I have this Rotary as well as the Shinemate Rotary. Love both tools. I used the Shinemate backing plate on the Milwaukee as its a 5 inch/6inch combo all in one. I use the 6.0XC batteries and I have a belt clip mount for the battery that has a short cable (its long enough) that goes from my waist adapter and battery to the machine with a adapter about the size of the 3.0 battery. it removes a TON of the weight and allows me to utilize larger and more powerful batteries keeping them away from the pain. Both do a great job with cutting or polishing. I already have the 21 and 15 DA's as well. great tool.

thats really interesting on the battery adapter, ill look into that.
I thought about grabbing the 21mm as well just to have all 3

Great video. I actually purchased the Milwaukee but returned it. Right after I got it DIY announced their corded ones last year so I returned it since I hadn’t opened it. Cordless tools sure are nice even if they aren’t perfect. I do really like the DIY Detail Rotary one. Thanks for the review! Very interested in the DIY cord free models!! Have a good one!

I have this Milwaukee and the corded Flex PE-14.
The Flex is a lot more enjoyable to use. Smoother, quieter, lighter.
The Milwaukee motor has that high pitch squeal that’s really hard to work with. You always need ear protection with it. It’s nice that it has no cord though.

i was running it at low speed and didnt mind the noise, it would definitely be loud at high speed.

Thanks for the in depth explanation on the Milwaukee rotary. How is the cordless DA?

I love the DA, great power, works really well, the rupes may be a little smoother with their pads but overall i think the milwaukee is a really solid choice, especially for someone who is in the ecosystem already.

I know you’re still learning and getting the hang of doing paint corrections but you’d really want to work a smaller area or section. I’m sure you searched online already for good instruction but I could share some links that I found myself and really helped out.

Also, I’d caution against changing backing plates to different sizes. I know with rupes they are against doing so as their machines are balanced and tuned for the specific size backing plate the arrive with.

changing backing plates is more of a DA problem because the weight assembly is offsetting the backing plate and the polishing pad. on a rotary like this, changing the backing plate isnt as much of an issue, provided that you dont go bigger and stress the motor or gearbox.

I haven't had a chance to use mine yet but thought it was strange that the battery mounting was different than the DA. I'm assuming that this came out before the DA?

yea it came out a few years before the DA did (2016 i think). I find both of them easy to use.

Excellent video! Is there a progressive trigger on the milwaukee?

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

Yea its a variable speed trigger.

    Sounds like trash?

It sounded a little grindy out of the box, once i used it for a few hours it smoothed out pretty well.

@ yes. Grindy. Not sure if they all usually sound like that, but it caught me off guard how bad it sounded. Not exactly sure how that would smooth out or maybe you just got used to the sound and it wasn’t as noticeable

@@1HughxJanise1 its definitely quieter after using it, my guess is that the mesh on the gears wore in a little, maybe the grease going through a few heat cycles helped? Ill open it up at some point and see what it looks like inside.
