    Who else finds these old films fascinating?? I find them to be a breath of fresh air. Corny, yes, but better than what Hollywood puts out now. I remember watching the 3 O'Clock show after school. Always a scary show, sure to give way to nightmares. I miss those days......

      Considering the cheap funding, special effects and character development is lacking. But the plot lines and dialogue is fun.

    This movie brings back such fond memories of childhood! Remember when there was only 3 channels on tv? On Saturday afternoon was the Creature Feature where we all watched Creature from the black lagoon, Snow Beast, Frankenstein and so many more!!! I would rather watch these than half the crap they try to pass off as entertainment these days!! My Aunt helped build the movie sets for a lot of these movies too! It really was movie magic back then!!

    • @elizabethgaspodnetich4322
      @elizabethgaspodnetich4322 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Jerry Polverino May Aunt lived in LA, Ca most of her adult life, all 90 years of it! She had a studio just around the Paramont building, but don't test me on that because it has been one hell of a long time ago!! When I got older I helped her in a few commercial sets. She did more than a few of those too. The last one I worked on with her was for a cigarette commercial so that should tell you something about how long it's been!!!!

      @Jerry Polverino LOL!n
      Could you imagine how damaged our little brains would have been if they could use the special effects they have today in one of the movies we watched back in the early 60's or so?? Would have scared me right out of my little mind!! I remember all the channels too! CBS,NBC and ABC and once in a while there was a PBS station we could get if you played with the antenna just right!

    He stood 7 ' 4" tall and worked as a doorman at Grauman's chinese theater in California when
    he was discovered and became an actor.

      mary smith - 😳 Me, too! In addition to everything else, I haven’t been able go outdoors at all for the last 2 weeks. We have several large wildfires burning in Colorado and we’re shrouded in heavy smoke, regardless of wind direction (much worse for those in California, of course). We’re having symptoms even indoors. Some of the fires are expected to burn until the snow puts them out in November. It’s so extremely hot and dry that more fires are an unnerving possibility. What next? Godzilla? Giant spiders? An alien spacecraft landing? Hang in there! ❤️

    I've watched this movie several times and actually like it. I love the 50's era travelogue beginning. The whole thing is low budget schlock which is pure nostalgia for me with a few 'so bad it's good' laughs here and there. The sherpas are all Japanese and when they speak, it's in Japanese as well.

    • @tenhirankei
      @tenhirankei 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought I heard the leader of the Sherpa speaking Japanese, but I couldn't believe that they would resort to that. Japanese was not that unrecognizable to people outside of Asia after WW2, it would be ridiculous to think that the Sherpas speak it among themselves.

    This movie takes me back. I remember growing up in the late 60’s and early 70’s , Where Television was only 9 channels , 2,4,5,7,9,11,13,25 and channel 21 , back then. My father would have family scary night on Saturday, Lol. We had a choice of either channel 11 , Thriller at 8pm or channel 5 Creature Featured at 8pm. My father, mother and my siblings would gather around the set in our pajamas on a cold scary night drinking hot chocolate and watching B Sci-fi’s movies, God I miss those days

    Fun quarantine flick.. Notice at 58:00 the street sweeper is sweeping the trash right into the storm drain, which would flow directly into the Pacific Ocean. Of course, this was also when sewerage went straight into the ocean. The movies may not have gotten better, but luckily sanitation methods have.

    This is great. Like so many comments here it brings back memories of a Sunday afternoon or a Saturday night creature feature night. I guess the budget didn't allow for real Nepalese or Tibetan actors, though. The "natives" are speaking Japanese (as mentioned above). I guess at that time the makers of the film figured few people would catch on so they ran with it. None the less its still fun to watch for nostalgic sake alone.
    Thanks for the post.

    Teru Shimada as the rather nasty Sherpa. Shimada came here in the early 30's and had a very successful career into the 70's. The cave they took refuge in wasn't in the far flung Himalayas, but in Bronson Canyon, just behind the hill where the Hollywood sign is located, The location has been used in literally hundreds of film and TV productions...
    Of course all of the Sherpas are speaking Japanese...Most likely all American citizens from LA.

      While I enjoy watching the oldies, I have to point out that if these various sites were bothered by the "dislikes," then both 'like' and 'dislike' should be removed. Why should only those who "like" things have a say? Gives a false picture to those who put things on TH-cam, and shows a serious lack of maturity of those who make childish comments on the people who simply dislike certain things.
