It can be Lucknow if it is based on the struggle of 1857 as there were nawaabs too so i guess it can borrow from so many places....there are so many stories of coursteins & nawaabs across India in that time period of 200 years but yeahh BRITISH INDIA started getting power from Bengal and then Delhi & LUCKNOW later on
Courtseans ( exisited all over india, they are pioner in classical dance and music,it is through them that our music continued to live on even if it got banned cz in temples and their palaces (kothas) it was their rule. Almost all kingdoms used to grant lands and patrineoge to these women and enuchs . They haved written alot of litreature that still exists in temple teasures.
They were patrions of all the artists and had incredible political power. Every aristocrat was sent to them for ettiquet training. In fact, the revolt of 1857 was led by the Tawaifs. Their kotha was the place for every freedom fighter to meet, they funded a lot of freedom movements across the country.
Every single molecule of the screen looks exquisitely mesmerising when Sanjay leela Bhansali is the director. His way of story telling and the world that he creates is absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to your reaction to his Ramleela

@@TayyabKhan-mo2be Urdu might not be a culture in Pakistan, but in India, at Lucknow, Delhi, Hyderabad, Rampur, Srinagar, Bhopal Urdu is not just a language but a whole culture in itself. Its called Urdu Saqafat or Urdu Tehzeeb.
Urdu is not originally from Lahore, Punjabi is from Lahore. Urdu is from Lucknow & Delhi. Its native to India, not Pakistan, in Pakistan its a link language to communicate with people of different languages. But in India Urdu is a native regional language.

And just to be clear we're not proud of that Mandi at all that's why half part of it is now in old ruins and rest of it has been changed into food street.

A given title of National Language is an artificially allotted tag to a language, but when we say Regional Language, it conveys the inherent identity of a language which it gets by naturally belonging to a specific region. In context with Urdu that region is western Uttar Pradesh of India. That's why Urdu is a native & regional language in India, but is only an artificially designated national language of Pakistan to which Urdu is NOT native or regional.
We've immense gratitude towards Tawaifs of India for their contribution in our freedom struggle & in preservation & evolution of our north Indian cultural heritage- Kathak, Hindustani Classical Music, Ghazals & Urdu Shayari.

If you looking for movie to watch, Ponniyin Selvan will be ideal. Story from epic adventurous novel, partly fictious but, the characters and place are real. Directed by legendary director Mani Rathnam who directed Dil Se. It is very long movie and hence in two parts. Music scored by AR Rhman. All the songs in this movie are fabulous. You can also watch function held to release the songs before the movie was released. You will like it.

Movie is in Pure Urdu and Pakistani accent. Lakhnaw and Heydrabadi accent is different. This is pure Pakistani accent.
Women Dressing, makeup, jewellery and names seems pure Pakistani also.
Sanjay leela bhansali's most films have these elements like the classical of all time "Devdas"
You should watch Devdas or Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam next. That's peak SLB and Aishwarya! Especially from a cinematography and music stand point. It's kinda pointless to watch his newer movies unless you haven't seen him and the actors in it at their BEST. With Heera Mandi and even Padmaavat/Bajirao Mastani there are tons of references of old movies/music videos like Pakeezah and Mughal-e-Azam which as a foreign watcher you won't get.
You guys should now check out the songs by the new Indian I-Pop girl group - W.i.S.H. They have released 2 new songs called Lazeez and Galti. Very impressive as debutants, amazingly talented girl group with impressive vocals.

In fact, Pakistan ke kai log Urdu ko apna nahi samajhte (woh unki waise bhi nahi hai). Use Mohajir Indians ki zabaan kehte hain. Pakistan native languages chhodke ek Indian language ko promote kar raha hai, ye sirf main nahi kai Pakistani leaders keh ke gaye hain maazi mein!
