    @avril14thlove 3 ปีที่แล้ว +275

    Ok, I live in SF and here’s what I have to say:
    1. The girl in Outer Sunset is getting an amazing deal. It would be very rare and difficult to find a studio that’s essentially its own home with a full backyard. She’s probably also got rent control. $1800 is insanely cheap for all that space.
    2. The guy in Outer Richmond is paying roughly average prices. While rent has gone down substantially since covid hit, what he has is still somewhat reasonable for four bedrooms and three full bathrooms with a view.
    3. The girl in Glen Park is paying way too much. A one bedroom in Glen Park shouldn’t cost more than $2500 max. She does have a lot of space but Glen Park is considered a really far out neighborhood that most people rarely travel to.
    Overall this was a decent representation of the city but I’m really bummed that nobody living downtown or in the “city proper” was featured. So much of SF’s vibes live in the Eastern part of the city and all of these apartments were featured on the West side of the city.

      I have lived in SF,CA for 37 years and I agree with you - I'd love to hear specifically what jobs and incomes these people have! We don't all work in tech or video games making multi-six figures! If they showed teachers' places (even though teachers here probably make more than in St Louis) you'd see crowded, older, somewhat run down flats with multiple people living in them in less-than-ideal neighborhoods or rent controlled for many years. I had an old rent-controlled flat myself on Castro St up until 2 building burned down 2 years ago and I lost pretty much everything. I work in social services, not paid badly, but not well enough to afford living $3000+ per person per month for rent + utilities!
