I cant believe Bungie did this. Did they not learn anything from what happened with Infinity Ward and Activision? Activision stole a lot of the profits made from IW's games and then fires anyone that complains about having their money taken away. Activision will take whatever game Bungie makes and give it to other companies like Treyarch and have them make terrible sequels or expansions. Bungie should've stuck with Microsoft Game Studious. I know nostalgia is often wrong and misplaced, but I remember these days as a fan. Feeling oddly attached to the studio, knowing the personalities that would show up in these vidocs. I want to embrace the future, but it also makes me sad to see so many of those personalities have moved on.
I wish that could come true, but unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon. 343i's previous management and leadership have already commited the damage to the franchise. They had multiple chances to make up from their mistakes and they blew all of them due to them not recognizing the real problem. In which, they would've came up with a proper solution to making the future halo games better in the long run if it weren't for the forced changes that have no real thought behind them. Halo at this point is dead because of the modern changes that don't coincide with the franchise's formula and they also changed too much of it. It's honestly sad that we don't see companies now and days emulate or be similar to bungie's idiot proof development philosophy as well as it's passionate developers fully committed to what they're involved with in their projects.
@@gran_turismo_fanThe idiot proof development philosophy will make a return. Probably not with AAA games, but something new will eventually rise from the ashes. It just won't be from Bungie anymore.
@@SpiritOfHalloween31 That's true, I hope that things will change for the better soon. I'm just tired of video game franchise's being destroyed from the current modern business model of gaming.
Just watched this again for the first time since it was first released. Love the fact that I now recognise the Destiny music playing in the background :)
Bungie has always been an inspiration of sorts, doing what they do, and specially how they do it. Not taking the easy route, inventing new ideas for gameplay, story-conveying, music, etc. It will be my personal goal to learn the skill set to work at bungie not just because they have made revolutionary games, but because of their methods, dedication and inspiration along with a sense of creativity that I have not felt in any other game studios I have been privileged to visit. Good Luck with Destiny Bungie, and here's to another good decade! (And Pimps at Sea)
Very real. Inspirational for me. Whatever you guys do, I am behind you. And even though I am not quite qualified, I have always wanted to be on your team. Good luck guys! Make us proud!
Yeah they started working on Destiny right after halo 3 in 2007. Halo reach is like a testing ground for Destiny features. The jet pack. Reticle bloom. The healing bubble. They even overhauled the engine and the engine overhaul is what the Destiny Tiger engine is built off of. There’s also Destiny references in Halo 3 ODST and that game came out in 2008.
I'm going to join the army and still play Halo when I'm not on a mission. Halo was the first game I got as a kid and I will continue to play Bungie's games. You guys rock my socks. I love you Bungie.
@RobReignhell I think you're partly right. I got the impression that Bungie never really wanted to continue the Halo Franchise past Halo 3, but were pretty much forced to by Microsoft. It makes sense considering their consequent move to a new publisher, and departure from Halo as a Franchise. 10 years on one story is a long time, and I think the guys at Bungie (as shown in this video) were tired of the boundaries set by what is expected from Halo, and wanted that freedom back.
I'd just like to say to Bungie, although it is almost impossible that anyone who works at Bungie to see this comment, thank you. Although I must admit that I haven't been here for the entirity of Destiny's 3 year journey, Destiny is very special to me. There is nothing quite like it that gives me the same feeling as Destiny and going back and watching all these videos really makes me feel great to be a Destiny fan. People who say 'Bungie is dead' or 'Bungie only care about the money now' can say what they like but I will always know that the people at Bungie still have the same ambition and desire to innovate as they had and conveyed through the original Halo series. Thank you Bungie.
i dont no if anyone else has realised this, but what ive been seeing from early beta clips is that the animation for spartans dieing by a headshot is the same for a chest shot. Just a small thing to note as the halo 3 animation for sniping someone in the face was awesum. vote up so bungie can read this!
You're completely right, and that's a perfect example of what happened at the Globes. People want realism! Hurt Locker was War-based, therefore it won. Avatar was war-based, but it a fictional world. Exactly how MW 2 is based of real life war, while Halo is war-based, but Science-fiction. Infinity Ward invested a lot of time in MW 2, but Bungie is more dedicated. Hour after hour, day after day, they push themselves to their limits to exceed our expectations, as they surpass them every time.
The comment about "Give me money and get out of my way" is the most telling and interesting. I have a bit of faith in Bungie's business sense, so I think that's the kind of deal that they inked with Activision. They still own their intellectual property, Activision just gets to publish it and take on the financial risk. Only a studio like Bungie could make a deal like this.
I almost get the chills thinking about Bungie's next project. They signed with a publisher for the next 10 years. We can only imagine how big this is going to be.
@Generalkidd Wrong, if u ever visit the bungie website, they clearly said that even though Bungie and Activision agreed to partner up for 10 years, they will continue to own their own games, products, and business. And will continue to be the same independent group like they've always been. Thats what they agreed to in the contract.
DONT STOP MAKING GAMESSS !! idc what anyone else says I'll play EACH AND EVERY SINGLE HALO GAME that will come out!! we love you guys at bungie!! good job (:
I didn't expect things to be easy at Bungie. 3 of your games are one of the highest-selling games ever produced, and I bet it's an incredible challenge having the task of topping that Again. But regardless of it's statistical status, Halo: Reach will be the greatest game to ever grace consoles.
I've been a little wary about the new partnership with Activision, but when he said at the end that he told them to stay out of their way when it comes to making games, I felt better about it.
@Waluigi101 actually, it's great marketing. halo's following is because of the simplistic gameplay. anyone can watch halo gameplay and understand what is going on. on the other hand, becoming a great halo player takes a lot of skill, time, and practice.
5:15 THAT is how it should work for every developer who truly is passionate about what they are doing. I'm glad Bungie isn't willing to budge on their principles.
@CheesusTheGreat I think you might have misread my comment. I didn't claim that Microsoft was in control, what I said was that Halo is being "milked" by Microsoft just as people fear that Activision will milk whatever new franchise Bungie will make. And I used "milking" with quotation marks because I tried to point something out to the person I commented to I personally like the deal that Bungie has with Activision, there's already a rumour about Bungie doing Call of Duty games which would ROCK
@xkylegangstax Last Halo game by Bungie. They've partnered with Activision (publishers of CoD and plenty of other series). Microsoft has created 343 Industries to continue on the Halo brand which they own. 343 made Halo Waypoint, for example.
@VZGproductions which is why at the end he said he told the publishers he just wants them to stay out of the way and let them make the game. I doubt Bungie will let any publisher tell them how to do their job. They are the best at what they do, they don't need any orders.
@Bizargh That is very good news, because if Bungie made the mistake of allowing Activision to tell them what to do and how to do it, then Activision wouldn't hesitate to take full control over Bungie, they would milk Bungie's new IP until the end of time if they had such control. Bungie is being very careful this time and I commend them for it.
they definitely have a killer philosophy, something like "10 minutes of fun stretched out over time" or something like that. whatever it is that drives them, they certainly do it right

Remember that this is only a publishing deal, so that it means that Activision will have limited control to begin with. Activision has no actual ownership of Bungie or the new IP they are currently working on, although the contract may have stated a few deadlines and such. I sincerely doubt that Bungie would go into a contract that would sacrifice the quality their users expect from them - especially after being around to see other developers get crushed from those types of deals.
