Good video. I am struggling trying to get single brood system going. I wanted to let my hives build up, get a couple of splits, build up little more, shake them down and add queen excluders and supers. Not working out. Some of the colonies are putty nectar in the top boxes and others are trying to swarm. I have made 4 splits in two weeks on one hive by pulling frames with queen cells on them and putting them in nucs. That would be great but our main flow is in the beginning stages. Should I just start supering or stay the course and keep pushing for single brood management system?
@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer ok thanks Peter. I take that to mean don't worry about making splits , just go ahead and put the queen excluder on and add some supers. Looks like the honey flow will be starting good in about a week. Locust tree are just starting to bloom and white clover is just showing a few blooms. Lots of other flowers and bushes are blooming out. Dandelions will be starting round 2.
this was very good to watch, the hives were very impressive. double thumbs ups
And the kept growing!
I always enjoy your videos have a great day
Thank you! You too!

Sounds like you are just getting to the point where reducing from doubles to singles works best....once the flow has just started in earnest.

Did I see a queen cell on bottom of second or third frame? In first box
We are all looking now 😊😊🐝
Thought it was the very first frame...nope..second😉..but looks like burr comb
I remember waiting for my assistant to ask if was a queen cell but she didn't.....had a better view in person. It was indeed burr comb.
The Queen could be killd by this way?
