    In this video we'll go through step by step guide on how to replace valve cover on F80 BMW M3, also applies to F82 M4 of course. The process is very similar to N55 engine found in F30/32 335i/435i as well as other bmws with N55. The big difference on S55 engine is that you have to remove slightly more components
    Thank you for watching

      @@javierjimenez3627Still beats paying BMW $3383 quote for the dealer to work on my car. I bought the parts and paid my seasoned mechanic friend to help me the labor. The Valve Cover alone is $740 on FCP Euro w/ life warranty guarantee replacement. Still way less then paying BMW to work on my M4.

    Great video! Did this job a few weeks ago and would say there’s no need to drain the coolant or remove the charge cooler. Just loosen the clamp on the U pipe, pop up the cooler and put something under it to keep it up.

    • @anthonyvillalpando1694
      @anthonyvillalpando1694 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was it not harder to remove and install the valve cover skipping this step? Is there enough play in the pipes to move it safely?

    • @kriegaufkreuz2120
      @kriegaufkreuz2120 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@anthonyvillalpando1694 Not harder at all. There's loads of slack in the pipes at the front of the cooler. You do however need to pop it out of the U pipe. I replaced the 2 fuel pressure sensors and I did have to remove the cooler for that.

    I finished the repair on Tuesday.
    After the completion, the engine compartment of the vehicle started to smoke. I thought I had messed up and was very frustrated. After inspection, it was found that it was caused by the evaporation of the detergent used to clean the oil stain. At present, everything is normal. Thank you for your previous N55 video. I tried it. Hey excellent video! Recently my PCV went bad and my ‘16 M3 makes that whining noise at idle when warm.
    Took to my local BMW dealer yesterday praying it would be covered under 7/70 or 8/80 emissions warranty but they say no because it’s Virginia, not California or other states that do CA emissions.
    They quoted me $2300 for the job (valve cover replacement). In your opinion how many hours should it take a BMW tech to complete this? They’re saying 8 hours 😮
    Ps- my car is a 3/16 build and 67k miles.

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, depends on skill, i do it in about 2-3 hours. The quote you got is pretty good by California standards, and regarding hours to complete the job usually shops take estimated time lets say 4 hours in this case and double it, and I don’t blame them at all, estimated hours don’t get into account shop’s rent and bills and local laws etc

    • @NuclearShot

      my bmw dealer charged almost $4000, why are the charges wildly different and quoted 12 hr job??

    • @m3pilot19
      @m3pilot19 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NuclearShot because they figure most people won’t challenge them on it. 12hrs to replace a valve cover is absurd. Go somewhere else.

    • @mikemata623
      @mikemata623 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NuclearShot warranty pay time for M3 valve cover is 6.7 If the vehicle is out of warranty, the dealer takes the warranty pay time and multiplies it by whatever labor coefficient is allowed by BMW for that dealer. For my dealer it's around 10.7 hours to replace it if it's out of warranty

    After having a mechanic replace the valve cover on my ‘18 m3 comp I’m getting a ticking noise, pretty loud, that I can hear from the cabin. It’s a constant, even ticking that I can mainly hear at idle and low speeds. The ticking seems to remain about the same speed even when I rev the engine.
    Any idea what could be the issue?Thank you for the help 🙏🙏

  • @AgustinMK

Coils and plugs have been switched around so I've ruled those out. Any advice on next step in troubleshooting?
      The only two ideas however far-fetched they might be, is that there is dirt in the fuel injectors (but both of them...?!?) or that the cable to the coils/ground got damaged.

    Привет, Тим, хороший английский уже у тебя. Есть проблема с моей BMW E92, возможно подскажешь. Когда переезжаю лежачие полицеские передний мост издает такой шум. Но когда длительное время погода сухая - шум исчезает.
    When I run over speed bumps, the front axle makes such a noise. But when the weather is dry for a long time, the noise disappears. What could it be, give me a clue.
