I mentioned in a previous video that by changing the show's outbreak happing to 2003 meant they also changed Tommy's backstory to where he's a Desert Storm veteran. Well, another thing they changed in the show was having Maria be pregnant (on top of her having lost a child) which gave him extra motivation to stay behind in Jackson rather than take Ellie to The Fireflies.
Idk if you got time but the guy who made the game also worked on the show so he and the show creator had a post episode podcast for the entire season which was really interesting to listen to, made time to listen to it every week after the episodes dropped :)
If you didn't know, this show is also done by the creator of *Chernobyl* on HBO. It seems no mistake that we all praise *The Last Of Us* for its amazing visual quality & artistry in its storytelling. I am so glad we all get to experience these well-made pieces of art together. 👏

The young woman singing the version of Depeche Modes Never Let me Down Again (heard earlier at the end of episode one) at the end of the episode was show producer Craig Mazins daughter. He asked her to do the song because of the theme of a daughter losing her father. He said that not only was it appropriate because it was sung by his actual daughter, but he came to look at actor Bella Ramsay as his daughter.
Gabriel Luna is such a great actor, have loved him since he played Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD. He’s defo my favourite character adaption and actor from this show.
So, the big infected is called a bloater. It's basically (from what I remember) is someone that has been infected for a LONG time. It's kind of like clicker, the ones who have their face covered in fungi, but in their whole body. Something I like about the universe is that there are a LOT of potential to different kind of infected with different variants of mutations
We know there will be 3 seasons for sure as Neil and Craig have said the second game will be at least 2 seasons (it's a lot more story than the first game). Currently the first episode for season 2 is written but past that they have to wait for the strikes to end. Production was supposed to start in Vancouver in November this year but it's gonna be a while. They have also said they will not go past the games, and said that there will be 3-5 seasons total. So we know there will almost certainly be a 3rd game but it hasn't been officially announced yet, so we could be waiting 5-8 years for anything past the 3rd season. I may be biased (as I live here) but I think they chose the right place to film as all these locations work so well for the real-life adaptation. Really the only exterior location that wasn't 'real' is the cul-de-sac at the end of episode 5, which was build up in a parking lot in an industrial lot in the city, and even then the frames/exterior of the houses were real. The town of Jackson here is actually the main street in the town of Canmore (a massive tourist spot before, and even moreso now). The university in the episode is actually 2 different universities in our city (SAIT for the gate where they find it, Mount Royal for everything else).
the couple in the beginning are AWESOME, Graham Greene, an amazing actor, and Elaine Miles I only know her from a show from years ago 'Northern Exposure' but she was great in it.

They were *optimistic* about being able to begin shooting by end of this year/early next year but the strikes are stopping that and who knows when it'll stop. So yeah it's just years away, you're better off playing the game. She knew Michonne before the zombie outbreak and found her in Alexandria after Rick disappeared. She took Judith and was going to orphan her by killing a pregnant Michonne and Daryl. She had a whole group of kids that she orphaned and made them do her work for her
The performance of the game between Joel and Ellie is as real as the performance on the show… it’s so mind blowing especially coming off of playing the game for years and to see these actors portray not only the dialogue but also movements of the characters… Hats off to everyone involved because they understood the assignment lol.
I love this ep. They reproduce the major scenes of the games and they adapted a little, but it is fucking great. I'm waiting for the ep8 witch is my favorite on the show !
Hey Primate! Did you know that Maria was actually in the Scars episode of Walking Dead? The friend of Michonne that had the murder army of children?! I had to catch my breath and calm down before I could accept Maria in this show. 😂

That opening with the couple is original to the show but that would’ve fit in perfectly in the game, once again another scene that was word for word from the game with Ellie & Joel’s argument but even knowing it by heart it still exciting to see it again, Ellie crying for Joel to wake up is just as effective in the show as the game.
This was one of those episodes where I really wished they'd followed the game more, when Joel got impaled Ellie took full control of the situation. Sneaking them out, killing several people in the process. Really showed she was more than capable and able to hold her own when it came down to it and help Joel just as much as he helps her.
Did Ellie not take control of the situation though? The scene where she's talking to Joel after he falls off the horse is ripped straight from the game, too.
I've never played the games, but I know the story line of the 2nd game and I'm just not interested. It's not how good the adaptation might be, but that I'm not interested in seeing the game version, so I'm definitely not interested in seeing an adaptation of it. However, that's my personal feelings about it. Maybe you'll feel differently when you watch it.
