I have really tried, but can someone explain the appeal of this kind of Metal. I just don't get it. I really don't. I love Slayer, Testament, Exodus etc. but I just don't get this.
The appeal for me is the reputation of hate and anger in the lyrics, I feel like on some of my darkest days I can relate to it, and the brutality of the musician's. I mean, the guitars can be argued as being basic or whatever, but I enjoy it.

I can't really explain why I like it. The first kind of music I heard was punk rock and heavy metal and then I stumbled across a band called Amon Amarth who primarily have growling vocals and then I just gradually got heavier and now I love unclean vocals/this type of music. Admittedly it's not for everyone but if you work your way up so to speak, you will probably like it
