Nice car, eleven years Bob, it's been a hard life. Great video, look forward to the "adventure" trips. Your chats with people (in North South Pole run) was very good. Be nice to see what public think of some of the cars.
5:00 - I think you can configure the switching mechanism when you press and hold the switch for a few seconds - you can set it so it stays either on AC controls or infotainment shortcuts.
Whilst I would agree there is a lot to like about this car I think the £522 road tax for 5 years is what puts me off.I’m glad we went for the Niro EV3.Great video though 👍
I still think the Sportage has some of the best exterior design on sale on this planet. Its refresh cycle is even more impressive. Kia-Hyundai are releasing some of the most innovative car designs anyone is currently making for the mass market. From a South Korean company - competing in the US AND Europe. The Kia6/Ionic 5 are near the best EVs on sale - bar Tesla. Most other SUVs are so bland as to be near invisible.
Great work as always Bob, hope you get to the 100k soon. I personally love what Kia are doing now, those usb’s in the seat are a stroke of genius. All the best, Jim.
Class looking machine! Not a fan of petrol hybrids,in fact a bit of a con. Drove diesel model hire car on holiday and managed high 50s mpg. Great torque and would make a great tow car. Great show Bob!
Great review, 70 km range on electric is great, your ladt review on pole to pole highlighted charger anxiety in this country tú ó great effect, now it looks live we will have electricity anxiety as well... I am a firm believer that electric cars are for towns / city's for air quality and petrol / diesel for long commutes, this can deliver on both fronts for the next 10 years.
Yes but since air quality in cities are regularly failing you'll have to accept paying either a high congestion charge to enter the city with your fossil fuel car or park and ride at the city boundries. Even London with a high level of EVs and phevs as well as the charge still has chronic air quality so the charge will keep rising and other UK cities are to copy it. Most phevs still have woeful electric range. Petrol is likely to be let become more expensive until diesel demand drops dramatically for commercial transport but the London congestion charge applies to diesel commercial as well and dirtier diesels pay a higher fee. So as long as you don't regularly travel into future Dublin or perhaps Cork/Galway from your rural home then petrol-diesel will be fine. Note used diesel car prices in the U.K. keep falling due to lower demand and petrol generates higher C02 which like here = higher car tax
Good afternoon Bob, I have ordered the HEV version in GT Line S trim in what I call ‘Shark Grey’ her in Shitsville (U.K.) but it’s a long wait - ordered in April and still no build date let alone a delivery date.
It's not small. I hate when people call cars in that class small. Its not. Small would be the Toyota Aygo X that's small or a Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, Fiat 500X etc.
I picked up my K3 PHEV last Friday traded in a GT line S diesel was told the K4 spec wasn’t available so took the K3 lost my leather seats and sunroof but gained awd and an auto. Loving the car so far nearly 600 kms up and she’s doing 3.3L/100kms old car was doing 6.5L/100km I’m happy when charging taking in to consideration and fuel used she’s costing me about 0.075 cent a km compared to the old one would have cost me 0.12cent a km so far so good
Hi just wondering what year your gt was as I'm thinking the same to change my ft to a phev my ft is 1 Yr old and I'm a bit disappointed with it iv had a bit of sensor trouble with it with regards to deisel
@@michaelkelly1278 my old GT Line was 2018 181 reg didn't have any bother with it over the 4 1/2 years and 75000kms we put on it glad I made the change to the PHEV just disappointed that you can now get it in K4 spec but got a great deal on mine so can't complain
Mate if you sit any closer to the steering wheel your chin will be resting on the top!! It's making me very uncomfortable! Anyway, needlessly judgemental comment out of the way, thanks for the vid! I tried the manual version today and quite liked it but I wish I could get the extra safety tech you get with the higher spec versions which are only automatic. I've never driven auto before, so scared to take the leap!
PHEVs with much longer range can be an interim answer but its still just a more efficient hybrid. Its still emitting C02 (and other toxic stuff). At present it gets a free cut in car tax but those car tax bands have to change to incentivise near zero emissions. Most PHEVs real range is so low as to be near useless (bar driving around the town car park) or stuck in traffic. Studies showed that most never recharged the car otherwise as the time vs range was not worth the effort. The reason for buying them anyway and the extra cost - lower car tax/old SEAI grants and the regular massive commute to some rural location. PHEV grants from the gov do not apply anymore and all that battery weight not charged as well as a full ICE engine when it is charged make PHEVs as they stand neither fish nor fowl. A halfway house that falls between. Most PHEVs have slow charging, low EV range (even lower in reality), higher cost and at some stage more expensive maintenance and more frequent need to replace the battery (if its even worth the cost for such a small range). Once the grants have ended for PHEVs and the car maker is not subsiding it to ship metal, its sales tank like a sinking Titanic. Useless examples were Prius plugin/All BMW-Merc PHEVs and the iconic Outlander PHEV.
Its also pretty expensive. No electric grant. Lower car tax but Those emission figures will become more realistic as current results are fantasy like old fuel economy results vs reality
@@BobFlavinVideo pity about stock. I think Phev might suit me well. Got a great offer on my own 211 rifter WAV against in stock 222 Crv hybrid so might take that in the mean time.
Majority of people are right handed then car like this you need to operate most thing with left hand not so fun. Must be more expensive also to car company make less cars with steering wheel right when majority countries uses car that has steering wheel left.
The front of the car is really terrible to much going on, the back is a bit better, I am amazed you plugged it so much, maybe the greased you well, I would give it 4 out of 10......
Don't buy a Kia 2 year old car and the engines scrap the dealers don't want to know Kia UK doesn't do anything still have to pay for a car I don't have. Warning don't buy a Kia.

I think you are spot on with the assessment bob KIA have knocked it out of the park with this one.

Exactly. Ridiculous.

I subscribed to your channel because of your enthusiasm for that old model Sportage. I thought it was beautiful too.

Hey Bob, you can actually change the "default" settings to show the last used, or change back to whatever you want in the music/climate screen.
I remember those first videos, that was a quick 11 years!
My 2008 vw 1.9 tdi is refusing to die after 13 yrs although it’s tempting but I’ve concluded it’s just for fashion great channel and Sunday service
The AWD makes this car quite snappy and sporty and I wouldnt go without it.

Lead times are an issue for all car makers at the moment, it's very difficult to get parts. It's worth the wait

Great review once more. What spec trim was on the phev? K? 👍
This or the diesel is better? fuel economy?
Hi Bob, when parked near a wall, shurb or car the parking sensors keep beeping even when out of gear, do you know of a way to stop that
Easy, just press the P button below where the gear selector is. This will mute the parking sensors sound.
Hi Bob, I was looking at these in the local Kia showroom and was told that the PHEV was not available in the green,???
Or k4 as he’s driving I picked up my K3 PHEV last week so far very happy
Great review But (there's always a but after a positive). During the review, you take your

0:20, crv and rav4 were always ahead of it in terms of build quality, engines and everything by mainstream class so to speak. In my market at least.

So ya now like phev's :) . Might look at them when they come into stock.. for now I am tempted for a CRV hybrid.
I like a PHEV with a long range, the Sportage is 70km. The short range ones are a pain that requires charging all the time.

The new model seams to eat a lot of oil! Anyone know something about this issue?
Where did you hear this? I just did my first oil change at 3200 miles. Engine did not use any oil
