My favorite channel on TH-cam. Makes me feel like I'm back in the 90s again

October 29th, hey, that's tomorrow! These will have been 25 years old! ^-^
Wee, what a perfect way to celebrate Halloween, hoarding my desk full of candy and chilling, watching some 90s commercials with some soda pop. I couldn't ask for a better life! All hail the 90s. ...Jesus Christ, what I wouldn't give though to go back to when you could get a burger for $0.99!!

It's always amazing seeing how cheap food was back then.

Ahh, Nightmare Before Christmas is still one of my favorite movies ever and I watch it at least once a year.

We didn't get the Sci Fi Channel until 1997, so these ads reminded me of what we didn't have! That and a lot of other channels that we'd see ads for.

i could never get toaster strudels toasted right. either the outside was perfect and the inside was cold, or the inside was perfect and the outside was burnt.

I know many of you might disagree, but I always found 1989's Pet Sematary to be a very cheesy film that could not come close to the intensity of King's novel. I just never got behind the performances in the film, and how the film leaves out some details from the book. A lot of people consider this to be one of the better King adaptations, but I just could never get behind this one. I know we're getting a new film next year, and hopefully it will turn out better, but I have my doubts.
And Nightmare Before Christmas. My older brother and I actually drove out to another city to see this film when it started in limited release a couple weeks before it went into wide release. We were both so excited to see it, and we absolutely loved it. Great memories of that day, and of buying the CD soundtrack shortly after, which I listened to many times that fall.

I've always loved the cheesy movies, especially The Langoliers. I will say, however, that my favorite movie was Silver Bullet, but not sure if it's way off from the book or not.

@Reds Fan I never read the book. So I can not compare the movie to the book. So I am also with the movie.

I swear back then that ad for sci-fi channel with the guy with a TV head always made me think of Die Hard GameFan magazine's mascot (who was also kinda blue and had a TV monitor head) I'm sure it wasn't just me... was it? :P

Yes, it does look suspiciously like the GameFan mascot, Monitaur. Man, I miss GameFan. Although apparently it was a mess behind the scenes, it was a great mag that introduced me to some great games.

@@yusakug Indeed! I do believe that it was prolly a mess behind the scenes, though... like that thing with the ace combat review that apparently got them in quite a bit of hot water?! that surprised the hell out of me when I saw it!

Yep, there was that infamous incident, but what happened behind the scenes was even worse. People who worked at the magazine talked about incidents of someone once spiking the Editor in Chief's coffee with acid (the drug), and how whenever paychecks were handed out, everyone had to make a mad dash to the bank to make sure they got paid, since the company usually didn't have enough money to cover all the checks that were handed out. Those who got to the bank late usually had to wait a few days to cash their checks, when the company had more money to use. One of the editors described it as a scene out of Cannonball Run with all the editors fleeing the building and racing to get to the bank first.

@@yusakug wow yeah I'm inclined to believe that all happened... I just remember the ace combat thing because it just came out of nowhere as I was reading the issue, and made me wonder how the hell that got past the editor.... but given your stories I can't say I'm surprised, haha.
