Hi guys! Publix customer service staff here! The amount of people that spend money on full books of lotto tickets is crazy. A $50 book is $1500 and a lot more people buy them than you would think. From my experience of selling and cashing in the tickets, I think your odds are higher buying separate tickets than a whole book. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone make the same or more from buying a whole book. Also, just a fun fact you can’t win less than the ticket value so you can’t win less than $3 on a $3 ticket :)
I was just going to say that about the 3 bucks. It’s either a loser or what you paid for individual ticket price or up

Did you check to see if the jackpot for your particular scratch game has hit? When I lived in Massachusetts you could check that info on the lottery website. They still sell tickets after the jackpot hits to give the smaller amounts out but I would want to at least know I am trying for the jackpot.
They don’t tell you in Michigan.
Yeah they tell you how much are left of each ticket in Florida. At least cashed in. They don’t know if it’s been sold though obviously

Having worked in a bookies and watching people flushing their lives down the toilet every day, it was a soul destroying job.

In Texas, you can check the different scratch off games online to see what has already paid out. I'd recommend doing that if possible. Your odds and expected payout change as prizes are claimed.

As a Publix associate in customer service (where lotto is bought) I can attest that people spend crazy amounts of money in Lotto in a daily basis… I once had a customer come in with a shoe box filled with winner tickets ( all high $ amount) he ended up getting about 8-9000 and he bought about $7000 in ticket books since we could only pay him around $2000 in cash. .. so YES people do spend crazy amounts in lotto!!

I have bought a whole book of $20 tickets before. I spent $400 bc that’s how many are in a book in my state and I think I got lucky bc I won $660 in total ($500 on one ticket though). I agree with Tim, it’s a fun experience but it’s certainly not worth the money I spent and the time spent scratching 😂
Actually you don't have to even scratch them. They just scan the bar code and it will tell you if you win.

Loved you kept the stream rolling as Jackson’s was climbing on Tim. It lets me have the joy of seeing again what my son used to to do to us. Sadly we didn’t get much videos of him. Now he is 6’6 don’t want to reenact that time!! lol Interesting to learn about the tickets. If I were you I would take the same 300.00 but buy a split amount of different price of ticket. 😊 see what happens.

I wonder if you would have better luck going with higher tickets - like the $5 ones or even $10. The payouts might be higher - just my opinion
Ask the person at the kiosk what tickets are new. New to the market tickets (seasonal/game) pay out at a better rate then other established brands as they are new and word of mouth sells. Buy whatever they have and then go to other stores. Those books are often bought to give out as a promotion in mailers to clients (1per envelope). Best of Luck!
My daughter works at a place that sells lottery tickets. She has told me of a man who spent over $10,000 on Powerball tickets when the jackpot was over a billion, and of a couple that comes in every couple of months who buys a sealed book of $20 scratchers. Apparently 400 or 500 spent in a transaction is a near daily occurrence.
Sad. People get caught up in a fantasy of "winning big." Gambling addiction is no joke. Chasing that adrenaline rush and fantasy.
I love the lottery. If you were to do it again don’t buy a book. Buy multiple of each ticket. Also buying tickets that cost more are better odds than tickets that cost less!

Since I'm in Massachusetts I'm used to scratch tickets being voided if you scratch the bar code, because retailers won't accept them here if that's revealed, so I got real nervous about that.
Usually the more expensive the ticket the odds of winning get better. It shows it on back of tickett or on the lottery app. Also get newest tickets as you have more chances of winning as more prizes available.
I was watching this last night and right when you were going to say how much you won it stopped working and went private … what a cliff hanger. Haha. I will finish now.

Ok, I need to find one of those cord organizers so we can all the cords in one place when we travel. Playing the lottery it is just a game of chance. My sister in law several years ago was playing a scratch ticket, and she won $100,000 dollars! So I know that there are winners, and she just bought one ticket as she was driving home from work! I know I screamed when she told me,😊 I was so happy for my sister in law and brother in law. So if you guys can budget it again, go for it, but know you may come out ahead or you may not. Love your channel

I like the $5 or $10 ticket idea. My completely unscientific/unmathematical guess is that I feel like the odds are better to win some money with those denominations. Good luck with whichever you choose!

I know that Hugh Jackman handed out scratcher tickets to the cast and crews of one of his movies as a nice gesture on the first day of filming. So maybe the point of buying the whole book is to give the tickets as gifts. But I understand it could be fun to scratch everything in one sitting 😊
Better stick to the One Dollar cards when you go shopping and if you win, put it in a piggy bank. I think you'll 'win' more that way(it will take much longer of course) plus you'll teach Jackson and Oliver how to start saving money too.... But Jacksons reaction to the book of cards was totally worth it :-) You had a fun time together, but it's not worth losing that much money every time... there are cheaper ways to have fun together as a family ;-) BUT I must say, it was cool to see that it was pretty much accurate to the odds they give you. I just always assumed they just put a random number on there LOL
