For anyone new to For Honor reading this comment, the game is what you make it, some people find joy in small victories like watching their plan or prediction work out how they wanted it to, pulling off crazy moves, or just bulldozing a Dominion match (Cus let's be real, no one plays tribute or Elim.) The thing that makes this game so irritating, is being a player who has played it for so long. The higher level are the ones that deal more with highly volatile, sweaty players. That's why I miss being low level, it was simpler, everyone was learning and just genuinely having a good time. So I say to new players, don't be in such a hurry to learn the game, because learning the game is literally the best part of For Honor (despite it's learning curve looking like a jumbled mess.) It's not the getting gud part that counts, it's the fun you have with your friends or with the other low tier players you play against as you try new things and attempt to maybe beat out that meta gameplay with something unconventional. I can't really enjoy For Honor like I used to, but I'd be lying if I said those moment I outplay a braindead sweaty boi are the moments that trigger a dopamine overload.

In all honesty (my feelings and opinion only), I uninstalled for honor recently. I kind of wanted to play the game casually, but there's too much work to be put into this game. I never understood it, but in the video where you have mentioned the "read based" gameplay being way more significant now might be the reason. I joined around marching fire, and was able to handle myself okay most of the time. I play other fps games, and have decent enough reaction time. However, now it requires me to know every hero's move-set so clearly that it became a lot of work. Such case would be Gryphon, where I need to remember and remind myself about whether that attack chains into an attack again, or can he immediately go to a kick. Then I have to guess whether he would faint, or will he continue, or just hit me with the light undodgable. Maybe this is fun for other players... but it's just frustrating to me. It is a shame, I really did enjoy the game when I first started, and wanted to continue. Hecc, it was my 2nd most played game of Ubi aside from Rainbow six. I understand where you are coming from and I think that fighting games might just not be the genre for you. That's perfectly fine and you should play what you enjoy!
I’m in the same boat as you. I reinstalled about a week ago and was wondering why the game felt completely different then before. I had uninstalled and taken breaks before but because of my several hours on it my muscle memory allowed me to keep my skills. I’d just have to get used to the new hero for a little and I’d be good as new. However last week when I booted up the game I was missing all of my parries and could barely even block on reaction. After seeing this video my suspicions were confirmed and I was pretty sad about it. Having to know all of the insane number of characters move sets just seems like a little bit too much work and even though light attacks don’t hit hard I can barely react to them anymore. I doubt I’ll ever truly get back into the game. It’s a shame since I actually really loved this game back in 2017-2018 and have about 2000 hours on it.

I liked Year 1 For Honor when it was simple to pick up but hard to master, now they've just made it like every other fighting game ever where you have to know every frame of every attack of every character to even stand a chance online
Honestly I’ve just been playing everyone lately and adapting and it’s a lot more fun. I troll the trolls and decide whether or not I’m in the honorable mood. Game is just more fun that way. Sometimes I just run up to a ledge and let them ledge me, sometimes I ledge them. People act like I have no life because I do that but it’s just hilarious to me. The idea of a great warrior just jumping off a cliff in front of his opponent
Tbh I've given up on this game, it was great fun a lil while back but I'm just not feeling it... I tried it again recently and it's just become worse wich is a real shame and I'm honestly happy for people that still play and have fun with it, great video man keep it up
If you change your mind (Don't. You're better without it) remember to only ever pick the very best heroes. (which is, like, five heroes). The handicap of playing a sub-par hero is nuts in this game so if you're not playing with the best heroes your skill doesn't matter as much and you'll be bullied by the game and its flaws.
@@DragoonCenten it’s not a lie, unless you are among the ape gryphon players that need a busted hero to perform, you can play almost any hero (expect the few worse) and perform well consistently. Dude more than half of the cast is considered S or A tier without counting the newly reworked fighters
@@theofilleul6866 You're talking out of your ass, this game has been a tug of war of balance since day one. If it is so perfectly balanced then you wouldn't have had the need to call any characters busted. Look me in they eye and tell me this game ain't a joke, I play Shugoki and can't stand up to and Lawbringers or the one female knight with the edgy armor that I forgot the name of, it's just a matter of who has the biggest move list and who has the scummiest shenanigans within said move list. There are gladiators that will repeatedly poke you in the foot, Orochis that will shit out unreactable lights, Shaolins that render heavies unable to act because you literally cannot connect with anything, Nobushi's that hit you with bleed from across the map until your health bar disappears, Lawbringers that have the move list burned into their mind and find every opportunity to ignore your defense because they have over 9000 options, I can go on but we'll be here all night. This game never was and never will never be something to take seriously, but if they keep their current pattern of releasing a character that makes all the ones before it irrelevant so they can sell season passes then this polished turd will stay in the toilet it was born in.
Hey man gotta say thanks this made me get back into For Honor after years of not playing and im loving it. Update This has now gotten me and 3 friends back into this game.
This is definitely better for fresh players, but I think the thing most returning players struggle with is new characters and their move sets. Like I want to get back into the game, but since the only viable gamemodes are 1v1, 2v2, and dominion due to the others being dead or incredibly long queue times without a full group, it's really hard to fight full teams of new characters I know nothing about so I end up just leaving the game again. Doing this ultimately restarts the cycle too.

