I’ll need to watch this about 6 more times Hannah. There’s just so much to know. I have so many wonderful glass beaded necklaces but just don’t know what they are. So, the pieces sit and sit. I don’t want them to sit anymore. I tried joining that forum but am waiting on a code. Thank you for all you do!! We need you in jewelry land. lol. Do you do repairs? I’d love a necklace repaired, if you do. And I’d also pay you to identify my glass beads too, if you’d be willing. ?? Thanks Hannah. ❤❤❤
Hi Cheri! Thank you for your sweet comment. Yes, you have asked me before about repairs and help identifying your necklaces. I’m not sure if you didn’t see my replies or maybe they got deleted, but of course I will help you out! Just email me at fleursdemontagne@iCloud.com. Thank you for watching and your sweet comments :)
Oh my god.…..there’s so many types of vintage glass beads. I know you say you’re not an expert, but you sound like an expert to me. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge with all of us that have no clue. This information helps me feel more confident about when I list these type glass bead items to sell. :)
That uranium necklace is soo awesome!! I collect uranium glass and beads, so uranium beads are one of my holy grails. I can't imagine how much that could be worth... I'm also considering making bead-related videos. Do you think videos of going through and disassembling thrifted jewelry/talking about the beads would be interesting?
Thanks so much Zach! I’ve seen a lot of uranium beads go for reasonable prices, especially the clear colored beads- the ones in this video are really unusual and would go for much more. I think that’s a great idea! You should go for it :)
Thank you for posting this and sharing the link and the book. I got several glass beads and would like to know what they are and their period in the history. I will definitely check out the link that you shared.
Hey again from Ohio, you just showed the darker beads with the foil gold Stars & I wanted to tell you Yesterday I was searching for a pair of clip on earrings I'd aquired yesterday to help me price for a listing and I came across a vintage piece which is made of those exact beads ❤ I can't recall if it was 1stDibs or Poshmark and I apologize for that, because it wasn't what I was searching for. But I remember it because the beads caught my eye I thought 🤔 wow that's unique and unique is how I purchase jewelry to add to my personal jewelry collection. my second point is on you mentioning how glass beads chip and are fragile! Yes absolutely they are. And they're made to lay against the skin and not be stored in between wears where they're hanging ( hanging strung beads should never be done) anything threaded or knotted shouldn't be hung it should always be laying on cotton in it's own box and care being used when moving especially a older piece. I've noticed the care you use when handling your beads 😊 if it's knotted pearls or knotted milk glass never hang them. Over time it can cause damage to the piece. Lol I stopped buying jewelry boxes at 5 I now use tool box compartment trays got them at Lowe's and they've been so helpful each tray locks to the one above it and so on. And all stack in my bedroom and because of the locking feature they don't tip over. If not for jewelry pieces I thought you might like them for your beads 😊 they're black with a clear lid and orange side locks.
Thank you Stacey! Oh I would love them but I’m sure the price would reflect how beautiful they are! I would have to save up for those unless I just got lucky. Great tip on the locking storage boxes, I’m definitely running out of room storage wise for my loose beads/jewelry making items and that would be very useful. Thanks for watching :)
As often happens with me, and is no reflection on you at all, I now know less than I thought I did. Thank you. I've seen you in chat. I'll look at your last vid when I can.

4:00 the reason they chip they used lava in the glass, the grey you see present in the glass
Wait real lava? Oh wow I want to look more into this! Ty!
@@HannahsHeirlooms Yes ma’am real lava, the Czech’s copied by burning the foil.
Please do more videos on beads…. Well done

Your pink beads are Czech they contain no lava ❤ the darkening is the delicate foil burning it mimicked the Venetian

Your “frit” beads are called confetti beads. Just like lava beads & wedding cake beads they’re named for what they obviously resemble.
Sure that’s another name for them! I think as glass makers the “frit” refers to tiny pieces of glass but to a non glassmaker we wouldn’t know that and so other names get used more often when referring to these beads. Thanks for watching!
The clasp on the red “ Czech “ is French, one reason you can’t identify by clasp 😬😂
Ah no wonder I could not figure it out! I so appreciate your knowledge :)
