I think what you are trying to explain is lime plaster? That’s what is going to keep the stones stick together. Probably pointing so that you can see the individual stones, I would guess?
Wow! Two episodes in one week! You work so hard! Tova, the jam looks delicious! That is how our jelly looks here in the states. Serve it on bread or rolls with your butter! Yum! Great job! Loved watching Ivar play with his dump truck! Such a cutie when he laughs!
Another great video, you never disappoint us with beautiful opening and closing drone shots. I could watch Ivar all day long. He is so smart and irresistible with those dimples, and is so happy, such a joy to watch. I thought the jam turned out great. I love seeing everything your beautiful family does on your homestead. It's always interesting. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit and share with us, on top of everything else you have to do on a daily basis. ❤❤❤
Your never ending and devotion to the land your animals and your ability and hard work will one day pay off. Love your videos. Don't become discouraged. Birds Way 🐦
Little tip for you,... To avoid the glass jar from cracking, don't use that tray or stainless steel countertop. Put a teatowel, or even newspaper under them. That jam looks absolutely gorgeous!
My husband and I built our house. We did all the work ourselves. Unusual for the US. After 2 years, we had it where we could move in, but it was a long way from being complete. We made lots of changes too as we did this building, and at times could not do much as we saved money. We found lots of old building books that we referred to often. A few things we had to redo a few times. It was a wonderful experience to build our home. The slowness of building a home yourselves gives you the time to really think about the details you want and need in your home. Like the floor cellar in the kitchen. Love your videos.
I love seeing how excited Ivar gets when discovering something new! What a clever little boy he is. It is a pleasure to watch all of your projects and your lovely family. Thanks for sharing!
Love the kitchen cellar in the floor! You'll be so glad you made it so handy. I'm like you about building things... I take my time, do a lot of researching online (especially TH-cam "how to" videos by the pros), and change my mind. In the end, I am always glad I did not rush into things. Everything is taking time, but in the long run, you will be much happier when it is completed. There are many people who mean well when they make suggestions; just ignore the ones who come across as negative. You are doing fantastic! 🤗
We are also in the middle of processing the green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and some of the beetroots we have grown. And was just talking with my husband about your outdoor kitchen which I think is super practical for this kind of work when your notification pinged! Also I could not help smiling at the way Ivar was helping with rinsing the dishes... same help my grand daughters give me when they visit! So lovely to see your little one learning so many skills from you both. You are far more patient than we ever were, consequence of the rat race we lived! A small cellar in the kitchen, what a practical idea, especially in winter. Wishing you better weather for your various projects before winter arrives. Cxxxx
It is so enlightening to see you include your son in most everything you do. He is clearly learning life skills at an early age. I about fell off my chair when he asked why wheelbarrows have one wheel. It shows he pays attention to the details. Please be patient with yourselves when learning new skills. You will make great strides, and then make mistakes. So it goes. Thank you again for the beautiful glimpse into your world. Much love from beautiful Southern Oregon!🥰🌲
There is no harm in being taught, being taught 1 time and you will have that knowledge forever. I have to tell you, you son is smarter and more adorable each time I see him. He's got that little boy face rather than the baby face. I love to watch him when he's immating mom or dad, making jelly or helping with the rocks. I made jelly and jam for years and it takes time and time until you get the recipe just the way you want it. each reciep can be made by many people and it will turn out differen. Yours today made my mouth water because it looks spot on but if it's not exactly what you wanted try again and and you will have the perect recipe. You can use your on pancakes, fill cakes, oh lot of uses. Thanks for another great video.
The sheep look well fed. The land looks so much healthier than it did in your previous videos before you started. Ladybugs are a good sign and they eat the pests that bring diseases. I often wonder if you feel like all you do is move fensing..😂. Great work Mathias. I really enjoy seeing it improve. Tova, i am going to make your pickles, they look delicious!! Remember you can always warm up the jam for pancakes or dessert to thin it down. ❤ Ivar looks so proud of himself pushing the buttons and turning the screws!! 😊
Looks more of a jelly than a jam. Probably still delicious! I made a pear jam last week, it only made three jars, two for my youngest son and I and one for his older brother and wife for a housewarming gift! They bought their first house and are moving in on Saturday.
