I’ve been thru Alamogordo a few times. The first time I came in from the SW and my first thought was that I felt bad for the airmen and families. I’ve been both active duty AF and dependent spouse and lived on and off base and it didn’t look good. Then I got onto the main drag and stopped at a few places in town. I discovered it was really nice. Just about anything you could need and everybody I had contact with at businesses were great. A while later I came back through the same way (CA to IL) and stopped at one of the same places and was again treated well. Thumbs up!
Sounds like they were roasting hatch chili peppers at Lowe’s Market ; Really do enjoy watching your videos ; In today’s world their is quite a lot of Darkness ; Thanks for making the world a whole lot Brighter ! You are truly an Inspiration ! Apachecowboy , Originally from , Fort Worth , Texas
Have you been up there to the Desert Foothills Park right up there by the mountains in Alamogordo? I remember they had a nice bike trail up there and the thinking that I would like to ride it if I had electric assist. Might be a good spot for a Trikeman to have a go at.
the nice part of the space museum is the rocket thrust shaker machine. it gives you a feeling of standing near one of 3 different types of rockets., decent home owners insurance if it's worth the cost , might aleiviate some feelings about leaving the cabin alone for long stretches of time, but you'd still have to have the mail shut off, someone to mow the grass etc. But considering you really don't own anything of extremely high value , even if the cabin did get broken into just file a claim , get made whole again. But it might not be worth the money for the peace of mind.
Thank you for posting! My grandfather worked for the DoE and spent a lot of time at White Sands back in the day. I think my addiction to Southwestern-style Mexican food began during one of my visits out there as a kid.
this is steve,me and my brother are from Arkansas,my brother said the people in new Mexico are much nicer than Arkansas,my brother lives in sandia and has a business in mountainair.
Thanks for showing Alamogordo, psyched you’re getting solar to free you up for any Boondocking you may feel like doing. More flexibility and freedom, awesome!👌👍😉
Rusty...Have you given up on the cabin? What if the water situation gets resolved next week? If it turns out that it's too expensive I like your idea of staying in Lano and traveling around. You will have have a home base and someone to watch it. Plus you can keep the land as an investment. I'm on your side whatever you decide to do. You definitely have a gypsy spirit.
Sorry to b off topic. I have a few questions about your e-bike, how do you pack it up for travel does it fold smaller. How long does the charge last, will it go up steep hills? Can you alternate between peddling and being motorised? Appreciate your input, I'm a senior & I loved riding a bike but it got where I could get wornout before I was back home. Lol
Edit; OOPS, I might have been wrong on that mountain but its still the Lincoln forest. And I think that mountain called Sierra Blanca is 12,500 which I believe is the highest in the area. I was waiting to watch another driving video to take my mind off our very very hot day here in central Texas. Enjoy the beautiful cool mountains and I suggest you probably stay in NM for another month at least, it is freaking hot here!
Lowe's Market is a regional grocery chain based out of Littlefield Texas. They serve a rural market in the southwest . Big hispanic following with their mecardo stores. And in many of their stores they have hardware, fix up and garden supplies.
@@rusty78609 I know you can''t sublease, but maybe you can work a deal with the RV place to rent while you are gone and they give you a cut of what they make or give you a refund cut of what you paid...either way it's a win win....I know I would certainly ask if was in your position
Another approach might be - build it now while you have the money (if you get water) because - 1) the cabin in that location should be a good investment in the event you decide to sell later - 2) you are likely to need the cabin type of living arrangement at some point in the future - 3) the cost for building the cabin will just go up as time passes by 4) you could likely pay someone locally a small fee to watch after your property when you travel 5) not likely but the city might change the rules preventing you from building the cabin in the future - 6) we would enjoy watching the property development and cabin build - 7) and did I mention you can always sell the cabin in the future - 8) it would also be good for you to get to know some folks that live near your cabin so as you get older they could help keep an eye on you - 9) for now you can travel most of the time and still have the cabin all set up for your living just in case you need it
Many years ago Lazy Daze Motorhomes came with a tiny swamp cooler instead of an air conditioner. Anyone who thinks that is a feasible use of on board water supply has a very different idea of camping than I do.
Comparing 10 yrs in your casita would probably be cheaper than building a place. Just me thinking and I know you can think just fine. You have been very happy, it seems, on this trip. I’m an ole “goat”so what do I know

About February as you contemplate your navel lint the cabin may seem like a good idea. Then June, maybe not so much. I will bet you will figure it out. Or maybe not. Person who lives in the moment has chingles options.

They had the roaster fired up at Kermit yesterday. Nothing like the smell of roasting chile. Its that time of year. Fall on its way.
I can't wait to go back for a visit! 😊
Beautiful skies and mountains
Beautiful skies! Good luck with the dropbox!

Had a swamp cooler in my house in Alpine. It worked great! Really easy to replace any part and very inexpensive.
Good drive. Talk RUSTY. Enjoy your new solar and I hope you have a good weekend
It is really sad to see all that stuff closed!
Alamogordo has a rather provincial and winsome atmosphere. Enjoyed the drive. Thank you.
Looks like a nice town. Thanks for sharing Rusty
They do that at my Walmart all the time especially with sale items. I just tell them what the advertised price was and they change it.

When you are just driving around ,are you pulling the Casita ?
The Casita is back at Valley of Fires campground

Watching your older drive. Alamogordo looks really cool. A lot of California street names. ❤👍

I load the whole trike in the back of my truck. It does fold. 3-4 hours..yep, hills no problem. Pedal or motor your choice.

It’s a nice town we’ve lived here for twelve years.
Don’t forget the cost of a septic system for the cabin.
In reference to your Llano Texas RV spot, can you sublease that spot.

I've seen people load a trailer full of roasted chile and haul it to their home in Montana. Good stuff.

Here's the problem with not building a cabin: You seem like the kind of guy that needs a project.
