Rare Mopar Truck Sold New with Winchester 30-30 ? 1984 Dodge Ram 150 Royal SE Marksman Junkyard Find

- So this first time I saw this in the yard I made a quick video not knowing what it really was. I knew that Dodge had it's special trucks like the prospector but just found out about this one year only 1984 Marksman. Supposedly there were only about 1800 of them made and they came with a gun rack as well as a Winchester .30-30. That's the first time I've heard of this type of promotion. That's actually pretty darn cool. I can't imagine many of these left and here this one sits awaiting its turn in the crusher. A real shame too as it was a super solid truck with no rust that I could see and only a mildly rough interior. Under the hood was the 318 small block Mopar. I did lunck out and scored an Edelbrock performer 318/360 intake manifold that was in good shape. part number on it was 2176 if not mistaken. While I'm not really into the first gen Ram trucks, I would definitely drive this one. And another thing, I really like the steel slot looking wheels on these trucks. They remind of aluminum slots like Ansen Mags.

Star Dodge is still in business at 5101 S 1st St, Abilene, TX 79605. Yes, there were often regional promotional vehicles for different areas of the country to boost sales and for certain dealer areas. They all did it.
Today I had a legit reason why, "You need the tag to brag". I was inspecting some new F-550 chassis and I noticed that the trucks that were shipped by the vendor do not meet spec. How? The tag should say 19,500# GVWR as I have spec'd. Nope, they ready 18k GVWR. Why? Because someone on the vendor side forgot to order the Ford code "68M" Payload Plus upgrade package which upgrades the GVWR from 18k to the maximum of 19.5k for an F-550. Someone may have resupply twelve new trucks. Yikes. Someone asked, "How do you know they are wrong?" Simple, "Get the tag and you can brag."
We got the VIN, we win: 1B7 for US made Dodge Truck, F for 4,001 to 5,000 # Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, D for 2WD conventional cab, 1 for 1/2 ton rated, 4 for standard cab, T for 318 V8 with two barrel, 8 is a check digit, E for the 1984 model year, S for Warren Truck, Warren WI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Warren Truck facility aka "Dodge City" opened in 1938 and still operates today. MDH means Month-Day-Hour and this truck was assembled on Monday, January 23, 1984 at about 10 AM. Should be code VW3 Pearl White exterior paint.
Whoa Nelley, Saturday Night Special and it "got a barrel that's blue and cold. Ain't good for nothin' 'xcept putting a man six feet in a hole". 1984 and out the door. 3-1-8 used to be great. 30-30 and gotta go. Take it out back, ole Yeller, and you're a gonner young feller. Marksman may have a fan, but it's ready for the trash can. A727 and going to Heaven. Going to be flat and that's that. 30-30 shot on the chopping block. Winchester turned into the court jester. Going to get squished, and the MOPAR faithful are the only ones who are likely going to be pissed.

@@garymckee63 LOL, it was a long week out in Springfield/Columbus, OH on a work trip. Lots to do, then dinner, some swimming in the pool to relax and then off to bed to start it all over again and get on a plane to head home. It was cold in OH.

The 93 Roadmaster l has was far superior and l can't figure it out because basically the same vehicle but the Chevrolet build quality is not as good.

I miss my '77 Dodge Adventurer pick-up. I can't believe this one was junked. It's in a million times better condition than mine was.

This is around the time of the Warlock package and the infamous Lil' Red Truck(at the time , I believe the fastest American product on the road).
The body looks solid and the Marksman package definitely makes her special...

1st Gen Ram in junkyard say it so probably was nice pickup truck back in 80s never heard of Marksman edition know Warlock, Adventure, Power Wagon & Club Cab .
Yes, it was a limited edition with a gun rack and a Winchester 30-30 rifle as Benny stated.

I bought an 84 one white in color that was former state vehicle because my Buick fell apart in Florida and I traded it in on an 88 Grand Prix and the truck lasted longer than the Pontiac.
And it was a short bed but it had the leaning tower of power 😽
I had a 84 swb Marksman, sold it 4 years ago. I still have the 30-30. My son ragged it out pretty bad. Sold for 800.00.
I had a red and silver 2tone 89 Dodge W150 Power Ram with 360 and Holley TBI from factory. Was a Hoss of a Truck. Had the Western style wheels on it.