Tova your jam looks lovely! Have a look online about why you shouldn't turn jars upside down. It can create a false seal. Also some jar lids have plastic which isn't safe. If you put your hot jam in hot sterile jars with the right amount of sugar it will last years and seal well. You can use vinegar to clean the rim of the jars to help make a solid seal. Enjoy it!
I went to Sweden this summer with my daughter, granddaughter, grandson. We celebrated mid Sommer in Delarna. I'm 3rd generation Sweden. My grandmother and her parents migrated to US in 1900. I loved Sweden and felt at home. I would love to die there. I'm 74. I climbed to the top of an abandoned ski lift. Climbed in a national park. My heart was full. I'm grateful for your videos.
You both are wonderful parents! I've never seen either of you lose your temper or get impatient with him. You patiently work or play with him teaching as you go! Such a precious young man you are raising!
When you and Ivar work on electrical things, it is great how he pays attention. He seems to want to do what Daddy is doing - which is what little boys should want to do. I greatly enjoy your videos. Please keep making them.
I wish we lived close so we could help you. We know how hard it is to do so many projects on your own....which is why we are so behind in ours, lol Thank you once again for making these videos of your life....your family. The life you are cultivating is hard but so important and nurturing and healthy. You are an inspiration! Love and blessings from Eastern Ontario, Canada ♥
The Cellar under the house is a GREAT idea! Yes, no hurry to finish the larger house. You already have a sweet cabin that works fine for your family. Take your time, and make it what you will love for the rest of your lives :-)
My mother taught to put a metal spoon in the jar you are putting hot liquid in and that helps to keep it from cracking. And that apples have a lot of pectin. So if you slice up an apple and cook with your jam you don't need to add as much gelatin.
Matias, I live on six acres in South west Pennsylvania. The land has been compromised, and contaminated. We have several invasive species of plants that prohibit the growth of native plants. I’m doing my best to clear and introduce good plants, bacteria, etc. Also the opening to this video was impressive! Award winning!
Thank you! Yes, the invasive plants problem is a hard one. Management is key I would say. I highly recommend the book Holistic Management by Allan Savory. You won't get an answer on how exactly you should do, rather a guidance on how one can think.
You guys are the best. Love to watch and see your creative projects and adventures of Ivar. A simpler and important way of life. We have been inspired by you for 2 years now. Love from far northern Minnesota, USA
I just loved Ivar's response to the flood. Don't children just help us see everything with new eyes? I contributed to your windows and would be happy to contribute again, for other building materials or something like a beautiful Rayburn stove for your homestead kitchen. I'm sure many others would too, and we also benefit by getting to see the beautiful videos of transformation. You are living the dream many of us have! 🥰
I had to look twice to see if this was new ! Two videos in one week......way to go !!! The jam looked good & mine usually is that texture here, I agree it will be good with whipped cream on it too !
Hello Family. It was very Exciting to see another Video pop up. You are starting to settle and Enjoy showing us how the other Half live. I can speak for the Non Travellers. I get very Homesick and Anxiety when away from what I know. I love the way you both have a say in what you say to us. Little Ivor , must be such a joy to you as he is with me . Watching him Grow is Beautiful. Mathias do not be afraid to make a Mistake that is how everyone learns. Love , Love your Videos. Blessings from Australia
Y'all work so hard. You have many projects. I'm proud to say I watch your videos. I wish I could send money, but I do send my prayers for your family, animals, land, and home 🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏
Love your dream life and family beautiful animals holistic graze plan is looking great congrats!'🌻🏆♥️🎯🐾🦋🐞🐞🐞 hugs to gorgeous swedish wilderness peace and prosperity to all
You are so so right Matthias, I will never use the BS word in a derogatory way again!! Because as you so well explained, B..S.. is actually a very very good thing!!! And I will make a point to explain this to anybody that I hear use it as a negative. This is just one of the reasons why I enjoy and learn so much from your wonderful videos. Wishing all the best to Tova, Ivar and Yourself.🥰
I think you've done all the right things so far on the new house.Even if it's slow, you've done so much in the meantime, the sauna, the root cellar, the chicken coop, and managing all your animals. The house you're in now fulfills all your needs. Your window guys don't seem too with it, just like many contractors/hired for help people in the rest of the world.😂I just adore your videos and watching Ivar continue to amaze!! 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄
So good to watch how the sheep and cows enjoy the freshly grown grass and herbs! Very good to go by your holistic grazing plan! Very beautiful and exciting to watch; inspiring, too.