I find it so funny that my boys quit for honor a while ago and have made fun of me, are coming back now asking me to teach them how the play. They said For Honor would live for a while and I’m so happy it’s still here, going strong.
Greetings from under a rock, because I've never heard about For Honor. I've stumbled on this video by chance, and now I'm hooked. I'll definitely try it out. Thanks for the video, man.
well thats easy... just skill till max lol... if you want an actual serious pure guide go to varrock sewers and kill the rats till like level 40 in your desired skill and then from there you can kill some random stuff till you can efficiently kill moss giants with ease do that till you can kill the red spiders.. I kinda cheated an used pots to kill mos giants sooner by using boosts to get faster xp sooner.. then I did the same thing with red spiders I popped pots and killed them way before I was supposed to be able to.. giving me a level almost every 3 or 4 kills.. eventually I didnt need pots anymore and I just kept killing spiders till I reached like 80+ in whatever stat I was training at the time. I encourage skilling before you go do any combat training. Its always a better idea to get your fishing and cooking somewhat high so you can always get your own food until you become rich where gold is not problem and time is.. I also recommend getting your rune crafting up cause it makes pretty good gp an hour at high levels if you arent willing to train other skills like dungeoneering and slayer for the best profits. Cause pvm is where the real gold is and bossing. I pretty much killed blue dragons and sold their bones and hide till I had enough gold for a full set of pernix.. cause I went range pure till late game then I trainned stuff like strength and attack. I was going to stay a pure range build but realized quickly that you can only make pure builds in ors the evolution of combat changes and the updates to the game made pure builds not really worth it anymore unless your in ors. I prefer evolution of combat cause you actually get abilities.. so I dont play ORS. But I assume your entire comment was a joke and you know all this already but since I was bored I gave you benefit of the doubt and gave you some tips. Best thing you could ever do is make a movie marathon day and watch movies while you power level fishing... you will hit 99 in no time..

People who complain about jorm, didn't like the fact his hammer slam move brought us back to 50/50. And tbh he's just been shitted on since his release. Nerf after nerf, yet people still complain about his mechanic.
@@rjbandit7712 Hes started streaming more for one, and he shows not all but a good a few of his deaths in 1vX situations. I recently just got into For Honor because my best friend and brother play it. I always liked watching them and I'm just a overall sucker for Medieval themed games, movies etc. I really like the game and have a lot of fun playing it.
This was a big help, the tutorials don't explain crap. I basically came here because so much is left unexplained. For example, they don't mention that revenge is only built in 2 on 1, nor do they tell you what it actually does after activation. They don't explain bash attacks, nor do they explain that blue attacks are undogeable or orange unblockable. They also don't explain how to deflect as an assassin or what actions drain stamina. They don't explain that you get knocked down when low on stamina, nor do they mention that you can double tap a to roll.
“Most of you probably make reads without even realising it” This should be said to anyone who’s frustrated at the game. Because they are better than they think and their effort should be acknowledged before they quit the game thinking read-based combat is unfair or not for them.
It'd be better if the game wasn't just Rock Paper Scissors, it's like Street Fighter 5 with swords and a patch that nukes the player count every few months.
I had to stop 1:25 in to make sure that my login music wasn't accidentally left on. Was so confused for a moment lol. Also sounds like the exact video I was looking for so thanks for that too.

