    18:27--He's obviously not mic'd up for every game, so I can take comfort in imagining that every time Mattingly gets ejected, as he walks away he mutters, "I still like him better than Steinbrenner."

  • @XXelpollodiabloXX

    3:30 Why is it every announcer thinks that having your back to the umpire somehow makes you immune to ejection? And, to answer the idiotic "How do you hear it?" question: because he was saying it loudly enough to be heard. Do we have to explain how sound works to these guys?

    • @XXelpollodiabloXX
      @XXelpollodiabloXX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @heath gallagher In four years (about 300 games or so) I've never tossed anybody, but the closest I came was a guy who was bitching his entire way back to the dugout after being rung up on a pitch that was in the low zone. He didn't look at me, but he was definitely talking to me. If his coach hadn't told him to shut up and sit down, I'd have run him. You don't have to be talking directly to the ump to do something worth getting thrown out of the game.

    I hate to disagree with everyone but in the very first clip that ball hit the ground first, when you have a TV like mine it is 12 K, 85” and runs at 244 Hz. You can see things other people can’t see and it definitely bounced off the ground and into his glove.

    • @Foxhound3857
      @Foxhound3857 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well an Umpire has to have a serious bug up his ass to throw out someone who said his peace and then walked away without another word.
      Umpires seriously need to grow some thicker skin. Players are gonna chirp, criticism is expected. An Umpires word is not God.

    If it’s too close to take, you swing at it. I admit some umpires make very iffy strike calls, however, a lot of players are spoiled brats these days. Ted Barrett said in Tech talk that a ball can be slightly off the plate and it’s a rulebook strike.

      Not only was the game being blown out, but Caminero's stats belie the intent. His control wasn't too bad (approximately 63% of his pitches were strikes over his career) and he had hit a total of 7 batters up until that point...and Andrus was the only batter he hit in the entirety of his 2016 season. Hell, the count was in Andrus' favor (at 3-1)...

    I don't care how good or bad the calls were, or how bad the ump was getting berated. You don't eject 3 or more players, all on one team, over the damn strike zone. You're directly impacting the game from behind the plate at that point, and everyone in the damn stadium is going to be looking at you. No one came to see you umpire.
