was is either a shill, a drone or a child
The one thing I really dislike about Destiny is the fact that the BASE GAME isn't very good. When a game requires someone to pay more on top of the original price, in order to have a proper experience with the game it has failed. It would be like Skyrim requiring someone to buy the Hearthstone and Dragonborn DLC's in order to have fun. DLC is supposed to be additional & optional content not a subscription fee
based skyrim has more content than destiny2+forsaken. Activision is known to have shit sales, and there's a reason why they are hated. They destroy spyro, crash bandicoot, and so many other great games. All these games they bought out, and tarnished by this company. They added multiple dlcs, and crap content to their games. Skyrim is going to last longer than destiny 2 which is the funny part. You saw the shit that he said about the forsaken expansion. They added meaningless grinding for the main quest line, and i can see most people dropping it at the spider dude part. They took what people said about the initial release for not having enough content into that. They just recycled that shit, and i'll say that's lazy. Its like if i work in a restaurant, and they wanted more soup. I just added in water, and brought it back out. That is the kind of shit that they just pulled with the forsaken.

People aren't butthurt, they're correcting his blatant idiocy. He said that Riven is never explained, when he also has footage of him walking around the Dreaming City. That means he played through the mission that she is extensively explained. Simply put, excusing IHE's lies and misinformation with the notion that those pointing such things out are "butthurt," is only a part of the problem IHE is becoming.
Joel Taveras no, he doesn’t. I like Alex a lot and his videos are great, but most of the times the value of his content is not in his commentary, he talks way to much shit without knowing what he’s really saying, and this is not the first time he’s done it. Know that’s not a problem at all as it’s his “opinion” but just like 90% of TH-cam critics and commentator he uses that as an excuse to shield himself from criticism and discussions, because this is honestly not an opinion, he’s nos saying “I don’t like destiny because I don’t like bright colors” that’s an opinion, it holds no facts nor real critic values. But start talking about game design and narrative that’s no longer an opinion you’re analyzing something out of factual knowledge and before you talk like that you really have to get your facts together. I don’t like destiny but reading some comments people and fans have genuinely tell Alex where he fucked up his critic, he didn’t knew some things and that’s fine, we can have mistakes when we criticize things, and that’s so rich, when you can learn more about a subject and make your points stronger, but you can either correct yourself or defend your point, learn and say “well I did fucked up but I stand behind mi points” or say “you’re just a bunch of idiots this is just my opinion”. The same thing happened with his atrocious review of the last Jedi, instead of saying “i like this movie because I enjoyed watching it” he goes to say that it was narratively strong (lmao) and once people called him out he protect himself with “it’s just my opinion” a lot of people treat IHE like an all knowing god, he’s not, neither YMS, neither Ralph TMM nobody is, stop treating them as they are, they can and know things and that’s fine but suprise suprise they can fuck up.
SirCreepsAlott definitely isn’t unjust, Destiny 2 was a flop at launch and made the same mistakes they made with D1, now 1 year later they have done the exact same thing with forsaken as they did with TTK, completely revitalized the game into an really good game. It sucks that they can never stick the launch and it takes a year to get everything back on track, but when it is back on track it’s one of the best games out there.

@Good ol' Cirno I don't see very many people throwing temper tantrums. Most of it is valid criticisms of this "review" where IHE either lazily or willfully misrepresented a lot of what this game has to offer. You can't have a proper review when you don't even bother touching on some of the largest parts of the game and then complain about things in the game that only make sense if you'd actually touched the end game. Maybe next time follow through with the game if you want answers? For example, the hentai monster he bitched about is a foreshadow to the raid boss and big bad of Forsaken which is made obvious if you play 30 minutes beyond the campaign. Also, what I do see is a lot of replies to these criticisms saying LOL Y U SO SALTY THO. Forsaken isn't perfect, but it has so much more to offer lore wise and gameplay-wise and you'd never get that impression if this was the only video you ever saw reviewing it.

