5:10 If people buy a refillable Keurig k-cup and transfer the Ray cup coffee to the refillable or just put a neon orange sticker on the left side of the Ray cup then it will trick the Keurig 2.0 machines to brew. Just a heads up Ray, some OE's will throw codes for Catalyst efficiency when fitting a non California Emissions compliant Catalytic converter on a vehicle that originally had it, because they have very close tolerances on the amount of oxygen levels. F150's don't seem to care from my experience but I just didn't want this to bite you with some other brands that have different PCM programming depending on the Catalysts fitted. I got burnt like that on a Jaguar.
@@bradhaines3142 Actually it was because of availability during the pandemic, we couldn’t get a proper one so we went for the other one and then couldn’t figure out why it kept setting the code still for catalyst efficiency despite the levels of gas coming out of the tail pipe looking good on our gas analyzer. It was ever so much lower by a tiny amount with the CARB catalytic converter but was enough for the PCM to cry like less that 1/2 a part per million on Hydro Carbons. We do a lot of work on performance muscle cars with Carbeurators, so that is why we have the gas analyzer. To properly tune the carbs. Rich isn’t always better but a lot of muscle car guys don’t understand that. Rich = more wear, more carboned up valves all while polluting un necessarily. Yes, when you are mashing it to the floor, temporarily richer but not at idle. You can still have it sound tough without burning people's eyes at the stop-lights and killing the environment more than it does not running Catalysts.
As a former exhaust shop owner you did that quite brilliantly. Most mechanics can't figure all that out which I don't understand. As for sawzall blades Lenox 10 TPI 8-in are the best blades. Just take that heat shield unbolt it and bend it up so that you can get to your welds and then bend it back.
Use this such a good job you are good mechanic excellent can I learn a lot from you thank you for showing your knowledge your wisdom and you honesty you are a man with conscience thank you and God bless you
Ray, I welded miles of exhaust systems when I was in high school for myself and all my friends. I didn't use exhaust clamps. I welded everything using and acetylene torch and metal coat hangers for rod. I was easy and I never had a failure.
Hey Ray, great diagnosis as always. Great to see how you found the faulty cat and wheel speed sensor. Unfortunate the brand new drive shaft was faulty. Not sure how one would bill on that. Not your fault. Judging by the fast signal indicator, there's a bulb out. Cheers!
If your not a great welder could i suggest doing a series of controlled tacks, one on top of another. Ex professional welder. Cleaning rust does wonders as well. 60 bucks is not cheap brother
Ray you seem to be able to put tacks on the pipe keep on tack till you make a weld one tack at a time. The longer the bead the more heat is put into the pipe and greater chance of blowing through. We know you do not have time to practice. Have a good day day Ray
Since you're using flux core wire when in a tight spaces like that removing the gas nozzle off the MIG gun will usually help you get in tighter spaces and see the weld better.

Impressive find on the wheel sensors Ray! Sometimes happens that you repair one issue and now that the issue is repaired, it allows another to come to light. Lots of deferred maintenance here. PA Truck- check for rust on the wheel sensor mounting- but it could be anything from a squirrel to the bearings... Soup to nuts on this truck.
I have cut converters off of cars and trucks to remove a little off the inlet side of these things, Blew them out and reinstalled them only to have them work well and clear up converter related codes. I have had them Not reusable and replacements were used instead after other repairs were made to correct failures. Bad O2's Bad coolant sensors and Oil burning are contributing problems as well.
Ray please take a tip you will find that clean and shiny-- your saying make sure that your surfaces are clean with about 1/2 inch to spare you weld will take better. Best regards Ken (in the UK)
I am not a welder I just picked up a 125 titanium welder from harbor freight and all the safety and nesisarries and I started welding ok. I was practicing on scrap exhaust pipes. And I turned the speed and amps to the factory recommended settings for the metal guage and it was fine. Instead of trying to make a line I make a blob, stop then make another blob at the end of the other blob and keep doing the same thing untill it's welded.

We need to fly down Mr.Eric O from SMA for a week to have a welding class for everyone that would be Awesomeness have a great week keep on keeping on 👍
I would get the shine back in the pipe before putting a bead on it, but that’s just my preference. Still, you got more balls doing it on camera than me.
