My grandmother made quince candy. She put walnuts in it and rolled each piece in powdered sugar. Oh how we loved it!
Oooh, rolling them in walnuts sounds great! Thank you so much for sharing 💛 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHome I think she ground the quince and nuts all up first then rolled it in powdered sugar. Im pleased I had something to share, you're so knowledgeable.
Can achieve this by reducing and freezing the jelly in molds@@redwoodsorel5173
@@redwoodsorel5173she outer the quince first? When she added the walnut? Thank you for sharing
@kakugugu6855 the Quince was cooked in a pressure cooker with sugar and when it had cooked down enough, then the walnut added it was then poured into a tray and when cool, cut and rolled in powder sugar
Great recipes, thanks for sharing. I always make quince paste for my husband this time of the year, he absolutely loves it with cheese. I recently tried a Persian version with a small amouny of cardamom and rose water...it was such a treat on toast🥰
That sounds delicious! Thank you so much for sharing and for your nice comment 💛 ~ Anja
Rose water! That sounds really lovely.
I happened to find 4 quince in the mark-down section of my grocery store. They usually put bundles of nearly expired fruit/veg in these red net bags and sell it for a (US) $1.00 per bag. I grabbed them not even knowing what it was, or what I could do with it. Your video was the first I came across, and I am so pleased that I did. I love the ratio guidance, that will help me tons.
Glad it was helpful!
Yummy! I love the paste. Although i prefer quince jam to quince jelly.
Hello Anja, I prepared the quinces according to your old-fashioned recipe. The jelly was NOT TOO SWEET but rather soft and flavorful to eat 👌 In this way, our family and friends they all love it ! 🤪 Thanks for sharing this recipe 🙌
Wonderful! That makes me so happy to hear 💛 ~ Anja
Vielen Dank für die vielen schönen Video, liebe Anja. Ich fand Deinen Kanal vor ein paar Tagen und mir gefallen Deine Inhalte sehr. Liebe Grüße aus Bayern. 🥰

Excellent video, thank you!
You are welcome!
I am trying this recipe for the first time and am so excited! Thank you so much for showing us step by step. Is this recipe safe for water bath canning?
Great, and yes to water bath canning 👍
@@OurGabledHomeThank you so much!
@ thank you! It turned out great! 👍🏼
Hi Anja, can I replace the citric acid with something else if I don't have it handy? Thanks!
Hi! Citric acid is only optional - I like to add it because it preserves the beautiful red color, the taste, and the freshness of this yellow fruit😊 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHomehow much will you add as a ratio?
Hi Anja....I don't think I've ever seen fresh raw quince anyplace here in Ontario Canada. Do they grow on trees like apples? The do LOOK a lot like apples.
Yes, they look a lot like apples and grow on trees. Not super popular, I bet you can still find them in Canada 😊 ~ Anja
i’m in canada too! left coast! ask in a local garden group for your area. or try a search on fb marketplace. its worth finding!!
There's a Chinese variety that grows in cold weather.
I live in buffalo and have Chinese Quince.
I’ve never tasted quince. Can you describe that taste for me? Does it taste like apples?
It taste a little bit like apple, pear, and rose with a delicate flavor 😊 ~ Anja