I remember quitting because of the ridiculous amount of BS that can happen in a match, cheesy heroes, toxicity, changes to the build system into a more boring one, and ridiculous q times for any game mode besides Dominion and the fort invasion.
I've encountered a lot of read deniers in this game, which is absolutely insane lol it exists in other fighting games, why would it not exist in this one💀
One thing about Breach, it is better to boost the ram when all of the archer points captured otherwise if you push it too far all of your pikeman waves will be shot before they reach ram so it stops (i believe they didn't touch archer's damage that way soldiers die even faster after hp nerf). If you try to boost it without pikeman you have to deal with enemy waves while under archer's fire. So you forced to go heal sometimes and the ram is just standing and taking damage.
Ive been playing fh since beta on ps4, after ccu im playing less, fh becomes a mess cause lights are totally unreactable ,ccu helps pc only, even if you try read lights you end up losing a lot more than before ccu, dodging helps only a bit, cause you can chain lights at different timings ,delayed lights or wait and do neutral light and start a new chain, some lights chains can catch dodges and input lag dont help, increasing light spam advantage and smart players change the indicator direction in an unpredictable way increase light spam as well, so after ccu on ps4 the meta shift to: lights spam making them unpredictable at high level..., so is basicaly a luck match now, if I win I dont feel stronger or smarter than my opponent, I feel lucky mostly, no satisfaction, just button mashing, I think the devs wanted to make users with bad reaction times win more against more skilled players so new players are stimulated to buy or continue to play fh,considering the majority of players have bad reaction times, so they have flattened the skill level , before ccu on ps4 was like what is now on pc : barely reactable lights(parry as soon as you see the red indicator reacting to all 3 guards! A distant memory for ps4 players!) and if you know your opponent is waiting for a light to parry you can read that and let go a heavy instead or feint a heavy into something like a bash or a light or using softfeints , READS to counter the staring matches ! on ps4 the turtle meta was a low level player problem, not in high level cause you had options to counter it! Now is only horrible lights spam in low and high level (90 % of my hp loss are caused by lights), I think devs prefer pc fh and they dont give a damn of ps4 30fps players...when I see fh gameplays on yt I watch them for fun not for learning anymore, cause mostly are pc players... and I know I cant anymore do what I see on yt cause they still can react to lights on pc, I cant anymore on ps4 even with godlike reaction times, I can only make reads against easily predictable noobs, and if I find a smart player the luck match start... the solution is different balance to make pc and ps4 very similar :pc with ccu solving turtle meta, ps4 without ccu (mostly removing 100ms hidden indicator)solving input lag and 30fps problem, but this will never happen...
The devs dont give a shit about outdated systems like ps4. They said they were gonna optimize the game based on the newer systems which run on 60fps like ps5. Its fucking stupid to balance a game based on outdated systems when newer systems were coming out a few months later after that announcement. So, the devs balanced the game to suit pc, ps5 and xbox X. If you want to get better experience, just dont use outdated systems.
@@lordpat9794 every platform must have its own balance because whoever bought it on ps4 paid as much as on pc, and I don't expect 60 fps because ubi will always prefer graphics to fps, but I expect a balance and it can be done even at 30 fps: removing 100ms hidden indicator mostly, every other ps4 game is balanced, why doesn't fh have to be? if i have to buy a better system to play then it's a sneaky trading move, ubisoft is oudated
How? Dont. Theres no playerbase so match making is non existent. You as a noob will be fighting rep 500 people. Doesnt matter how outskilled you are because its just struggling to find enough people for a match. Many times Ive had nostalgia rise up and make me miss this game that I use to love and Ill get back on and get absolutely WRECKED by people so far outv my league it aint even funny. I try to give the game benefit of the doubt and say "Ive been gone for a long while, I suck now and game hasnt caught on yet to my new skill level." But I will struggle and lose over and over again dozens of matches for DAYS and match making never figures it out because it does not care. You can see it when you start searching for a match, it starts off with a strict search criteria that quickly turns into litterally just take anyone. The only people still playing the game are the die hard fans who are 100x better than you and thats who the game puts you against. I loved this game. But after Bullshit heroes like Cent and Jormun and Gladiators just toe spamming taking all of my fun and sanity and even the balanced heroes destroying me because of absurd skill gap the game just isnt fun.

