I bought an explorer in june with 86k on the clock. the rack is finally going out the same exact way it sounds in this video. the part comes today and although i do not have a lift, I have even more confidence in my abilities to do the job. Mine had to be reset to clear an ABS light and restore all steering functionality - took 2 minutes using forscan. Don't waste time at a dealership, they'll lie and say your brand new steering rack is bad and offer to redo the whole job for $2000
yes. this generation spans from 2011-2017 so you have to just match the engines and make sure you are not buying for the police interceptor trim, as its been beefed up usually and needs different parts. most from the 3.5L TT V6 fit onto a police interceptor and platinum trim, but almost no other trim can be compatible with those three
Hello friend, one question, after replacement, is it necessary to take it for alignment? I have a friend who made a replacement, I don't have it aligned and the car runs for 30 minutes and it got hard again 😅
I have a 2012 explorer . Lost power steering. Tractiin control fault and blinkers stopped working. Wondering if the problem could be the rack or something else
@@cobypotts8153 yes to both of you, i had the exact same problems. remember, everything on our cars revolve around connection vs mechanical input. if things start having wonky readings, there is a possibility that its throwing off other electrical systems.
@@RastamanBuilds did it have park assist? Also, just found out, Ford has added a total of 10 years of warranty on these. Your customer could be compensated for this repair.
In order for the nuts to be unscrewed and the bolts to remain intact, you need to clean the rust with a metal brush and fill everything with WD40 or brake fluid. And what is also important, you need to unscrew it with your hands, not milookee with a torque of 1000 Nm. Although this also does not guarantee that the bolt will remain intact, it increases its chances of life.😉

I would hate to do this on the ground
I know that's a bunch of BS you can't replace that bushing yourself or there's not a spring to tighten it. That's a 1500 fix
