As someone who used to live in T or C back in the late 80's it's cool to see how much it's changed, but soul crushing to see how little water is in the Butte (used to have 3 to 4 times that amount of water in it). Might have to go back one of these days just to revisit it.
We're 2 days into a 14 day stay at Elephant Butte State Park and I've fallen in love with Truth or Consequences and New Mexico in general. I have a friend that's lubed here a few years and I definitely am trying to talk the wife into relocating here once we are done traveling in our skoolie.
Story time.. I lived in New Mexico, up in Socorro County, for about ten years. I used to make the hour drive down to T or C for the hot springs. (Riverbend.. best choice) I sold my property there and rambled around for a few years, before heading back to New Mexico to spend the holidays with family. Ended up staying and working as a ski lift operator at Sandia. My dad had heart surgery, and I left for Nevada to care for my parents while he recovered. Did a bunch of concrete and heavy equipment work while I was there, and made over $25,000, and got a vintage travel trailer in trade for a concrete driveway for my cousin (because I wouldn’t charge labor to family, but when he insisted that I take the 1962 Serro Scotty Sportsman.. how could I say No? Long story short.. Dad was healed, and it was time to push on. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner together, and I told the folks that I would be leaving the next morning. My basic plan was to head to T or C, soak in the springs, and focus on writing a novel. (NOT the one you are currently reading!) I would buy a small parcel, park my trailer, soak daily, and try not to get a job.. just pay myself to write. I never made it.. My first stop was Alkali Hot Spring, near Goldfield. I had planned to soak and stay the night there, but the windy, cold weather made me rethink the camping part, (still had a great soak, and all to myself!) and I decided to head to my next stop, further south, and lower in elevation. I arrived at Bailey’s Hot Springs, just outside of Death Valley, and just north of the small town of Beatty, to find it closed, and appearing destroyed and abandoned. I met the owners that day, (an absolute omen of fate, as they live in Las Vegas, and visited very infrequently.)Their latest caretaker hadn’t worked out, so i was in. I never left. I’m still here almost six years later. It is providing material that threatens to eclipse the fictionalized autobiographical true crime tragicomedy of my first novel, and I have soaked twice a day, everyday.. and it is the best hot spring water of the many I have soaked. Still closed for business, but I have kept myself busy with gardens and animals, repairs and improvements, and the adventure and intrigue that each new place holds.. If you are ever in the neighborhood, feel free to stop by. The water is miraculous, and friends and family are always welcome. p.s.: I’ve arted, too!
What's the jobs and homes for rent situation out there ... I've been strongly considering moving over there . I'm going to go check it out mid September... I'm from marfa TX .. not too far away.. gentrification and Austin TX hipsters have ruined this tiny town

The city got the name Truth or Consequences from a radio show of the same name hosted by Ralph Edwards, who later mentored Bob Barker, who hosted a television version of the show prior to his long association with The Price is Right. They hold an annual Fiesta during the first weekend in May.
When i was stationed in fort bliss I didn’t really have any friends for a while and being from the Midwest I was a big fishermen. Used to go up to elephant Butte every chance I got and climb down right where you were standing and drop a line by the dam. Pretty bad fishing most of the year but if you catch it at the right time you can get some nice striper and white bass. I grew up there as well, right down the road from my house was the city rodeo and my grandpa was actually the caretaker of the place for a year or two.

We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?

guess no one said anything about the devils playground...
…. Dare I ask
Well that may be a thing of the past now a days but as I remember once your on devils playground if an animal crosses your path there are no demons/spirits following you , but if you find a dead animal when you are on the playground EVIL demons/spirits are near...lol I may have that completely wrong but it was something like that, I was 17 but I knew basically the whole town at that time and that demon/spirit shit they were serious...or so I thought lol..glad you came to T or C ! I'll never go back lmao!
Ever wonder why it was Will's last day at the T or C bar? This is one of the true shit holes of NM

God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven.
I remember traveling to New Mexico with my family as a kid. Fond memories

Wow... What a Kool Woman ❤
I spent the winter in t or c . I love that state.
That must’ve been so fun!!
I was on my way to quartzsite, once I got to t or c, there was no reason to go further. I went right to snake island and camped on the point. In the morning the water was up to my tires. I moved up a little but ended up in the campgrounds and dispersed camping. I lived in an RV park for 1 month. That whole state has the nicest people ever. Good video.