Ray - you indicated that coolant was getting into the #7 spark plug. This sparks an interest to me. Due to the fact, I own the exact type of truck but the STX stile. You also indicated the where coolant leak was coming from. Every repair have significant interest to the over all operation of the vehicle. Could you better explain the coolant leak and how it reached plug holes opposite of side of the leak. I've scratched my head over this problem for some time now, that I'm losing hair over- it . Thanks for your time. Cause what you do in your repairs open the doors to problem solving for others with similar mechanical problems. Thanks again, Jim
Welding takes practice. I'm pretty sure you have some odd scrap laying around the shop/yard that you could practice on. I took on a project of rehabbing an old trailer some time ago (body not frame), and by the time I got near the end, my welds were looking quite a bit better, although still not amazing. I do agree, it does just need to work, but practice will help you learn a bit more how the feed rate and amperage change your welds. Cheers!
Good Job. But they do make Clamps 1:1 & 2:1 etc. Fairly long stainless steel clamps. If you had cut the pipe just Slightly further back - so just pipe to pipe - with no flange - you could have just Clamped it together. No welding required. And almost guaranteed no exhaust leaks. Butt Joint; Lap Joint Clamps available for not much money at all.
It's a Ford........nuff said lol Love your vids. Don't fret about the welding. I've been a certified welder for handy 40 years and exhaust is one of the most miserable jobs to do. If you use MIG, has to be really clean for a good job. Always hard to get the nozzle in, and if you do manage, usually can't see what you are doing on the back side. As someone earlier mentioned, just spot it until you have it done, then cap it if you want. Less chance of burning through or heat distortion. Used to use a torch and brazing rods or coat hangers way back before MIG was common lol.
I had dirt get on a wheel speed sensor on a big truck that caused the something on a Freightliner 1 time. Wiped off the end of the sensor and it worked till it got dirty again. Never replaced it in 10 years. Just cleaned it off every 150 to 200,000 miles about every 2 years.
Ray setting his shirt on fire, reminded me of when i was on course with the Army reserve (ironically enough for Vehicle Tech). We were doing oxy acetylene brazing, now we were supplied with these cheap (flammable) coveralls. Also we were still wearing our highly polished combat boots. Think by now most will see where this is going, yup hot slag landed on one of the guys combat boots, then proceeded to catch on fire. Of course the one it was happening to was too focused on his task to realize. Which is an example of why you should never do welding or anything of that nature by yourself. He was fine, on combat boot was shinier then the other, and he needed a new pair off flammable coveralls.
@@tedpanes1865 I don’t know if y’all remember one welding job clip that looked like a heard of porcupines. It must have taken a week to do that many precisely spaced porcupine booger welds.
Hi, Ray, when i suspected a bad converter i would pull a o2 sensor and use a low pressure fuel gauge to check backpressure and road test with o2 sensors out to see some power come back
My thought on convertors to see if they are clogged is just open the exhaust prior to them and see if vehicle picks up power. Just a quick test drive even in parking lot is enough to see difference.
Beats the old converters that was in my Chevy Chevette... it was pellets. Mine got clogged (pellets coated) with lead that came from getting leaded gasoline in an unleaded pump...
The Steve Carrell cut had me laughing, as I was already thinking when you put that ratchet strap to the lift arm that you were going to get called out in the comment section for that. Way to get ahead of the issue.
I've been a professional welder for 16 years and I think the easiest way to get an attractive weld doing a butt weld on a thin pipe would be to just tap it. You tack it on either ends then move right below your top tack hit it with the welder remain stationary sit in your puddle long enough to get good penetration move down a little then do it again until you made it down to the bottom tack then start up top on the other side and do it again all the way down. It's not the way i would do it today but it's for sure how i would have done it 11 years ago and would work well for you.

I got burnt like that on a Jaguar.
any jag owner should know they're paying jag prices. buy once cry once is always the best way to do things
Well done ray its great to see are trustworthy mechanic 😊
As a former exhaust shop owner you did that quite brilliantly. Most mechanics can't figure all that out which I don't understand. As for sawzall blades Lenox 10 TPI 8-in are the best blades. Just take that heat shield unbolt it and bend it up so that you can get to your welds and then bend it back.
Dont let the trols give you a attitude your a good man very smart only opinion you have to worry about is your customers and your wife
Use this such a good job you are good mechanic excellent can I learn a lot from you thank you for showing your knowledge your wisdom and you honesty you are a man with conscience thank you and God bless you
My local community college has a 3-week summer course on basic welding. That might be worth looking into for you.
Hey Ray some of the best welders I know is motto is a grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't
Ray, I welded miles of exhaust systems when I was in high school for myself and all my friends. I didn't use exhaust clamps. I welded everything using and acetylene torch and metal coat hangers for rod. I was easy and I never had a failure.
