Tom

Awesome vid again. I think I see a slight edge with the Wolverine vs the Valkyrie now unless they pushed the limits more than you did. Still Bravo!

You can't say that like that.😅 Both packrafts have their advantages and disadvantages. And yes, I always tried to take the easiest line, whereas Seon always went full throttle and paddled into the middle of the biggest waves. But at the end of the tour, I was really glad that I was out and about in my Selfbailer Wolverine.

How did u feel about your self bailing Gnarwhal compared with the fullas in decked Valkyrie after that?

Hey Deane, that was a Wolverine, but yes, on some of the rapids I was a lame duck compared to the Valkyries and had to fight to keep up. And of course, some of the waves in the self-bailer slowed me down more than the WW-Deck Valkyries. But all in all, I was still very happy with my Wolverine and surprised at how well you can still paddle it in big water like the Karnali. As it allows for more mistakes and you can easily make the wet re-entry, I was very happy at the end of the tour not to have paddled the Valkyrie. Cheers Tom

@@Packraftexplorers wonder if the bigger tubes of the Gnarwhal would of handled the big volume better? I’d prefer the self bailer anytime in big water.

@@DeaneParkerAdventureChannel i have both the Wolverine 420d in Large and a Medium Gnarwhal 420d self bailers and I’ve found the Wolverine outperformed in every aspect really, the Gnarwhal even downsizing to make it more edgy. I felt like the Gnarwhal was still very sluggish and couldn’t turn as well as the Wolverine + they look Almost the same but the feel is very different and I’ve swam with the Gnarwhal too. Hope this helps and my take is 420d stiffness all the way in WW. The only kudos with the Gnarwhal is when slamming big water in a straight line and even then the Wolverine was on par with it.

@@DeaneParkerAdventureChannel Yes me too, I also prefer a Selfbailer more, where I know I'll swim a lot. I'm still not that solid with my combat roll. 🙃BR Tom.