After showing a big super villain being activated and making it seem like you have a whole expansion ahead after you did like one minor side quest to get there, and they called that an expansion for some insane reason.
Shadowkeep did it worse
@@gummy3584 idk, with shadowkeep it was atleast obvious that they were the villain and it was setting something up for the future. With warmind I didn’t even know if Rasputin was still good which he apparently is?
How I remember Warmind: Warrior-man must travel to dark planet with black/white enemies and face off against giant worm monster. And I immediately got a Brethren Moon (dead space) type of vibe from it so I assumed the worm was just simply the bad thing that needed slain.
If Warmind actually told a different story, then it told it appalingly. (caveat: I didn't even remember what the expansion called called until this video reminded me, so I may remember very little of this part of the game from 'bacl then')

Cayde's last words become more meaningful when you realize that he literally became vanguard because of a lost bet (vanguard dare)
yeah, but the problem is that the game never tells you that outside of extensive lore tabs.
From our point of view the game has been just great, and all these returned/returning features are completely new features to us.
nice, man! honestly if you just play the game without concerning yourself about flaws then that's great.
Then again, you’ve spent significantly less money on it than those on Day 1, so there’s that.
Same here. When you get it with the discount and get the base game free, it's actually a great value for the amount of content and fun you get out of it.
This is literally what I did except I got forsaken just a bit early than lvl 20

oh well atleast they finally fixed that what 4 years into the games life? in the worst way possible via a microtransaction fest.

Eater of worlds was great
EoW is fun but it's too short
I’ve beaten Last Wish on my Hunter and Titan so far, and it is my second favorite raid, second only to Kings fall. All of the encounters are fun and engaging for every player. True. Destiny's backstory is ten thousand times more interesting than the actual story... They need to bring it to the same level.
Yep, the lore is amazing but of course if it isn't 100% spelled out, it is ignored like it doesn't exist. People praise Halo but Halo was missing a lot of story that you had to go read the lore for. Same with WoW. That is why I love all three games
That warmind intro so so excellent, and then the goofy half-smile "WE GOT THIS, PLANETEERS!" nonsense... Oh, I laughed, and laughed.

I've never played any Destiny, nor will I ever, yet I knew this expansion starts off with the death of the main robot man who's been a staple of the series since the beginning. Not because of research or interest, but just because of youtube ads. Very strange. Felt like a commercial for episode 5 being nothing more than Darth saying "No, I am your father!"
Right it felt that way since you have no inkling of the lore or whats happening in the series and yet you're ignorant enough to comment on it.
Why not download the free basegame on PlayStation plus? See if you like it, then judge it afterwards? 🙂
@@Cinematron861 For a game that uses cutscenes, you still need pieces of paper to explain to you the characters you're meeting. That's really a sign of bad writing
@@snagc4b427 Haha wow, I'm sorry man but that really just isn't the case. Sure there is a wealth of lore outside the game and I will concede that said lore should be incorporated more frequently in the game world yet never are you required to seek out this extra knowledge to understand the plot or any of your motivations and any character you meet, is just that, you "meet" them and than learn who they are and more about them through your interactions.

I have about 950 hours in Destiny 2, and I didn't even realize that the scorn are slightly different than the fallen until the Fanatic fight. I thought that they were just a new house. They just felt the same.

The reason they killed off cayde as opposed to Zavala or Ikora is because no one would have cared at all if either of those non characters had been killed.
Then make it so they do care
I still didn’t care I already forgot that he died
The only reason people cared that Cayde died is because he was voiced by Nathan Fillion, besides that he’s only slightly better a character than anyone else. And after replacing him with Nolan North they basically put him in the same league as Ikora it Zavala

Goldlight101 osiris and warmind should’ve been vanilla and forsaken should’ve cost 15 IMO
based skyrim has more content than destiny2+forsaken.
Gotta love how Destiny is now just free.

Update: On the grind for Luna's, enjoying the game somewhat less now.
DOUBLE UPDATE: got Luna's months ago and haven't picked up the game since then
People aren't butthurt, they're correcting his blatant idiocy.
I hate everything simply says the truth how is he the problem lol what the fuck