In the old days we would confirm a plugged converter with a rubber mallet. If the cat rattled, the substrate had broken up.
Behind every good welder is a good grinder. Clean off beforehand then tidy up after, (Hide it). 😊
Hey now, that's a thought! I don't know if mine is removable, but if it is, there's been times it would have helped, and may in the future!
Ya Ray you’re not the best welder but as long as it works you can’t argue with success!
You're helping my decision on what truck I buy next.
right wheel sensor - the graph - "we are losing the patient!" My translation of the reading you were pointing out.
Haha, I laughed at that. It is interesting how machines sometimes can make medical looking graphs.
Love the video that shotgun a car. Gives a sample of everything.
0945 hey Ray, I love your channel. I’m amazed at how you can do so many things one-handed while filming with the other! You’re welding could use some improvement.😅 your intellect and grounded attitude are very key, especially when you shut the haters down before they can comment👍🏻 you can downhill your welding and bring heat with you and end up pulling the angle ever so slightly. Reference marks help too!😊
You should practice with old exhaust pieces, do prep work
my trouble is i keep falling asleep while watching my play list if i want to do my job right i have to start over to get my like and comment for my subscriptions completed
Awesome shows how fixing one thing leads finding other problems that need fixing
I always enjoy your vids Ray. You're amazing at what you do. Helps me understand the huge costs of repairing modern vehicles. I now truly enjoy my time working on the pre modern cars and trucks, before all this electronic stuff. Keep up the great work and awesome ethics.😊
I love your video search a new truck with such a problem thank you so much for sharing this knowledge to us appreciate it very much I took my catalytic converter on my car I had an issue there and it's running much better now my 99 expedition is running okie dokie
Something tells me Dave is a good welder. Let him do it next time :)
Normally, position 1 and 2 of the fan blower resister are the earth points for the A/C compressor relay.
it is so nice to follow your conversation, it shows the deductive reasoning you use to fix up the cars.
it is unique deductive auto logic to rule out things that do not follow the symptoms that you deduce
down to the final facts! then you fix it !
how is that engine and van repairs going? great video, it was scary when you use the wire welder!
Just got to keep you on your toes, it can't all be a simple fix. Like a not attached ground wire that made you take a whole dash back apart! lol
Cheers!
Thanks Ray I learn so much watching you work
watching you weld reminds me why I don't do it and also makes me hungry for popcorn!
Tack it together, then JB Weld over the tacking to make it look nice and smooth
Happy Friday Ray. Fix one thing two more things break. Life of a mechanic.
You need to get one of those boreoscopes like Eric O at south main has. The tip flexes back and forth with a switch.
It was not his shirt, but a shop towel that caught on fire.
@@johnhpalmer6098 my bad looked like a shirt... Tbh may have been a shirt at one time lol
Why do I know it is going to be a good video when I see Ray with a welder....😂
Because it is
Why do I always "squint" when he tells me to?
@@Jay.Kellett Yeah, me too
Those welds will be on the next episode of JustRolledIn. Lol 😅
Ok, that made me laugh. 😂
We have found "The Other Shop"! - kidding!
No, they are too good for that.
To get an exhaust system on JustRolledIn you have to repair it with expanding foam!
@@tedpanes1865 I don’t know if y’all remember one welding job clip that looked like a heard of porcupines.
It must have taken a week to do that many precisely spaced porcupine booger welds.
Professional keyboard welder here! Them welds looks fine. It it holds and seals, you good....Stay Golden Pony Boy.
I think you have a left signal light out (front or rear) based on the quicker flash of the left turn vs right.
Hi, Ray, when i suspected a bad converter i would pull a o2 sensor and use a low pressure fuel gauge to check backpressure and road test with o2 sensors out to see some power come back
OMG that phrase should be on a T-Shirt! “Grinder and Pain makes me the Welder I Aint “ Thats Awesome Ray!
I'm sure it already is. That's a very common saying I've heard many places.
A burning love of automotive repair.
You should use flux core wire and argon c02 gas and your welds would look so much better
They are machines! It's just what happens! U fix one thing... better believe there will be 5 more problems following. Love the channel ray!
My thought on convertors to see if they are clogged is just open the exhaust prior to them and see if vehicle picks up power. Just a quick test drive even in parking lot is enough to see difference.
Legend has it Ray is still trying to build those welds up to this very day.
You don't have to justify everything (like the drive shaft) when you film something that someone else doesn't want or can't believe. After all those videos, many know (including myself) that you don't spread nonsense, you have a company to run and you do that in an honest way.
Could very well be that some watching have never witnessed honesty or integrity.
