    I've been running the Mossleman thermostat for almost 2 years now...one of the best upgrades for the price you can do.

      What’s the purpose of this Mossleman and benefits for my engine?

    • @chriszachmo
      @chriszachmo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vetodmp2821 It keeps your oil temps lower. I average right around 190 degrees F no matter how hard I drive. With the stock oil thermostat, it was around 230 degrees F.

    Great video, definitely subscribed. If you do this job while doing an oil change, could you eliminate the possibility of spilling the oil?

      Not that I have seen at least, just no way around it

    Firstly, great vid! I assume it's a no (given the very small volume of oil lost) however, do you think topping up oil is essential?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dead on.. very little oil lost. 8)

    Greetings from France! Thanks a lot for this crystal clear video. Dumb question : do we need to do any operation before starting the engine again (such as "priming" it or bleeding the coolant) ? Many thanks in advance, S.

    • @BMWDIYGuy

      Not a dumb question and no, you don't have to take any extra steps like that. Great question!

    would it be a good idea to change the oil while doing this due to loss of oil or does it not matter?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You lose very little so should be ok

    What is the torque specs of the oil thermostat? And the collar too thanks
    And you mentioned it comes with 2 o-rings after watching this I will order Mosselman and gasket 👍🏼👍🏼

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the 3 bolts are 16nm and the long single bolt holding the collar is 8nm.

    What happens if you do spill oil over the belts and surrounding area? Would it cause any damage?
    Asking cause like an idiot I did spill oil.

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It happens so dont beat yourself up too badly about it. The main thing is to get it clean or best you can.. you could always use a gentle cleaner like diluted simple green, on a rag to help wipe down the belts. Get what you can, and I am sure it will be fine.

    What are the torque specs for the bolts?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Front and rear CF strut bar torque values: 28nm
      Bolt holding oil return pipes: 8nm
      Oil‐coolant heat exchanger to oil filter housing: 16nm

    Do you need the install kit gasket and O rings, mine didn’t come with it

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In general you want to replace them while you are there.

    • @exhaustfanatic2417
      @exhaustfanatic2417 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do I need to though? For the mosselman or are they the same gaskets and o rings?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exhaustfanatic2417 yes because the gasket goes on the engine side, and on the pipes, that doesnt change. I would change them myself.