The sheep had full bellies! The blueberry jam looked delicious. We have wild huckleberries here in North Idaho. They are sure a prized and sought after berry. We had a large crop this year. The opening photography and editing of the video was so well done. Excellent. See you on the next one!
You use a horseradish leaf, my mother used a grape leaf. I always thought it was for decoration. I did not realize it was serving a purpose of keeping it in the brine, and it was always a question of mine, that I could never have an answer for.
Watching your videos brings such INSPIRATION, Hope & Happiness 💯 You truly are Making the World a Better Place for Us All❣ Sending Great Gratitude & Appreciation, Big Blessings & Love, Many Mercies & Joy, All the Compassion & Luck🍀🙏✌🏽✊🏽❤
I am really glad they are working on your windows finially. You have the right to do things how or when you can and want to. You have a great life. A hard one but you have come a long way. Take care. Wish all the best.
Just a small suggestion since you brought up subject of b.s. If you kick those piles into pieces after they dry a little you can get better coverage and discourage flies. We call old boots s___kickers for a reason. Love to your beautiful family. Blessings from NH, USA.
get some volunteers in to help you build the house. it's amazing what you can do with one or two people more. Building video's are good youtube food too.
Something else you might like to try with excess cucumbers is "cucumber lemonaide". It is soooo refreshing and very nourishing, too.😋 I love fermented pickles and also make relish with mine, too. I learned to keep the jars from cracking, keep the jars in a pot of hot water and empty each just before filling.. It's the temp difference cracking them. 😉
Thank you for another wonderful video. I loved having two in one week but I know time does not always allow for that. Your baby chicks and larger chickens seem to be very happy with the warmer weather. Love hearing how you are managing your land and seeing how much study you must have been doing on it. I would love your jam as I love thick jam on my bread. All kids love to see the streams overflowing even though it can be very destructive sometimes. Thank you again and love to your all from Australia.
It's admirable that you are willing to learn how to do things for yourselves instead of just having someone build it for you. Too many take the easy way now and don't learn how to do anything for themselves.
I’m spending a week camping in Luxembourg. I can see prehistoric hunters running around everywhere (in my imagination ;)), but your video was even better. Thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing parts of your life. It’s very relaxing and refreshing to watch you and watch Ivor grow up. He’s so curious and intelligent. Beautiful family.
This is real life and how we all should be living .We have become a society of must haves to function and throw away when broken . We have forgotten what is important and that starts with the family
For pectin one can use apples juice it contain a lot of pectin. or you can make your own pectin that way just using the juice of the apples. just keep that in mind for later on. Your son getting so big I have watched him from birth to now great son you two have there. I love your video's.
Your daily meals remind me of when I camped with my family as a child. We ate pretty much the same way. It was a good time, as long as the weather was nice! LOL!! I am surprised you have not seen ladybugs in years. While we don't have as MANY as we did long ago, they are still around. I also got a kick out of seeing a grown man playing in BS. Ha! Although I know your interest in it is more scientific than just playing. So surprising to see all that water after the thunderstorm, and ending so very close to the house! I would be afraid of it being flooded in the future, if you get repeat storms like that. Fingers crossed! (Glad to hear the cellar stayed dry. I look forward to seeing it full of cheese at some point.)
Tova, I make jam the same way no matter what fruit I use….6 cups of fruit….low boil steady for 25”……then add 2 cups of sugar, steady boil for another 25”. It always turns out. I have found that blueberry’s seem to have a lot of pectin & always seems firmer to me.
Another beautiful Video! Perfect thing to start the day with a coffee and this relxing Video! You are very inspiring human beings! Thank you so much!🩵💙💜🥰🙏
If one turns the jar upside down just briefly after filling, a vacuum is created in the jar due to the heat of the filling (in that case the jam). The vacuum keeps the lid on fast. But sounds also very good to store the jars upside down to ensure that no air will get inside longer term. Your jam looks great.
I have followed you from the very first start!I have always admired you and would have loved to help you if only I could!I saw Ivar come to life and it was a miracle to me! You give us all the reason to carry on in this world which has changed terribly, hoping you will be able to find a solution for us all ! I have visited Sweeden and admire your way of living! We are both Celts for I am Irish but unfortunately live in Italy.May God bless you and consider giving Ivar a little sister. Slan go foill!Paula☘️💚✌️🇮🇪❤
My father made jam, and to tell if it was ready to set, he would place a spoonful on a very cold plate. if it wrinkled when he pushed it with his finger, it was set. He used blueberries, sugar and lemon juice, just boiled together, no pectin. Gelatin was never necessary. I am already licking my lips thinking about your blueberry jelly and yoghurt! Well done!!