im coming to this vid after coming back to For Honor and this covers everything. as of this comment, the testing grounds he mentioned for option selects has 3 more days of testing. and an important note that i have learned is this: You will get frustrated at the game. just learn that this is a game and we are here to have fun. the more you play, the better you will naturally get. I had no clue how to parry when i started but now it just comes naturally. I suggest picking up Warden or Conqeror as your first as Warden is really versatile and fits all role/situations well while Conq is just turtle god gone super sain. Warden you learn the basics and conq you can stay alive long enough to know the game modes/community/whatever else better.

How to For Honor in 2021: "Play something else until new hero is released then drop it again"
@Pierinhood74 you ain't wrong, after hopping back on warframe after so many years I realize that I could have something even playing alone "fun"
What is rank and where do I find it
No guide for 2022 and we'll see if this year gets one or not.

You got ps4
This is definitely better for fresh players, but I think the thing most returning players struggle with is new characters and their move sets. Like I want to get back into the game, but since the only viable gamemodes are 1v1, 2v2, and dominion due to the others being dead or incredibly long queue times without a full group, it's really hard to fight full teams of new characters I know nothing about so I end up just leaving the game again. Doing this ultimately restarts the cycle too.
The rock paper scissors analogy for option selects is amazing. Stealing that, thanks.
Thanks for this bro! I just got into For Honor the other day & I’m loving it. This video was a big help, nice editing too btw! Funny & easy to follow.
Guess Who’s back back back. Back again. Marcos back back back. Tell a friend.
Your editing is always hilarious, man. Also you can tell he wasn't lying about Tribute: Had to do a VS. AI match to even get in a game of it.
And when, if, you do get into one with players, your team sucks and the other team are nothing but rep 1250s. (True personal experience)

It's a old game. Couple months of gameplay and you'll be up there. My cuz has 3x as many reps as me and is the one that got me playing and I am much better than him.
Yea honestly I took like a year break from the game at one point and list every ounce of knowledge after a few months and doing the training sessions (the old ones) I got back into it after like 5 weeks

I've stumbled on this video by chance, and now I'm hooked. I'll definitely try it out. Thanks for the video, man.
How 2 RuneScape next pls 😂
well thats easy... just skill till max lol... if you want an actual serious pure guide go to varrock sewers and kill the rats till like level 40 in your desired skill and then from there you can kill some random stuff till you can efficiently kill moss giants with ease do that till you can kill the red spiders..

How to be friends with the enemy team: slowly approach the player while emote spamming.
Its an Unwritten rule man. If your Emote Spamming on a point then its a hangout spot not an objective.
Or just walk around the map. Most enemy players will walk alongside you
This was a big help, the tutorials don't explain crap.

I remember quitting because of the ridiculous amount of BS that can happen in a match, cheesy heroes, toxicity, changes to the build system into a more boring one, and ridiculous q times for any game mode besides Dominion and the fort invasion.
I love how everything is just so fluently connected.
It’s like a algebra problem it’s just a mess of do’s donts that flip flop with each character
I'm honestly shocked that there are players, even veteran players, that still don't know or deny the existence of options selects and reads
For some reason, I was able to play a game of tribute with actual people

Holy shit, dude that music is such a blast from the past, that Age of Empires soundtrack hit me like a god damn truck
How?
Start to finish, beautifully informative!
I do feel bad for anyone you convince to buy the game though lol

Warden you learn the basics and conq you can stay alive long enough to know the game modes/community/whatever else better.
