I knew George was an excellent professional musician, but to able to play "Keep The Home Fires Burning" like that, on such an occasion! What a great man and musician.

I went to this service in Covent Garden in 2002 after I'd met Patrick on a tv set as a journalist a few years earlier. Apart from John Inman, there was nobody from the world of showbusiness there. It struck me as how empty and soulless the tv world was - Hinge and Bracket made thousands of pounds for TV shows [and Harveys Bristol Cream] in their hey day appearing on sketch shows, panel games and chat shows on prime time tv with A list celebs. But not a bugger of them turned up to say farewell- apart from Mr Inman. What a vacuous lot. Just saying. RIP Patrick xxx

Wendy Craig was there-as we'd all done the Eastbourne panto in 1998 Bobby Crush made a wonderful speech Marilyn Hill Smith sang beautifully and there were a fair few troupers from the panto world.Xx

Sad that "they" never took the time to pay respect.

Wonderful. I remember them well, even though they never reached New Zealand. So many excellent photographs. Thank you for posting this.

    I agree-but It really didn't need a host of A list/B list or " wannabees "!-
Like yourself- we were there to pay tribute to our friend and colleague. The theatre and pantomime community was out in force (self included )-and Wendy Craig who worked with us at Eastbourne in "Cinderella" with Patrick and George. There was a good attendance -and it's fitting that those who attended didn't go to "be seen"- but to pay tribute to a unique talent ,a "one off" and a legend."They don't make them like that anymore".xxxxx
    (And Ps- ENVA CREAM DEAR!.XX)
