More than just female impersonation, Logan & Fyffe created the most believable older ladies born in the 20's. Played with such truth and sincerity, every mannerism and detail finely tuned to perfection, note how the audience react when they are told Dame Hilda (Fyffe) was in her seventies, they really believe it. Even the singing voice is that of an elderly soprano, Fyffe and Logan were wonderful at their portrayal, is it any wonder people believed them to be real ladies as 'Hinge & Bracket'. God needed Patrick Fyffe in heaven and Patrick passed to the spirit world at the real age of just 60. Fyffe believed in the after life so no doubt Dame Hilda is still singing her heart out. To quote the line 'We'll Gather Lilacs' (In The Spring Again) song, ''although you're far a way, and life seems sad and grey''.........
It is a particularly lovely British trait that we accepted the persona of this performer as if Hilda really was real...and, of course, she was in a way - the conversation moves from comical to normal, even though, essentially the character is not real. It’s cute to watch.

The couple split up for a while after the News of the World carried lurid stories about Logan's “sordid secret life of gay sex and drugs” (a man he had met at a gay club had sold his story to the paper) and when Fyffe had to take time off to care for his sick mother.
When I was a teenager, Hinge and Brackett almost always appeared on Christmas Eve, on BBC 1, either in their own show, or as guests. Loved them, they made the festive days feel special. Now the station is woke, they would never be allowed on.
Of course they would be allowed. The BBC have even more drag acts on today than ever before and you clearly don't understand what the word 'woke' means!

My Grandparents saw Hinge and Bracket on stage, I wish I had! The series Dear Ladies was brilliant too. It's never on TV now.
