Paperweights are a big seller. At the age of 6 my family spent most of the Summer of 1970 driving throughout Europe including Venice & to the island of Murano to the glass factory. My parents bought me a few things along the way. When we were on Murano, I picked out a glass paperweight which is clear glass with a multitude of what looks like colored flowers set in the glass. The “flowers” resemble what you referred too as buttons and beads. I still have it today more than 51 years later.

I used to have my Murano up for sale, but decided to just collect it because I value the pieces way more than I could get for them. Like you said, value is just going to go up, and if not, it's because of ignorance and a lack of people with a good eye. I've done 2 videos showing my colletion and need to get producing my third video.

This may be the end for Murano. I read an article that said most of the glassmakers are having to close down because of the high cost of gas to fuel the furnaces. They have to be kept burning 24/7, and consume enormous amounts.

I still don't know if I have a piece of Murano Glass. I guess I'm missing something not understanding or something. Ok, I just followed the web site you posted and yes I have a very popular piece of Murano Glass it's a swan candy dish. Well some are saying candy dish. There's a lot of them a lot of different colors but I did not see one with the color that I have. I have two of them. My mother just passed away left each one of us storage unit and I'm finding a lot of stuff and I don't know what to do with. But thank you for your talk on this glass. I need to figure out a price now there were a lot of different prices. Thank you

This is a great video! I learned so much about Murano glass from you. The glassmakers there put on “shows” for tourists back in 1980. (Maybe they still do.) My family was on a bus tour of Europe, and we went to one of these. It was fascinating! I was young, so I didn’t buy anything, but I would have if I could. One man worked on a piece of glass while another one explained, in English, what he was doing. It was interesting and humorous, and it was one of the highlights of the trip for me. We saw many examples of their work. All of it was absolutely beautiful. I liked the vases, chandeliers and mirrors best, and still do. Maybe I’ll buy a piece or two now. I have a new appreciation for it, thanks to you!
