USA invested all it's might into NAVY based superiority while Russians simply developed a missile to counter this. What good is a three carrier group hosting hundreds of raptors and lightnings when one missile can remove them from the playing field.
There is only one country that can shot down hypersonic cruise missiles : Russia. Simply because they are the only one who have hypersonic cruise missiles. Shooting down hypersonic ballistic missiles (multiple countries have them) is very difficult, close to impossible...unless it's Russia, because ballistic hypersonic missiles are far easier to down compared to hypersonic cruise missiles...and Russia already have the AD able to do it. Depends on how much time between when the missile is detected, & an AA missile can travel to it before it reaches target. the US has THAAD for ICBM which are also hypersonic (up to mach 17). But very unlike able to shoot down short range hypersonic missiles.
I thank you so much to reports you give us. The way you report , giving details leaves no stone unturned. Surely thank you . At least now we know that American weapons are not superior . Russia has more superior weapons. May God be with Putin and Russia at large
Probably because they are much cheaper, therefore a lot more of them, and while they can be shot down, you need a high end AA system to do it, MANPADs or point defense not enough. They move at supersonic speed and pack a wallop when they hit. Doesn't have the "street cred" of the Kinzhal or Iskander, but probably accounts for most of the dirty necessary work. Also, I had no idea the Kh-32 can withstand hits from 20mm shells and AA missile fragments. That is flat out incredible.
That... is not a good explanation. I'm sorry but that falls completely flat. kh-22 is also important and no one is going "the Russian bombers are coming, get the MANPADS".
yep.. it cant be shot down.. it has self defense capabilities and even 2 atomic bombs on its shell cant bring her down.. She flies mach 378 and ukraines air defense got killed in the first week because of that. it can even hack in your iphone to call you.
I'm sure a large Pac2 Gem C missile could knock it out of sky especially when 2 are fired at each missile. That's 100kgs of explosives each missile hitting near the explosive part of the kh22. It is a huge missile, but US has been shooting these missiles in real target for 4 decades!
"Also, I had no idea the Kh-32 can withstand hits from 20mm shells and AA missile fragments." Likely because the missiles do not fly in a predicable flight path. They alter the path of travel. AA only works if the missile follows a straight path.
Nothing is invincible. You can shoot down a hypersonic missile but you'll probably need 20 missiles with the same price as hyper one. The math is clear. Defending this way will have you bankrupt in few months because each one costs $15 million @ least

Russia has been the the first country to give missiles capabilities for "swarm attacks". Already the Granite anti-ship missile from the 80's has this capabilty. Here one high flying Granite might track the targets, and relay the information to several other low flying Granite missiles. If the high flying missile is shot down, another Granite will take over its place. The high flying missiles might all get shot down, but they might still guide a number of the low flying missiles to hit one or more targets.
Ukraine air-defense is invincible, Patriot system destroys 110% of Kinzhals fired. Who cares if its Mach 10 or 11, big deal, its easy to shoot down. But the Kh-22 at Mach 4? That's an impossible task.
The Russian Hypersonic Kinzhals missiles are almost impossible to being down, especially by Patriot airdefence systems, which were designed in the 70s...and periodicly updated but retained all their original limitations. This is why western airdefences can't shoot down Russian Hypersonics: First, Hypersonics have faster speeds. Second, Hypersonics have changing trajectories on route to targets. Third, Hypersonics detect launched airdefence missiles, and avoid collusion with these missiles. Forth, Hypersonics act in groups, like wolf packs, with decoys, and can change targets at anytime. Every missiles hasan assigned 'role' in the pack. This is nothing new in Russian technology. It existed since the late 70s in the Soviet Airforce. I served with it, as a radar operator and s300 missile system launcher... henceforth I saw first hand why these Soviet weapons work so well, and are very reliable. The s300 was also used as an artillery..vertually devastating all enemy sides. From all the Zelensky Nato claims that I have seen about bringing down Russian Hypersonics, I concluded only political and propaganda value...as Zelensky tried ao hard to please US donors, and show some achievement for all the investments the west poured into his bank account. However, in reality, everything he said was just comedy joke... from someone who has no clue about military technology... especially by the Russian Federation side. But sooner or later, all liers get found out.

Nobody else have this AD systems.

"Also, I had no idea the Kh-32 can withstand hits from 20mm shells and AA missile fragments."
Likely because the missiles do not fly in a predicable flight path.
Ukraine has never shot down a kinzhal missile. They have stated they have but there is no evidence they have. It is beyond Ukraine's ability to do so. Please get your facts right before making these videos.

This is why western airdefences can't shoot down Russian Hypersonics:
First, Hypersonics have faster speeds.

The X-22 that is in service with the Russian army is not the same as the X-22 that was introduced into service in the 1960s. The original X-22 missiles were upgraded to the X-22M variant after a few years, the original inaccurate X-22s were not produced for very long. All used in Ukraine are M variants with improved accuracy and X-32 deeply upgraded variants produced after 1990. The original X-22 could only carry the Tu-22, the Tu-22M3 could only carry the upgraded variants and the original could not.

Kinđal can carry both TU 160 and SU 34 and some versions of SU 35, what is most important is exactly what I said, the more Russian aircraft can be a carrier not only for Kindjal but also for other cruise missiles, the greater the West will have to shoot them down, in essence it is much better To launch missiles from the air than from the ground, which is logical given that the missile has a greater range and speed, it would be best for Russia if it managed to produce a number of MiG-35s that could carry cruise missiles because it is the cheapest and fastest solution for Russia.