Wonderful idea about the cellar in the house! I’ve often thought this would be so convenient for you but it is your dream so not going to interfere with your thoughts and plans! And yes Matthias….. we have a-- lot of BS here in Canada as well,,,, both kinds
I love when you translate Ivar’s words into English for us. He s so smart and curious and I love to know what he is saying.
I think what you are trying to explain is lime plaster? That’s what is going to keep the stones stick together. Probably pointing so that you can see the individual stones, I would guess?
I was just thinking, does he seem to be learning English as well? Or do you only speak it when you're filming.
Great video. I love the patience you have with your son. He's learning a lot of skills from you both. Great parenting!
Agree
Beautiful video, as always. I have so much respect for you both. Such hard workers, wonderful parents, and such a willingness to learn.
AGREED!!!
Thank you for the video. I hope you can finish the floor and windows soon. Ivar is getting a good, rounded education. He’s so happy.
Wow! Two episodes in one week! You work so hard! Tova, the jam looks delicious! That is how our jelly looks here in the states. Serve it on bread or rolls with your butter! Yum! Great job! Loved watching Ivar play with his dump truck! Such a cutie when he laughs!
Yes it looks good. It is jelly, good on bread etc. it can also be used on cake etc.
I also thought the jam looked like a great consistency for spreading on bread/toast.
What a beautiful family you have Mathias! Really beautiful wife and child and farm. We wish you so much love from Tennessee. ♥
GR ís á great artist
Ivar's dimples are quickly becomming irresistible... good luck on saying no to anything when he flashes them... 😊
Figuring out how to do something is fun and frustrating. You’re doing good! Glad Ivar is “helping”..
Ivar is the star of this episode with his reaction to the stream flooding. He is so resilient and endearing.
That jam looks yummy! You are a very beautiful family, Ivar is a very happy and special boy! Looking forward to the next episode! ❤
Your never ending and devotion to the land your animals and your ability and hard work will one day pay off. Love your videos. Don't become discouraged. Birds Way 🐦
I love how Ivar helps with all your daily activities. I bet he sleeps really well every night.❤
The jam looked great! The fast flowing stream sounded like a peaceful place to sit and watch. Enjoy!
I would love this to be my life in the next life.
That blueberry jelly whith whipped cream makes my mouth water. Happy autumn days to you three and all the animals!
Ahhhhh my favourite time of year ❤
“What a fun stream it is!”
That’s a fantastic attitude.
Little tip for you,...
To avoid the glass jar from cracking, don't use that tray or stainless steel countertop.
Put a teatowel, or even newspaper under them.
That jam looks absolutely gorgeous!

Ivar is such a little man. So sweet.
Great video. I love watching Ivar learning what you and Tova do with cooking as well as working with tools etc. Love those dump trucks Ivar😉😊❤️
LOVE the drone footage in this! Make that into a short or two for advertising the channel!
Greetings from the United States. Ur videos always bring me peace and hope before I turn in. I thank u and send blessings to you. 🙏🏾
Enjoy it!

You are just the loveliest of people. May God Bless you all.
I must say you look like a close family. I love the patience you show with Ivar in your projects. Love and greetings from South Africa!

People are watching you from Cyprus. You are amazing, all the 3. 💙
Love this channel, love to see more kids from you having that natural uppbringing

This is real life and how we all should be living .We have become a society of must haves to function and throw away when broken . We have forgotten what is important and that starts with the family
Love Ivar, he is just too cute!
❤
Never fail, beautiful video ❤ precious son, beautiful family, amazing photography
Every attempt will lead to perfection 😉
I don't often have thoughts, but when I do they are usually regenerative.
You are so blessed. Live watching you kids live your life.
Well done!!
Tovar has such a classic beauty like a Rembrant or Renoir painting ☺
Again and again, big 💖 from Lebanon

Wonderful idea about the cellar in the house! I’ve often thought this would be so convenient for you but it is your dream so not going to interfere with your thoughts and plans! And yes Matthias….. we have a-- lot of BS here in Canada as well,,,, both kinds
