Glen Campbell was one of the most talented entertainers & guitarists in the world. He had a lot of hits such as "By the Time I Get To Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman", "Gentle On My Mind", "Dreams Of The Everyday Housewife", "Galveston", "Try A Little Kindness", "Rhinestone Cowboy", etc. Sadly he got Alzheimer's later in life. The last song he recorded was "I'm Not Gonna Miss You".

Taken from us by a horrible, horrible disease. If you ever get the chance to watch "Ill Be Me" as it documents the last years of his life as Alzheimer's slowly set in. For those of us that have family that suffers from this disease it is truly amazing the strength he had to face it head on and keep performing till he no longer could. I grew up in a small town in SW Arkansas just bout 20 miles from where his family was from and we Arkansans are delighted to call him one of our own. RIP Glen!!!

My beloved mom passed away from complications of Alzheimer's in 2009, a few months after her 89th birthday.
It really is a wretched disease. The ONE thing that helped me cope with her passing was knowing that she wasn't suffering anymore.
When I think of Glen Campbell, or hear one of his songs, I smile at hearing his amazing voice again...then I remember that he was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Just a horrible, horrible disease.

Great voice and a great guitar talent. I think his first single was "By the time I get to Phoenix", followed by "Gentle on my Mind" - both released in 1967. Very popular, though voice and guitar talents under-recognized, through the 60's. Was messed up for a short time in early 70's, got straight and had a couple of good songs released '75-'76 = Southern Nights and Rhinestone Cowboy. Was a member of The Wrecking Crew early music career. self-taught but was amazing on the guitar. There is a video of him playing "Gentle on My Mind" with a guitar break - shouldn't miss that. Also, another video of him playing the theme to The Lone Ranger, keeping up with the orchestra, playing a single neck 12 string guitar, while walking around on stage just as nonchalant as can be, and then finished playing it over his head! Phenomenal display of talent. Sadly, he passed along in Aug. 2017.

Around the same time, a cute little blond hit the scene, by the name of Tanya Tucker, with songs like "What's Your Mamma's Name" and a bit later "San Antonio Stroll"
She had Campbell hooked and he came out with this song. Both were a bit wild then, a couple kids later and things went sideways. But that was the 70's. Great Rock, the Blues were smoking, disco, well, some of the music has withstood time but we aren't going to miss the styles.
I miss my youth because we new how to have fun and weren't glued to gaming consoles

You guys already watched Johnny Cash's "Hurt." If at some point you feel you haven't had enough tears in a day, you can give Glen Campbell's "I'm Not Going To Miss You" a try. I suggest the one from his channel that shows his friends from the Wrecking Crew (th-cam.com/video/yrIW5RpvBnM/w-d-xo.html). Campbell wrote it and performed it, and won a Grammy.
