    EDIT:
    Apologies for getting mislead and mixed up in my research of the demise of GTW 5629. I eventually learned the truth from History In The Dark’s video of 5629 the day it released and have since then blamed Jenson for the death of 5629 and reconciled with Metra. I made this edit to my comment and description because I was recently cyberbullied about this mistake by a Colorado railfan(who did apologize for it) and am taking drastic measures to make my change of thoughts more announced so avoid more risks of my past self being cyberbullied. See my corrected version: th-cam.com/video/xDSQZ8HYKho/w-d-xo.html
    I know that my voice complaining may get annoying, I was still figuring out the best place to position my microphone to best tolerate how my voice sounded to me.
    I’m still working on tolerating my voice

    Considering the nearly identical stories and fates that would befell both Grand Trunk Western 5629 and CB&Q 5632, isn't it almost symbolic and slightly unsettling that both have surviving siblings that happen to share each others numbers?

    • @AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan4014
      @AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan4014  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah. That story only got more unsettling when a two part article titled “A Passion For Steam” exposed the shocking truth of how just how much responsibility Jensen had for the loss of GTW 5629, and impact of 5632’s loss on his thought process when 5629 was put in the same danger. That article later became the Basis of History In The Dark’s 5629 video, which I learned the truth from.

      The story to that only got sadder to the internet when a two part article named “A passion for steam” revealed that it was actually Jenson’s fault that it happened, not Metra’s, and that they tried everything they could to get legal authorization to just donate it, in 2021. History In the Dark later based his research for his 5629 video on the content of that article, resulting in him possibly being the first TH-camr to expose Jenson’s idiocy to the platform in late 2022(then reuploaded in January 2023 due to copyright). It was from that video I learned the real truth, on the day it premiered. Since then, I’ve resented myself for screwing up the 5629 segment in this video so badly. So much I even took 48 hours out of my life to make this: th-cam.com/video/xDSQZ8HYKho/w-d-xo.html

    The GT 5030 for what I heard has been moved out of Jackson, MI not long ago I believe and is now heading to PA. Think they will restore or repair the locomotive from the damage of the elements and people destroying the inside. I have a video that's pretty old that showed the state the Locomotive was in back around 2011 on my channel. If ya ever like to use footage of the Locomotive your more then welcome to use it :) . Great video.

      @iftheseoldbeastscouldtalk7796 ปีที่แล้ว

      5030 is as of today, still there. From what I heard they may try to steam it up as despite the outward condition, it's what's on the inside that counts. Seems in decent shape except for really bad paint peeling and surface rusting but one has to remember how thick steamers are. So long and short, still there but quite the bright outlook indeed.

    6018 King Henry VI was a western legend, it was the longest serving King class and pulled the final train for the class in January 1963. Despite Billy Butlin trying to save the engine, it was in vain and sadly the engine was cut in later in the year. It would be nice to have one of the Henry kings preserved, as we have two Edwards and a George.

    Instead of scrapping it Jensen could have sold the locomotive to Metra instead of having him scrapping it.

    • @AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan4014
      @AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan4014  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed. That guy just cared more about his financial troubles and getting as much money out of a lawsuit as possible, than his own locomotive. Unsurprisingly his plan failed so miserably and Metra and the court(who forced them to cut it up) had the last laugh. He just could not let his locomotives go. Also, as you can tell, I eventually learned the truth that 5629 was Jensen's fault when I saw Darkness The Curse's 5629 video on the day the original premiered, and naturally no longer blame Metra for any of it and thus don't take any disliking to them anymore. th-cam.com/video/xDSQZ8HYKho/w-d-xo.html

    A Good Video! However, my only criticism is that I think you were being a little bit too harsh on Richard Jensen. He's the man who saved the 5629, and there wasn't much he could've done to save the locomotive. It, for the most part, was completely out of his control.

      He learned the truth of what really happened several months ago, and now knows it was Jenson’s fault. The sources he had at the time were just not clear on who’s fault it really was. Infact even Christopher Kovacs didn’t know the real truth until much later on. Andrew even announced this little debacle during his July 4 livestream and along with it the fact he now knows it was really Jenson’s fault. He no longer despises Metra

      Dude, what the absolute heck?! 😡This story is one of biggest controversies in and infamous in US railroad history. Not to mention, the way I sent about discussing 5629 in this video is the greatest mistake I’ve ever made in my TH-cam life because of how badly I had screwed up when it came to addressing who’s fault it was. Afterall my channel was still in it’s infancy with train videos at the time and I wasn’t as good as this as I was now. And I hadn’t even been doing it for a year at that point. I really encourage you to rethink what you said before I even remove it myself with in a week if I remember.
      Also on a side note, I eventually learned the truth that it was mostly Jensen’s fault at the beginning of this year from History In The Dark’s 5629 video. Edit: and I made this in response to address my acknowledgement: th-cam.com/video/xDSQZ8HYKho/w-d-xo.html

      @@AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan4014 I’ve only heard summaries in similar videos, but I just went and read a couple stories online (not sure if they’re the straight poop or a bit biased). Sounds like Jensen actually told Metra they could scrap it but changed his mind? Then a court ruled that Metra could scrap it if Jensen couldn’t afford to move it.
      Definitely less irritated at Metra; they took the appropriate legal actions before scrapping the engine. Technically, they did have the authority to scrap it if the owner couldn’t move it. Most rail fans would have preferred that Metra moved it themselves, but business typically rules in these cases. In any case, it’s good there are surviving classmates.

      Not really, I realized a few months ago it was more so Jenson’s fault and not so much Metra’s thanks to History In The Dark. Although Metra still did have some fault since some employees did steel parts from 5629 and Metra’s demands to move 5629 were a bit ridiculous since the tracks ahead of 5629 had been pulled up, making a move almost impossible. But still, the blame is mostly on Jenson for not allowing anyone to move 5629. He had even hoped the scrapping would give him the chance to sue Metra for the money needed to fix his medical problems but the court just told him to shut it instead since it was ridiculous what he was trying to do. All he did was destroy 5629. The court gave Metra no choice.
