I peaked training with STRYD plans and have stopped progressing. I’m going to give this a try.

Nice to come across this video. I have just recently started putting one of the plans from advanced marathoning to the road. Question - one of the day's description is "Marathon-pace run 13 mi (21 km) w/ 8 mi (13 km) @ marathon race pace". For such runs, where is the marathon pace block placed in the run - middle or the end? I am assuming it cannot be at the start. Also, if it is in the middle, is it safe to divide the remaining mileage between WU and CD? So here, for example, it will be 4k WU, 13k MP, 4k CD. This is my run tomorrow. Tried searching for Pete P online but his lack of social media presence makes me ask you this.

Gonna take a look at this book, i training for 5k to 10k races (40km a week). Jack Daniels plans had too much mileage a week for my taste 😅

Do the charts in this book go down to slower paces? The Daniels book did not. I used his website to calculate mine (e.g., my Easy is around 14 minutes and threshold around 13/ mile), but that means most every chart in Daniels book is useless for me at this point in my running.

Table 5.3 in Daniels 2nd edition includes a table for slower paces all the way down to a VDOT of 20. The Pfitzinger book has a table that goes down to the paces for a 30 minute 5K runner so I guess that would not apply to you. But as I said, the Daniels book has a table that does. And you should also download the VDOT calculator app for your phone, great tool!
I'm a certified VDOT coach so if you have any questions regarding that system, feel free to ask me!

@@LoneEndurance THANKS! It is in the third edition too. I don't know how I missed it before, but that's exactly what I needed (my paces are improving quickly though. For this training I'm using the above times as I've already programed them into my watch, but I just did a mile test and got 10:28 which moves me up to VDOT 25 in my next training segment). Again thanks! I'm going to look up the app now too.

I just ordered this book and also Jack Daniels formula book, I am guessing it is best to read Jack Daniels book first?

Great! You know what, I think it might be better to read the Pfitzinger book first actually. It describes things in simpler terms. The Daniels book is very numbers bases, which is awesome of course, but reading the other book first might be a good introduction. Depends on what you're most excited to read really! Go for the one that demands your attention first :)
