    Good work. I used to change fluids warm, but then I figured the fluids circulated and drained to the lowest point after when it last ran. In fact I say changing at rest/atmospheric temp is better since the dirty fluid should have fully dripped off the expensive bits. Cheers!

    Hi Ratarossa,
    nice video(s)! I'm an italian guy who follow your channel and i confirm what have been already written by others. "Olio cambio" is "transmission oil", because in italian "cambiare" is the verb equivalent of "to change", but is also equivalent of "to shift". If you need some translation for something else, i'll be very pleased to help you!
    Take care and have a good work!

    great vid! to avoid all that oil spilling when you drain the engine oil you can simply leave the oil charge cap on place and remove it AFTER you have opened the drain cap. So the oil drains out slowly at the beginning.

    My brother has a 1999 355 F1 Berlinetta in Giallo. His manifolds have cracked which seems to be typical (incidentally I swear this only happened after a well know specialist had the engine out for a cambelt....).
    Have you changed your own belt on this? I saw your 360 video (ours was cheap to do at the same specialist) but the 355 is an engine out job.

    the way that sump drain plug was made and its position made it almost inevitable that that would happen. i suppose it could have been done with less mess, but i'm not sure how you could get that plug out of there fast enough to avoid a fair amount of spillage.

    There is no mystery on Ferrari 348/355 annual maintenance. The 5-year, however is a bit trickier. ;) Everyone seems to have different intervals they use depending on annual mileage. Most people I know do it themselves and we have quite a nice group locally that pass on the knowledge or help out. stupid mundane question..I think everyone would prefer to do their own servicing but how do you get on with the service log? If I were ever to buy a performance car (unlikely) I'd want to check the service record. How do you record DIY servicing?

    • @Ratarossa
      @Ratarossa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I keep an A4 binder with all the receipts, take pictures and document what’s been done. Never had a problem, most buyers love to see that

    Looks incredibly tidy underneath that car! Whilst you clearly possess the skills to self maintain this car and likely do so with more care than a tech who’s on the clock, does it not bother you the impact it has on the provenance of the car and therefore it’s value?

    • @Ratarossa
      @Ratarossa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      generally if you keep all the parts receipts and take pictures place them all in a history file with the car thats worth its weight in gold. Yes it will never be the same as a FULL dealer history but then its the difference between a $1k and $10k service

    • @dommorton
      @dommorton 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ratarossa my attitude and approach is similar for most repairs and upgrades, and I very much enjoy doing the work. I still make sure to have annual service work done by a recognised outfit, to bolster the file for the sake of value.
      I’ve fancied a 355 for a long time, but the stories of incredibly high maintenance bills have put me off. Your vids are making the itch return! Is this one a keeper for you?
