I've seen DOs get into fellowship. Very dependent on where you do residency I imagine. In regards to getting into a specific program, would look at their last 3-4 classes and you'll get a quick idea.
Could you kindly do a video on how residency in internal medicine is. I a medical resident in Germany and here there is rarely any teaching. I was a resident in anesthesia and there the attending humiliate us and gossip about how stupid we are and if we ask something we are sent to the redo medical school. It would be really interesting to know how it is in the states. For this very reason I am looking into continuing elsewhere because in medical school we have no practice, therefore we lack the experience when we leave.
